The MVP of this team is...

Andy McDonald. I never thought I'd say that, I'm the idiot that labled him the next Matt Cullen at the beginning of the year. Scott Niedermayer and Teemu Selanne might be the best players, but I swear every big goal the ducks score it seems Mac is involved in it.

Boy was I wrong, I will now eat my crow.

I second that. Management never recognized his great play. He makes. I believe, about $500,000. I don't know if he is under contract for next year. If he is, they should do what they did with Sellane years ago and rip up the contract and give him a raise. He certainly deserves it the way he has performed this year.

McDonald will be an RFA this summer.

The Ducks would be idiots if they didn't match any offer that was offered to Andymac. He has worked his a$$ off for this team.

I'm sorry to disagree, the MVP has to be Selanne without a doubt. Selanne's signing has brought a world class offensive player back to Anaheim.

Andy is a great hustle- lead by expampe and quick skating forward, but no offensive star. I think he is a good leader in that he brings his hustle every game, but hes not offensively gifted or physically imposing. He's a guy who needs good linemakes to be sucessful (but that can be said about 90% if all top line forwards).

I think Andy and Scott Nied should be runners up to MVP, but Selanne has been the biggest force.

Are you kidding? Not offensively gifted? What player are you watching? He does thigns out there I haven't seen since PK. Personally I think Scotty is the MVP of this season but it's a team game and it's really because all three of those guys have played like they have. One guy doesn't do it on his own.

Sergei Fedorov. By trading him we acquired Beauchemin (a top pairing defenseman) and got tons of cap space for the future.

Still think that picking up Marchant was an unspoken part of that deal, so the cap space gained was less than apparent.

That's true. But Marchant hasn't been half bad. Maybe one quarter bad, and overpaid, but still.

I'd say Teemu. The year off did wonders for him. Now he's healthy and creating lots of offence.

That said, the Ducks would be fools not to resign Andy. He's been playing phenomenally this year, and I hope he keeps it up for a long time.

Really Dirk, Fridge over Andy Mac? I would have never guessed. Becasue without Todd there's no wat we could have won 32 games so far.

Seriously, I'd say:

1. Teemu
2. Scott
3. Andy
4. Rooooslan
5. JS

The reason i put Fridge is that without him this team would not play the way they do. Dont we all remember a scared Duck team of last season?

:sarcasm: ?

Seriosuly Fridge brings so much to this team its not even funny. He's an enforcer who has stuck for his team all seaon including arguably the "turning point" of the season. (going after Nedved/Phx), Has played on the 1st-4th line!. Great leader, Best hit of the season (Kubina hit), and works harder then any player ive seen. Thats why its hard to pick a single mvp for this team.

I love Fridge as much as the next guy, and you have a good point about the Ducks not playing scared with him in the lineup, but I think I'd have him 5th or 6th on my list. I'd make my list like this,
1-Teemu
2-Andy
3-Scott
4-Jiggy
5-Fridge

Jerky Leclerc

My list would look like this:

1. Scotty Nieds: undeniably the best player on the team, he is the Ducks defense.
2. Teemu Selanne: a bonafide NHL scorer, he is the glue that keeps everything together.
3. Andy McDonald: what a breakout year, he is the sparkplug on offense.
4. Sammi Pahlsson: our defensive specialist is often overlooked but Sammi has had a real strong year.
5. Todd Fedoruk: look no further than Perry and Getzlaf to see what impact Fridge has on the team.

Totally joshing with ya but I agree Fridge has been fantastic for this team. He's been the kind of hard noised player that we've ALWAYS needed. He can skate, throw down, fore-check like a mother, and backs up his team mates when he needs to. He's the best fighter we've had since probably Ewen or Stu, maybe ever. He's a huge improvement from that caveman Burnett. I am definitely on the Fridge band wagon.

I'd still have Scotty, Andy, Teemu, Sammy, Jiggy and Rusty ahead of the Fridge but like I said it's a team game and they are winning as a team.

I know Teemu Selanne is a great story, and he's been awesome BUT I feel like whenever the ducks get a big goal Andy McDonald is usually apart of it. I think it's hard to have one MVP on this team because of the lack of talent, but if he never emerges Fedorov may still be here. and he deserves a decent sized raise in the off season...just hope it's not a fluke.

Andy has had a great season and really could be as great a play maker for us as pk was but our mvp has got to be Temmu for sure, hands down we would be were the blues are at if it wasent for him.

Clearly Scott Niedermayer. Without Scott, we obviously lose his defensive presence, but also lose the development of Beauchamin. That means immediately our 1st line D is gone and we lose a hell of a lot more games. The reason why we've had the success that we've had is because of our solid defense.

I think Andy might be having a career year. He didnt get a major injury like he normally does every year, and his skating helps him get to scoring positions. I just hope the ducks dont overpay for him because i dont think hes gonna get better than the year he is having now. And if he does sign a big contract, he might have a Sykora type year and people will start hating him (although he hustles, unlike Sykora).

I think Andy shouldnt get more than 2.5 million a year. What do you boys think his range should be?

i think that's too much...if he can produce another season like this, than give him 2-2.5M
now i would say he's worth about 1.5M

2.5M??

I'm thinking more like 2M per year on average, 1st year 1.5M, 2nd 2M and option for 3rd at 2.5M

You know after his rookie year in 2001-2002 I saw something special in him. If not for that concussion in 02 he'd been like this for the last three years. He's no flash in the pan, but 1.5-2 mil should be reasonable.

Hey I'm eating crow about Selanne. Before the season, I was just hoping Teemu's season didn't end with him riding buses in the A.

Count me among the many shocked by Andy's performance this season. I was begging to have him released before the season. I just didn't see him becoming the first or second line guy the Ducks needed. Right now he's an absolute force. His offensive play hasbeen fantastic, but we always knew he was talented. What has impressed me most is the way he battles, and the way he comes away with the puck in most of those battles.

I'm not sure I'd make him the MVP right now. Niedermayer and Selanne have simply been too good, and are too important to the team to overlook. However, Andy's right there.

I'm not making those guys Assistant Captain. I'm grading them. Kudos to both Andy Mac and Teemu. Both of them have proven to be terrific bargains and have exceeded almost everyone's expectations for them this year. But Scott Niedermeyer is the heart and soul of the Ducks. This team would be sitting around 13th in the Western Conference if it weren't for him.

You were kidding, weren't you, Dirk?

istn't 2.5 million what Chee Choo makes? and he has 40 + goals already on the season...

when Chee Choo got the deal, I really thought San Jose's gm was a genius...I still don't know what Chee Choo was thinking! He should have asked for way more then he got!

Scott Niedermayer is easily the most valuable player on this team. Without him, we'd already be out of the race. After that, I would say Teemu, Andy Mac and Jiggy in some order.

I think he actually got something like 4.5 million a year didnt he? Or was it 3.5 for like 4 yrs?
