Does Special Nieds deserve a Pay Raise?

Naturally, I'm refering to Rob Niedermayer, and I don't actually think he deserves a raise, but......

As anaheim fans, if Anaheim makes the playoffs over the Canucks, is the season MVP Rob Niedermayer for crashing the net against cloutier on Nov.20th?

I don't like to see players go down to injury, but it's hard to argue that the canucks were a stronger team with cloutier out of the lineup than in.

So, how awesome is Special Nieds if anaheim ends up knocking out Vancouver for the final spot in the playoffs?

He makes what he's worth, before his injury he was worth every cent, post injury he's sucked. the last few games he's played better.

by the way, I don't think Cloutier is why the Canucks are having trouble, Auld has proven to be more than capable.

I don't know how alone I am on this or what but to me R.Niedermayer is an extremely unimpressive player. He has the physical tools to be wildly successful yet he is consistently pedestrian statiscally. He is a good 3rd line grinder type player who can cycle the puck well but takes way too many bad penalties. He is a necessary evil on this team.

Nonsense. Accept the fact that he doesn't have an elite scorer's touch (the Ducks already knew this before they signed him) and he's a fabulous player: strong fast, tenacious checker, great defensive player. Along with Rucchin, he was the Ducks' best all-around forward during their '03 playoff run.

I agree that he's struggled a bit this year, but independent of his price tag, he's the kind of player any team would want.

I think the Nucks have bigger issues than goaltending right now. Is Nieds the reason the "big" line for Vancouver has gone 5 straight games without a single point?

Anyways, he's a tad overpaid for his current role. He's a solid checking line winger who can chip in goals here and there. I don't think he deserves a pay raise, but he has been playing well lately.

No doubt they have bigger issues than Auld. I'm not an auld hater. The canucks are so weird mentally though, that it makes you wonder how differently they play without cloutier back there.

As unstable as cloutier is, I think the canucks play with more certainty infront of him.

They're still an overrated team though.

As good as auld has played, he's still the backup.

I don't think Rob Niedermayer deserves a raise. He has picked up his game as of late but he'll go long stretches without being very productive which I've seen him do since day one in Anaheim.

He is actually a little overpaid for what he does. He is a really good third liner who controls the puck on the wall and can shut down the other team's top players. 2 million is more than enough for a third liner even a good one.

1) I watched Neidermayer play in Calgary for years while I was there, he is NOT a fabulous player.

2) He's still the MVP of this team because he is one of the big reasons Scott Neidermayer signed to Anaheim.

he is the ONLY reason scott signed there.

I do not like Rob. He is overpayed for what he does. But then I look at his brother, and I just refer to Rob as a means to an end. Got to have him to keep Scott happy so......

What Frink says is absolute truth. There are no exceptions to this.

How about watching him play now? what he did in Calgary doesn't mean CRAP to this team.

He's been good ever since he got here, inconsistant but overall well worth Mike Commodore.

Flash you never stop amazing me. Auld has played better than Cloutier, period.
