From the LA Times...

A possible target would be Phoenix left wing Geoff Sanderson, whose speed and goal-scoring ability fits the Ducks' template and might not cost them one of their top young players. A 14-year-veteran, Sanderson has 17 goals with the Coyotes after being acquired from Columbus on Oct. 8. Sanderson started his career in Hartford when Burke was the general manager. When he was with Vancouver in 2003-04, Burke dealt for the 34-year-old forward at the trade deadline. The Ducks are said to be looking at Chicago center Tyler Arnason, according to a source. Arnason is second on the Blackhawks in scoring with 40 points.

Not surprised with Sanderson at all. Last season, Burke picked him up for the Canucks' playoffs (along with Rucinsky).

Actually he has 19 goals not 17 - was tied with Doan and Comrie for top scorer despite basically playing 3rd line minutes and much of it out of position in centre.

Sanderson's not a player I thought much of before the Coyotes acquired him but he's rapidly become a favorite of mine. Just a gutsy skilled veteran who wouldnt cost much, maybe a 3rd or perhaps a prospect like Brent.

I could be wrong, but I thought that the primary reason the Hawks were interested in moving Arnason is the fact that he doesn't always give you 100% effort. If that's the case, he doesn't sound like a Burke-type player. If I'm wrong, let me know.

I'm not opposed to acquiring Sanderson if the price isn't very steep, but I'm curious why the Coyotes would be anxious to help us. While they're not exactly "in the thick of it", they have won as many games as we have. If Gretzky helped put us over the top---and didn't get much in exchange---I don't think that would sit too well with the folks in Phoenix. Don't they have enough PR problems as it is?

Sanderson makes a lot of money for a 3rd liner.. plus I get the feeling that Phoenix owes you a favor for Leclerc.

The Ducks arent really seen as a big rival, nor is Sanderson a long standing fan favorite. It wouldnt surprise me.

Isn't Sanderson the type of guy who sucks on good teams, and is good on mediocre to bad teams?

We're mediocre at best, so we should be OK.
