0-0 so far. Canada has got to shoot the puck. Too many passes.

I want Canada to win gold and all, but it would be cool to see another upset and a Sweden-Finland final.

Simply put, they need to allow the women to bodycheck.

02-17-2006, 03:22 PM
I'm gonna have to root for Finland, partly because they are the underdogs, but mostly because we might get the gold then! And yeah, minus the goaltending, Finland probably better than Sweden. At least from what I've seen. :handclap:

Agree! there are lot of contact that is borderline checks anyway.. and I don't see why it'd hurt them to check. They are not made of glass.

The interference call on Finland was probably one of the worst calls I have seen in my life watching hockey.

I'm not to sure on women's rules, but she looks at the puck coming near her, swipes at it to clear it out of the zone and misses, gets completely smoked by a Canadian player, gets 2 minutes in the box.

Saarinen with a clean bodycheck on the Canadian girl, but you can't do that in women's hockey, and Apps deflects one in on the powerplay.

2-0 Canada.

I agree, even for a "no-bodychecking" game I think that was a very chintzy penalty on the Finnish forward. They called it interference but the puck was right there. :dunno:

I can't resist asking it.

Earlier I saw Holst, Martin and Rooth from Team Sweden...2 of them were fugly, with manly haircuts and such...Martin was ok.

Now I see a few of the girls in this game and errrr.......

Well....let's be straight to the point and offend rather than hold back....

Would these girls be offended if you'd call them lesbians?

They're there to play hockey, not to look hot or whatever it is that you're expecting from them. I'm sure they don't really care either way.

I agree, women hockey players certainly aren't the pinnacles of human beauty that male players such as Ricci, Chelios and Bertuzzi are.

I would say they would be offended. Even if some of them are lesbians, they probably would think it was none of our business and has nothing to do with hockey.

Women Hockey is so disapointing(as they left you always wanting more)....they look akward skating, they look like they will fall each second.......

Btw, do they have the right to hit? So many times there could have been highlights hits, huge hits in middle of the ice.......yet they do nothing :(

Wow......a penalty for looking like hockey (Canada).....a physical aspect....I know in Olympics (even men) there aren,t as many hits....but still, Olympics refs should let loose.

Yes. A lot looks like 5-5 PP for the Canuckettes. Finland has trouble getting speed out of their own zone. Wickenheisser had a slapper in the cross bar. Canadian PK now.

I wouldn't be surprised if they'd want to drop it against the ref. The officiating has been downright terrible. Regardless of that, Canada does dominate the game and would most likely walk away with a clear victory.

It has been a horribly reffed game. How am I not surprised that the ref is from the States? This ref reminds me of a certain one that reffed the 2002 gold medal game.

Like the numbers show, Canada was by far the superior team. They beat us in speed, skill and finishing. Hard to tell how good their defensing or goaltending is as those simply didn't get tested well enough. Their offense is lightyears ahead of everyone else from what I've seen.
