Some of them yes but there are more czechs that are up and coming then swedes, Sweden will have some troubles in the coming years there are no one that can even remotly fill the void left by Sundin, Forsberg etc.

I have to cheer to Sweden here, especially with Kronwall added to the roster.

I hope we see Zetterberg, Holmstrom, Samuelsson, Lidstrom, and Kronwall on the ice together at least once.

Speaking of Kubina, I feel sorry for him. He is BY FAR the best Czech defenseman, especially defensively. In the Slovak game, the rest were relatively okay, but in the round robin games, he was the lone ranger out there.

The Czechs are gonna have to spend more time in the offensive zone, IMO. If it comes down to Lundqvist vs Hnilicka, I think there's only gonna be one winner. :dunno:

I have to cheer to Sweden here, especially with Kronwall added to the roster.

I hope we see Zetterberg, Holmstrom, Samuelsson, Lidstrom, and Kronwall on the ice together at least once.
There is a strong possibility that we will, Samuelsson played the latter part of the QF with Henrik & Tomas. Kronwall was paired with Lidström in todays practice, personally I not that fond of seeing those two together but I guess they don´t want to mess up the other two pairings this late in the tournament.

My brains tell me that the Czechs will take this one.

But I have a gut-feeling that the spell has lifted over Swedish hockey, and that we will beat the Czechs.

I bet that Kronwall will throw a monster hit on his first shift of the game.

Unfortunaly Russia and the Czech rep will play in the final with Russia being the winner.

who certainly won't play in the next olympics or World Cup.

Like always when these teams meet, the first goal will be crucial. Sweden can probably handle a czech team chasing a tieing goal. Sweden can probably not handle a czech team sitting back on a lead.

And now Sweden has N.Kronwall in their lineup :eek: . No offence but I think Kronwall is a better defenseman than Öhlund. What a performance by him in last years world's as well as in the AHL. Kronwall is the next Lidström.

And while I'm at it, Bäckström might be the next Sundin, so imo Sweden's future looks mighty bright.

My brain tells me Czech Republic will win, they are always very hard to beat when it matters, but my heart says Sweden of course. We will stand up to them.

Their last match at the World Cup was a Czech romp but that was a year and a half ago as well as slightly different teams. I cannot believe that Hnilicka is in the Czech net. Who would have thought a Hasek injury and Vokoun unable to stop anything? I say Sweden gets a close one, perhaps a shootout.

I am pulling for Sweden in this tourney, all because of Forsberg. I think the Czechs will win, because I fear Forsberg's health, plus the Czechs to me over the past few years are proven winners who seem to overcome anything thrown at them.

hey man, there's nothing pathetic about that, I'm 22 from czechia and I still have his poster somewhere, when I was playing CM for my football team, I virtually adopted the way Peter would always set up his wingers and always do what's best for his team, it worked well, If I was to pick the best forward of last ten years, I would have to say Jagr, If I was to pick the smartest forward, it's Peter all the way

I've never supported sweden. Never cheered them onto win.

However, this time I want them to make the final against us. If we meet then in the final and beat them, then we'll have played and beat every top nation in these games bar Slovakia who we coudn't meet.

And that, is a fine way to win gold.

I think this will be a tight low scoring game that ends up being decided on a penalty shootout. And any team could win that...

Zetterberg is good but will never be able to replace Forsberg just because of the lack of physical play. I guess that my biggest favorite player after Forsberg retires will be Ovechkin, he is already #2 on my list. He is so different from many other Russian players and can do everything! And hopefully Lundqvist will become a superstar aswell!

I hope we can perform well and maybe for once it's us winning this game. The Czechs usually beat us in overtime or on shootout and it's happened many times lately.

Hopefully Kronwall is in good shape and throws his body around tonite. As for now he's probably the best body checker on the team so it's gonna be nice to see him. Too bad that it was Öhlund that got injured and not Ronnie Sundin though.

People talk about the offensive talent of the Czech but the more I look at the Swedish lineup the more impressed I get with their offensive talents.

Not everyone has impressed here in the olympics so far but they are all proven point getters in the NHL, i feel the defensive corps are also pretty evenly matched, the Czechs might have a better defensive system though.
The difference will probably be in goal as Lundqvist will win this for the Swedes.
For a Rangers point of view Im hoping for a Czech win but today I think Henrik will steal it for the Swedes, and I guess that is not all to bad considering which club he plays for. ;)

No it isn't, and this isn't just one Czech shooter who has some familiarity with Lundqvist.

Both goalies are capable, Sweden probably more depth at forward, while Czechs have looked sharper against the better teams and are known to always "bring it" in these big games. How many more times will we get to see Jagr and Forsberg in a game of this magnitude? This has all the makings of a barnburner!

Polish is my third language and I speak it more or less fluently. Most words are very similar between Polish - Czech, so I get by fairly well when it comes to reading Czech hockey news over at at www.hokej.cz :)

Don't forget Mattias Norström. BIG loss. Also Lilja or Tallinder could have strengthened the team and Kim Johnsson.

I also feel kind of bad that Jonathan Hedström is in the stands when Jönsen plays. Hedström is just as underrated as Påhlsson is. Not a star, but very important for the team.

I just checked with Jags, he said he's a 68th level magic user, and as long as Mats Naslund doesn't rush onto the ice and hit him in the knee with a tire iron, he will definitely bring it today. He said Forsberg should bring it too, so IT's confused and doesn't know with whom to go to the game.

J Jonsson has been very bleak by his own standards this time around. I have no objections about him being on the squad, he represents continuity. He's also a capable defensive player on the big ice + he can still kill penalties to save energy for our "top talent". Besides, JJ does not make or break the fortune of this team. He's NOT the got-to-go guy. JJ is 3rd or 4th liner in this squad, and his part of any fortune is thereafter. :teach:

I agree, the top line together with Kronwall has been very good.

Good period by the Swedes. And it shows why the Czech Republic are so nauseating to play against. One slight mistake in neutral zone and they pounce at once. You have to be very disciplined playing against them.

I don't think he is injured, you can't play with a groin injury. However, I think he is a little bit afraid of getting hurt again. It's quite normal you unintentionally try to protect the area you have recently have had trouble with.

Just a nickname me and my Danish girlfriend have for Swedes. Comes from how you say Jäg as opposed to Jeg, and it sounds like how an English speaker would say 'yog'. Nothing negative, just a funny name for the Swedes (which in particular take the weekend trip from Goteburg to Ålborg Storcenter and Jomfru Ane Gade)
