Per Eric Stephen L.A. Times:
To make room for defenseman Sandis Ozolinsh's return to the active roster, the Mighty Ducks waived Tyler Wright on Thursday. The journeyman forward, after clearing waivers, rejected a minor league assignment and returned to his Columbus, Ohio, home amid thoughts of retirement.
Ducksforcup 02-24-2006, 03:08 AM Aw, that is really sad to hear about Wright. He seems like a great guy. You hate to see something like that happen to anyone. I hope Burke finds a taker for him at the deadline because he deserves it.
GL Wright. :)
That is great to hear about Ozo though. :yo: I bet he really wants to prove to himself that he can "do it."
Reaper45 02-24-2006, 03:18 AM Good to see Ozolinsh back after his problems.
BraveSirRobin 02-24-2006, 03:27 AM Maybe Ozo's return can be a driving force for the Ducks to start winning and nabbing a playoff spot. Here's hoping it will.
Randall Graves* 02-24-2006, 03:54 AM Niedermayer is skating, hopefully he's back soon..
Hopefully Ozolinsh can pick up the slack. His skating was sooo much better for Latvia than it was earlier this year.
McDonald19 02-24-2006, 04:20 AM I feel bad for Wright...but Moen and Konopka are cheaper and are more effective role players right now.
Pwnasaurus 02-24-2006, 11:01 AM Sure you feel bad for the guy...but then you perk up and realize that if he retires all that dead money comes off the books :handclap:
Pepper 02-24-2006, 11:05 AM I can't feel sorry for any player who has earned several million dollars while playing the game he loves and would have most likely played for free as a hobby.
Thanks for everything Tyler but the show goes on.

the money would also off the books if he would be in Portland ;)
Pwnasaurus 02-24-2006, 02:03 PM Only for this year though...remember he has a multi-year NHL deal...only way that gets eradicated is via retirement a'la Malakhov.

There is some confusion over whether Wright is on contract for 06-07.
The CBJ fans said he was on contract for next season but I'm seeing him listed as a UFA on some sites.
Anyone know for sure?

Exactly nothing to feel sorry for Moen/Konopka > Wright
Darth Milbury 02-24-2006, 08:56 PM I would have predicted that Anaheim would have gotten something in return for Wright. I understand that the Ducks have better versions of this type of player. But, I would think that lots of playoff bound teams would like to have a player like Wright around for the crunch.

the article said they tried to trade him..and then he cleared waivers.
jr77812 02-25-2006, 10:50 AM Wright refused to show in Portland per todays paper but there are rumors running around that Dineen is trying to get him to come...so we're waiting. :dunno:

Yeah, I know. I'm just surprised at the outcome though. I would have predicted that Wright would have had some market value.

Maybe they just want additional leadership there, I think Wright being waived is a sign that the ducks will keep getzlaf/perry barring a trade.
TheJoeMan 02-26-2006, 10:55 PM Wright was scratched for what like 11 games? He only scored two goals and was getting minimal minutes. He's a good fore checker and a fine penalty killer but like most here have said Moen and Konopka do that job just fine and for waaaaaaaaaaaaay cheaper. For those reason though I feel he didn't get any offers. GM's know the Ducks don't need him and aren't in a desperate need to replace him so why give up someone for him if he just goes to waivers? Besides if he does have another year on his contract he'll be way overpaid so I don't see why any team would want him. I feel sorry for him but we've been a better team without him. Oh well, we unloaded Sergei's contract for him so it's not a total loss.
