Ehhhh, you probably think it should be a good one because you dominate us so regularly there in Dallas.

Fact is in my mind, if we get any points out of this game I will consider it a drastic surprise.

Can't believe I am saying this but I am cheering for the stars. I hate those words coming out of my mouth, but a star win in regulation does a lot for my oilers, I am sorry I disappoint my second favorite teams fans. But the oilers need it.

I'm not very optimistic about tonight's game (which will be starting shortly). If the Ducks truly are better than an average team---and, when you count the overtime losses and shootout losses as "losses", which they, the Ducks ARE only a .500 team---they're going to have to start playing a lot better against some of the better teams in the league.

The Stars have owned us this year. We weren't terribly impressive in beating the Hawks or the Bluejackets, but we did manage to pick up two points in each game. I'd be satisfied if we could take home one point from this game, but, if we're going to make the playoffs and have any chance of success in the playoffs, we've got to start winning games like this (i.e., against good teams on-the-road).

If a wide shot is all you got for naming a player useless then I cannot compete with you. There are infinite reasons that a shot could go wide, and the Ducks as a team only have ten shots anyway.

Since the Ducks are playing in Dallas I get to watch it (live in OK). So, I'm extremely excited just to get to watch tonight. I will add my game notes at the end of the game. However, I think tonight shut up the people who were saying Friesen could fill the top LW spot. He's a good 3rd line guy, but that's it. IMO, there's no way he's back with us next year, because of the surplus amount of 3rd liners we have.

Man, this is the first game I've been able to watch the Ducks since the last time they played Dallas. And what a great one to watch. Here's my thoughts on the game.

Andymac is quickly becoming my favorite player. Always hustling, and this year it's paying off. Great job by him.

Selanne played great as well. I can't beleive how much he's flying out there. This guy had problems with his knees in the past? Couldn't tell it this year.

The kids showed good hustle, but man both Getzlaf and Perry need to realize this is the NHL, not the AHL. Toe drags are rarely going to work in the big leagues.

Someone I was dissapointed in was Fedoruk. He's a good skating enforcer, but I payed close attention to his line with the kids, and he seems 3 or 4 steps behind them each time. There's a reason you're on this team, and that's to intimidate. I want to see him lay someone out. I was hoping the whole game, that he would have went and said something to the guy Dipenta fought. I'd like to see him on the 4th line next year.

Friesen showed us that he only belongs on the 3rd line.

Jiggy did a great job. He ate every rebound except for the pp goal.

Players that played great: Jiggy, Selanne, Andymac, S. Nieds, and Pahlsson.

Players that were dissapointing: Friesen, Fedoruk, and Dipenta (I got nervous every time he touched the puck.)

I dunno it may be kind of selfish, because I know Dipenta is the 6th guy, and he's even considered the 7th guy. But it just seemed like every time he got the puck, he would just dump it in and stars would get it. Maybe I'm being a little hard on the guy though.

Your point about the kids -

I think Perry's learned his lesson. Getzlaf needs to get either himself or the puck to the net. No long passes or dekes.

What a game, I love how disciplined the ducks played. I loved the forcheck and the outstanding defensive zone play. Niedermayer, Beauchemin, Vish..outstanding. Giguere is in a zone, his quickness is about as fast as i've seen it in a long time. He stopped a few of those tip ins/plays in close with great footwork, he is in a zone right now he is square to every single shot and he's aggressive on top of the crease...if this guy keeps this up no telling what can happen.

Travis Moen has made positive contributions the past two games, good for him.

Pahlsson bashers...suck an egg, he is an elite defensive player and his offense since the break has been better. He totally shutdown Modano/Lehtinen when they've been on a tear, they got nothing and Pahlsson was on Modanos *** all game.

I'm getting excited about this team, before the olympic break I don't think we won 1 game when trailing after two periods. Now the ducks have won 3 or 4, I love the heart of this team, and that last sequence at the end was beautiful, just guys working their ***** off.

Jiggy...is in that zone of this where he is unstoppable. Lovin' it. :yo:

Selanne and AndyMac with excellent games. One of Selanne's better games lately.

Can't say enough good things about Travis.

Lastly, but not least, Palhson...my oh my what a player. What a player.

GREAT GAME!!!

Pahlsson bashers...suck an egg, he is an elite defensive player and his offense since the break has been better. He totally shutdown Modano/Lehtinen when they've been on a tear, they got nothing and Pahlsson was on Modanos *** all game.

Pahlsson has clearly taken his game to the next level after his breakthrough performance at the Olympics. He probably is one of the best shutdown centers in the league right now.

Agreed, if he didn't play in Anaheim, and played in a bigger market, or scored alot more goals he'd get a TON more selke talk...there are not many guys as good as him defensively and the guy is a total bull along the boards.

Hopefully Burke re-signs him, the guy has found his niche and he's one of the best at it.

