I think it's hurting for the canadians to watch hockey now when they're out.

when sweden lost to belarus 4 years ago, i didn't watch a single second of hockey after that.

I know how you feel. With US and Canada out of it I know there is no way I'll be tuning in for any of the remaining hockey games.

Who cares. CBC won't be showing the next Olympics. ;)

Apparently, the prime time ratings for the Olympics have been really bad, so the CBC is forced to air free commercials to make up for the fact that people aren't tuning in, as part of their contract with the advertisers.

I hope not. Bob Cole was struggling with alot of names (even Team Canada's the first game). Whenever it was the Swiss or Czechs or Finns, outside of 5-6 names, he would just call them "Swiss" or "Finns" and clearly had no idea what the player was.

Of coarse, if it was a Leaf like Kaberle or McCabe, he would start monologuing on what a he's done for the Leafs.

And here's Mats Sundin -the Captain of the Maple Leafs- scoring his second goal of the night.

Why is everyone saying that they won't be watching any more olympic hockey games this year. So Canada and the US lost... so what, I thought there were more hockey fans out there then country supporters. I love the russian team this year, and I live in Canada. I fully expect a Czech-Russia gold medal game, and I think that would be alot more fun to watch then the terrible teams that were Canada and the US this year.

THANK GOD we won't have to hear Bob Cole and Harry Neale at the next Olympics. There is a God afterall

Better a bunch of commercials during a game nobody in Canada cares about than a bunch of commercials during an event that Canada is competing in.

It is the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, afterall.

They didn't show any commercials during the Canada-Russia game (except some 5 sec ads once in a while). So I guess they have to show some of these after the game, which they tried to... switching between the game and the commercials... :dunno:

it was absolutely the most disgraceful thing. Im scared as to how they are going to be showing the semi-finals now. I woke up at 8:30 to watch the Sweden vs. Swiss game only to see curling :shakehead I said fine I'll accept that as long as they show the american vs Finn game and they did for about 5 minutes until they went to downhill skiing in the fog and alol I saw were European athletes going down the slope.

Why were you expecting Sweden-Switzerland when a Canadian team in a sport Canadians care about on a Canadian broadcaster were also playing?

Bob Cole's voice is timeless! He should be the sole play-by-play man for every single Olympic hockey game no matter how slow and stupid sounding he becomes!

It's not just CBC. Also, on USA or the NBC network, there are no commercials during USA games during the periods. These channels, however, do take the liberty of interupting analysis and play during other nations' games. That's just disrespectful.

After that, a comglomerate of CTV, Rogers Sportsnet, TSN, and OLN will carry the games in Canada. With 4 channels, I'm pretty sure every hockey game will be shown in it's entirety in Vancouver in '10

Actually it is as bad as stated in the first post. As a swede in Canada I was really pissed in the third period och Cze - Slo and after ten minuter (which was 8 minutes commercials and two minutes hockey) I went and listen to SR on the web. It actually was a joke, and the intermissions are even worse. Once they just showed a sign saying Sweden beat Switzerland and then they went back to commercials. May Sweden never be like this, I'll pay my TV-fee without complaining in the future.

The CBC are very frustrating. They have good people working for them but those are only the ones you actually see. The behind the scenes decision makers , those like the great Nancy Lee have questionable judgment at best. I am thrilled the CBC will be out of the mix for 2010.

It was either Bob Cole or Harry Neale that though Smyth had left the bench to go to the dressing room. The player that left was wearing a fricken RED jersey!!! Canada wore white today boys!!!
