 Happy St. Patrick's Day!!
bleuer 03-17-2006, 05:42 AM The Ducks will be looking to get back on track against a Blackhawks club that they have lost to only once in the last 11 meetings. Anaheim is 9-1 with one tie against Chicago in that span, and will be going for a sweep of the season series.
The Blackhawks are looking to win back-to-back games for just the fourth time this season, and first since Dec. 7-11. A three-game winning streak from Nov. 13-19 was Chicago's longest of the season.
The Blackhawks hope Nikolai Khabibulin can build on his 33-save performance in their 3-2 win over Columbus on Wednesday. Khabibulin, who also stopped a penalty shot against the Blue Jackets, has mostly struggled in his first season in Chicago and is 2-6-2 with a 4.07 goals-against average in his last 10 starts.
The Blackhawks have scored the second-fewest goals in the NHL with 168, two more than Columbus.

McDonald19 03-17-2006, 08:39 PM Fedoruk-McDonald-Selanne
starting line..
McDonald19 03-17-2006, 08:48 PM Kunitz needs to shoot on that 2 on 1.
powerplay for the Ducks coming up...
McDonald19 03-17-2006, 08:53 PM normal hit by Salei is somehow a penalty...hmm...
hockey nut 03-17-2006, 08:53 PM Horrible call on Salei... tripping? Yeah, right.
hockey nut 03-17-2006, 08:55 PM Wow, what a save on Selanne.
McDonald19 03-17-2006, 09:11 PM Andy Mac hit the post there...
0-0 after first.
hockey nut 03-17-2006, 09:32 PM AndyMac! 1-0 Ducks in the 2nd
McDonald19 03-17-2006, 09:32 PM 1-0 Ducks
Andy Mac
made the right decision on the 2 on 1 with Selanne.
McDonald19 03-17-2006, 09:39 PM Chicago gets a strange goal there...weird deflection on a knucklepuck.
1-1.
lux_interior 03-17-2006, 10:02 PM Kunitz' confidence has taken a nosedive since being demoted from the big line.
McDonald19 03-17-2006, 10:04 PM refs are calling everything...frustrating game to watch again...
McDonald19 03-17-2006, 10:06 PM 1-1 after 2 periods.
Ducks have to wake up and go get the 2 points.
I agree with Hayward this game is making me nervous...Chicago is another deflection goal away from stealing the 2 points from us.
Duckstudd269 03-17-2006, 10:13 PM What have the lines been so far? Has Fedoruk stayed with Andymac and Selanne?
McDonald19 03-17-2006, 10:19 PM What have the lines been so far? Has Fedoruk stayed with Andymac and Selanne?
There has been so much powerplay and 4 on 4 hockey that it's difficult to say what the lines are.
Kunitz and Friesen have both seen time with Andy Mac and Selanne. Fedoruk only played that one shift with them and then he was mostly with Perry and Getzlaf.
McDonald19 03-17-2006, 10:25 PM Andy Mac top corner shot!
2-1 Ducks
hockey nut 03-17-2006, 10:25 PM AndyMac again! What a shot!
lux_interior 03-17-2006, 10:25 PM Wow. Andy Mac.
Is that Joe Sakic playing for the Ducks. He does wear #19.
braincramp 03-17-2006, 10:26 PM Andy Mac needs a new hat.
lux_interior 03-17-2006, 10:27 PM Andy Mac needs a new hat.
Maybe 10,000 green ones?
braincramp 03-17-2006, 10:31 PM Well. he is a Mc.
braincramp 03-17-2006, 10:39 PM The announcers seem to make a lot of excuses for Lupul . . .
braincramp 03-17-2006, 10:41 PM PP. Let's nail this one down!
lux_interior 03-17-2006, 10:45 PM So much for that. They took the conservative route. Hopefully it doesn't bite them in the butt.
McDonald19 03-17-2006, 10:46 PM Lupul shoots it right into Khabibulin on a 2-1.
I might be jumping on the Lupul sucks bandwagon...we'll see.
lux_interior 03-17-2006, 10:49 PM Well we are down a whipping boy since Sykora left.
McDonald19 03-17-2006, 10:51 PM Well we are down a whipping boy since Sykora left.
okay, I officially nominate Joffrey Lupul.
anyone second it?
McDonald19 03-17-2006, 10:53 PM penalty Salei
11.5 seconds of 6 on 4 hockey here...
lux_interior 03-17-2006, 10:54 PM okay, I officially nominate Joffrey Lupul.
anyone second it?
I'm staying out of this one.
braincramp 03-17-2006, 10:55 PM Whew!
McDonald19 03-17-2006, 10:56 PM wow...Sharp hit the post and the crossbar on that shot...
that was not a great game for the Ducks...but we'll take the 2 points and move on.
Duckstudd269 03-17-2006, 10:59 PM okay, I officially nominate Joffrey Lupul.

