TONIGHT

at Phoenix, 6 PST, FSNW2

Site — Glendale Arena.

Radio — 1090.

Records — Ducks 29-20-12; Coyotes 29-30-4.

Record vs. Coyotes — 4-0-1.

Update — Defenseman Sean O'Donnell, acquired Thursday from Phoenix, immediately faces his former team. O'Donnell said it will be awkward going against guys he played with so recently. "I wish we were starting against someone else, let's put it that way."

...With Friesen playing on the top line, rookie Chris Kunitz was paired with Todd Marchant and Joffrey Lupul. Rookie left wing Dustin Penner was sent to minor-league Portland.

I like the "Penner to Portland", hasn't been really effective in the last few games...

saw this on NHL.com:
"That leaves four teams -- Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Anaheim, and Florida -- without a victory when trailing after two periods. The Panthers (0-18-2) have a League-low two points when the opposition leads after 40 minutes."

We have not won when trailing after 2...so I had a look into the numbers...we are 0-12-2 in these games...and 23-2-4 when leading after 2...so a good start is the key for a win!

Hey Bleuer, if you have the chance ask Fedoruk about his role in the team and how he feels about it. Also ask about the Nedved-incident, did change the team and how opponents treat Ducks.

Hey Bleuer.
I think he had a media pass for just the 4 game home stand.

Huge home and home here. Will be interesting to see O'Donnell and Frieson on the team. I'm thinking O'Donnell with the shootout winner. ;)

chistov23 is right, it was just for the 4 games...I'm back home again :(

I asked Getzlaf about the role Fedoruk plays in their line...he was like "you know, it's pretty nice to know that nobody will fight you because they are so afraid of fedoruk..."
said that since fedoruk is on their line, they (getz and perry) get less dirty plays from other players....

According to some people enforcers aren't needed because intimidation has no effect on the game..

Was it attempted or unintentional. Either way we dodged a bullet, because he'd be gone and there would be a 5 minute major if it was intentional.

Never seen it called as a double minor.

I pretty much liked everything about this game except the PP, in the middle of the game they tried to get fancy a bit too much.

Getzlaf and Perry were dangerous the whole game, they were awesome even though they didn't score. Weather you like CP or not atleast he will fight his own battles, he's not a good fighter, so what. Atleast he showed he won't back down and you have to like that in a young guy.

Rob Niedermayer played his best game in a long time.

Weird game, we dominated yet it was close all the way through. Perry and Getzlaf have been great the last 4 games, we need them to keep it up. Frieson didn't play to much considering all of the special teams play, O'Donnell wasn't really noticeable either so thats probably good.

I want to start Giguere again tomorrow but with us playing so many games in a short time, tomorrow seems like the right spot for Bryz to play. Hopefully he is ready.

If the Ducks win at home tomorrow, we are tied for 8th. With the way all the teams are playing in the West, 95 pts might not even be enough to make the playoffs. The Ducks might need at least 98 pts IMO. That means we need to be 16 games above .500 by season end.

Tomorrow Colorado plays Calgary and Edmonton plays Minnesota. If both lose and the Ducks win Anaheim will be tied for 8th, two points from 7th, three points from 6th, and 4 points from 5th, all with games in hand.

To the shock of no one, Friesen was invisible. O'Donnell looked fine though. He's more mobile than I thought. Phoenix sucked hard all game and managed to convert the few chances they had, making it artificially close.

What does Perry do to piss people off all the time? I don't see him do anything dirty. Maybe he yaps or something. That line is looking better and better, but they need to convert. Perry needs to take shorter shifts. He kinda got owned by Ballard but like Mac said he can feel good about himself and he didn't get hurt.

First point: I thought Friesen was pretty good for the TOI he got. He was constantly going to the net and screening Joseph. Like Hayward said, that's a tough first game to play with all the special teams play, as Friesen got >10 minutes. Even tougher for O'Donnell for obvious reasons, and he held his own.

Perry is just constantly trying to dipsy-doodle around defenders, and he is getting better at it, he makes guys look bad. Couple that with his tough play around the boards and his drives to the goal crease, and you'll get some PO'd d-men. Another thing I've noticed about Corey and his "twin" is that they use their sticks so well. Whether is poking a puck free behind the goal line or putting a little hook on an opposing player, they always seem to use their sticks effectively.
