As expected, the Ducks recalled rookie left wing Dustin Penner from their minor-league affiliate in Portland, Maine.
Penner, a 23-year-old forward, was sent down to Portland during the NHL Olympic break to allow him to play in some games for the Pirates and stay sharp. He had four goals and four assists in six games and had at least a point in each of the last five.
:handclap: GL DUSTIN!!! :yo:
McDonald19 02-26-2006, 11:49 PM good...now it's time to show some consistency Dustin!
Show Burke that you are an NHLer and that was your last trip to down to the AHL.
jr77812 02-27-2006, 01:13 PM He played very well over the break for Portland. Wish he was staying but I hope he makes the most of his time and is hungry when the AHL playoffs roll around…Portland will need him!

Well if Anaheim is in the playoffs, sorry but we got first dibs.

Someone needs to teach him how to hit...Look at Kunitz or Konopka, small guys but when they hit you theres an impact..
Smelco 02-28-2006, 04:14 PM I too would like to see a little more aggression...but mayebe its because Im scared of seeing him suddenly becoming Pierre Dagenais version 2.0

Why? Can't he skate? I have never heard any reference to his skating. Just don't want him looking like Bertuzzi, a fart on ice. :)
MightyAdam 02-28-2006, 07:21 PM Penner seems to be one of the faster skaters on the Ducks teams...and for a person who wieghs 245 pounds like Penner does, that is a good attribute to have

I don't know about that.
I wouldn't say skating is one of his strengths. For his size he is decent though.
Spankatola Jamnuts 03-01-2006, 12:19 AM He has good straightaway speed, but his acceleration is understandably sluggish.

For a guy his size his straight away speed is good like CFOB said, it just takes him a couple strides to get it going, so when he hits guys in corners he's not doing it at a decent speed so he needs to work on it.
Dirk316 03-01-2006, 04:20 AM Does he play physical in Portland?? When he plays here im getting Ruchin flashbacks all over. He needs a mean streak
jr77812 03-01-2006, 02:47 PM He reminds me a lot of Andrew Brunette with a touch more speed. He uses his "rear end" to muscle to the front of the net and in the corners...that's about all the body contact that he likes to generate.
Pepper 03-01-2006, 03:15 PM Andred ****ing Brunette??
I don't think it's even near that.

I have seen a couple clips of him getting involved physically. One fight where he came to the aid of Ryan Shannon and he easily won the fight.
I like that he comes to the aid of teammates, Rucchin never did that.
