Saskatoon, SK: The Saskatoon Blades this afternoon announced that they have relieved Kevin Dickie from his duties as head coach of the team effective immediately. Dickie who took over the club prior to the 00-01 season came to the Blue and Gold following a successful tenure at Acadia University in Nova Scotia. During his first season the team struggled to a 19 win season but in following seasons the club gradually improved with 27 and 40 win seasons and a team record for road wins with 22 last year. During his tenure with the Blades, Dickie guided the team into the post season on two occasions with the team bowing out in the opening round each time. The team also announced that assistant coaches Jaime Reeve and Bruno Baseotto will assume the coaching responsibilities of the hockey club on an interim basis.

Not really sure how to respond to this one. Guess a person could see it coming, but Dickie has been improving this team every year since he came here. The difference in this team now will be that they will go from a defensive, tight-checking game (where I believe players like Rabbit, Keller, Barnes, and Green were limited in their offensive opportunities) to a more wipe-open, offensive game. At least there will be more goals on the board for both sides at the games at Sask Place for the remainder of this year.