Your point about the kids -

I think Perry's learned his lesson. Getzlaf needs to get either himself or the puck to the net. No long passes or dekes.

agreed. Getzlaf needs to definitely get himself infront of the net more.

:biglaugh: . I don't think anyone would of guessed a 30 goal season by McDonald which he should reach, or that 13 road game point streak.

Another solid game by Giguere. He has been awsome since the break.

Thanks Forbesy. Nice play by Pahlsson to strip the D and rip that shot. Don't be shy Pepper and sport the Pahlsson avatar.

haha the day that Pepper sports that avatar is the day I ***** gold.

I dunno I don't like it when people have the same avatar. It's weird, I relate certain avatars to certain people. For example, if Andymac changed his avatar it would just be weird. I remember when the prof had his prof. John Frink avatar. It took me a long time to get used to him not having it anymore. To be honest, I wish he would go back to it. It's also weird to see Vishinator without Vish in his avatar.

Hey, I have no problem with Pahlsson stepping up his game, I'm happy he has done that.

How many of you people who are now back in the Pahlsson bandwagon admitted that Pahlsson didn't contribute enough before the olympics?

It's a 2-way street, if you want to gloat about his performance post-olympics, you also need to admit that he wasn't good enough pre-olympics. And I really don't care about his defensive game, you're not a 3rd line center if you have 2 goals in 50 games.

He's been an oustanding defensive player all year long. the offense is a bonus, it's kind of hard to criticize a guy when his number 1 objective every night is to shut down the leagues elite players..and he's does a very good job of it.

PJ Axelsson does the exact same and he has 10 goals and 30 points. I would be so happy if we got 10+ goals and ~30 points every year from Pahlsson but we're not getting that and that's unacceptable for a guy who gets about 14mins of ES time per game.

Defense is good but the offense simply isn't good enough.

PJ Axelsson is not as good defensively as Pahlsson is. He is very good, but God is other-worldly defensively.

Oh and Dipenta is one of the most reliable defensemen on the team, he never turns the puck over and always makes the safest play and even had a little flip out of the zone to lead to a 2-1 earlier in the game. He is a picture perfect 3rd pairing guy and to be honest aside from Nieds/Beauchemin I'm at my most comfortable with a lead late and him playing in his own end.

The whole country is crazy about Sami Pahlsson.

Great game. Didn't think there was a chance in hell we would win it, third game in four nights against a hot Dallas team. I felt better when I saw the Stars crappy third jerseys, though. The shame of having to play in those things had to give us some sort of advantage.

Still not optimistic about the playoffs. A long tough road ahead.

Not to mention he's rarely in the penalty box and never for a stupid one.

Sure, Joe doesnt make too many turnovers and he doesnt get called for many bad penalties, but he also doesnt score alot of goals nor is he physical for a guy listed between 215 to 235 on some sites. I think eventually he might be a Bryan Muir type of player one day...

I dont have a problem with him, but we now have Odonnell who plays that style, but with a more physical edge.

and by the way, Dipenta got his butt kicked by Ott, who is listed as a 190 guy, giving up at least 25 pounds to Joe. I think thats pretty sad... but at least hes showing that he is a team guy

O'Donnell looked horrible on that Rick Nash 2-1 goal the other night when he failed to either take out the man taking the pass (Nash) or layout and block the pass from getting across to Nash. O'Donnell is more physical but less reliable right now. I don't care if Dipenta scores or not he's a 3rd pairing defenseman and playing in that role really really well. I'd rather have Dipenta out there than O'Donnell in a close game....and what do you expect in that fight? Ott fights regularly and if memory serves me this is Dipenta's 1st fighting major. There is a lot more that goes into fighting than size, experience plays a big role...that being said when a guy who is admittedly a novice fighting on the NHL level takes on a guy who is an agitator for the other team in a game where the team needs a lift, it really says something about the guy me thinks. I like him a lot, he's a lunch pail guy that only cares about the final score.

You're right in that his offensive production was lacking. I don't think anyone will disagree with you there. But when he can go out and shut down Mike Modano and Jason Arnott who have been red hot since the olympic break, that's just as good as getting a goal if you can prevent one from going in the Ducks net. I don't think Konopka could come in and do that. Pahlsson is the 3rd best center the Ducks have right now, add a top 6 center and he's the 4th line center. He has as many goals as Kris Draper and many consider him an elite 3rd line/shut down center. Does he get too much ES time? Yeah, I won't disagree there...but it's because he's out there shutting down other team's top forwards. I think the olympics gave him some new confidence in the offensive zone, hopefully he can keep it up.

I have not been impressed with O'Donnell in any of the games he's played for the Ducks. Looks a lot like a pylon with a physical edge. Great, just what we needed getting top 4 minutes.

Considering the mis-match, Ott being a good fighter, DiPenta did just fine.