Our 2nd leading scorer, wait 3rd after today, is the guy you want to nominate for our whipping boy?
McDonald19 03-17-2006, 11:01 PM Our 2nd leading scorer, wait 3rd after today, is the guy you want to nominate for our whipping boy?
Yeah.
the numbers are deceptive. He is very streaky and when he is not scoring he is useless. Not physical, not a good skater, not a playmaker.
Chistov23 03-17-2006, 11:12 PM that was not a great game for the Ducks...but we'll take the 2 points and move on.
Yea that was a pretty weak game. They had a solid start but it went down hill once the penaltys hit in the first period. Hedstrom had a good game, set up Lupul a couple of times. McDonald was great. On to C-Bus!
Duckstudd269 03-17-2006, 11:12 PM Yeah.

fair enough. You have a good arguement. However, I wouldn't call him our whipping boy until we see what he can do with some better linemates. 23 goals with the linemates he's had this year isn't so bad. So I say wait on the "whipping boy".
By the way, I just noticed that I havent seen any defensive pairing updates since O'Donnel has joined the team. I know our first D pair up, but what are the other 2? Is Vish getting 2nd pairing ice time? Or is he stuck on the 3rd pair with Dipenta?

The guys have to play better against C-Bus. For some reason we seem to have trouble playing them.
sammyp 03-17-2006, 11:23 PM Yeah, definitely not a good game for the Ducks, but the two points are all that matter. It's an important two points in a game that was a must-win. Its off to Columbus in another must-win.
Hockeyfan02 03-17-2006, 11:36 PM Good to hear the Ducks won. Didn't see the game as I was at the Lightning game here in Tampa, but it doesn't sound like they played well. They got the two points they needed out of this game though. :handclap:

I'll second it. I'm tired of the old "he needs better linemates" excuse. The kid needs to a) hit the net with his shot and b) use his talent to create his own offense.
He does neither. And if he doesn't figure it out, the similarities to Sykora won't stop at being a whipping boy for Ducks fans.

You're right he does need to start finding the back of the net. All I'm saying is don't go naming him our "whipping boy" just yet. Give him some time.
Ducksforcup 03-18-2006, 12:03 AM wow...Sharp hit the post and the crossbar on that shot...
that was not a great game for the Ducks...but we'll take the 2 points and move on.
I let out a gasp after that. WHEW!
Didn't play a great game, but we got the points. :) :yo:
Randall Graves* 03-18-2006, 12:13 AM Ducks got pretty lucky tonight. they dominate the first period and get nothing and that appeared to deflate them a tad, BUT good teams win these games. They find ways to win and the ducks did tonight.
Lupul..pathetic game.
Kunitz had a bad game except for two plays, and they both led to goals..make what you want of that.
Getzlaf and Perry played 2 shifts in the third period, they didn't play well so I can see why Carlyle had them on the bench.
Giguere...Superb, the one goal looked bad at first until you see it on reply. His positioning tonight was Bang on, as Brian Hayward would say. With a little luck at the end.
Andy McDonald...rules.
Beauchemin...poor game, fortunate he plays with Scott Niedermayer.
Pahlsson and Rob Niedermayer..solid efforts.
if they wanna beat CBJ they gotta clean up some things, but any time you win on the road you can't complain a whole lot.
Duck Fan 03-18-2006, 01:57 AM A quote from Tommy Lasorda years ago could best describe Lupul tonight. The gist of the quote is--
I don't beleave Lupul could hit the water if you threw him out of a boat.
He missed the net several times tonight.
The same could have been said for Kunitz.
Boy the Ducks were lucky tonight. The stats seem to show that they out played Chicago, but they were out hustled badly.
A real lucky win.
Pepper 03-18-2006, 03:27 AM We don't need a new whipping boy, we still have Pahlsson... :D
ktulu98 03-18-2006, 04:16 AM well first period was very very good from ducks...but second, dzeez no effort there, no skating, no heart in game...3rd was better than second but we are lucky that game ended 2:1. chicago was near to 2:2, but j.s placed very well his goalposts.
Andy Mac was cleary best man today.
Scotty has so smooth and fast skating.Im still wondering how he is doing it :)
lux_interior 03-18-2006, 03:47 PM I don't need a new whipping boy, I still have Pahlsson... :D
Fixed that for ya.
