God Bless Canada
02-16-2006, 10:43 AM
I think we're looking at a 3-1, 4-1 (with an empty netter) type of game, similar to yesterday's game betweent the Czechs and the Germans. While the Germans should't pose much of a threat offensively, especially at 5-on-5, they execute their defensive system to a T. Their system play is as good as anyone in this tournament, they just don't have the offensive skills. Surrender two goals against a team like Canada, and they're done. And when you do crack their defensive shell, you still have to beat Olaf Kolzig.

The good news is Canada remembers how tough the Germans were in 2002, reducing the risk of suffering a fate like the Czechs did against the Swiss earlier today.

The important thing is Canada has to play better than they did yesterday. In a torunament like this, you have to improve every game. If they play better than they did yesterday, they'll win.

Would be nice, I have high hopes on Greiss.
But hopefully it won't end in a disaster for him when he has to stop shoots against one of the best players in the world.

I know nothing about Greiss, but no matter how good he is, he'll have a problem with Canada's offense. I'm predicting something like 6-1, depending on line combinations, the German game plan, etc.

It could easily be something much closer, but hey, a Canada homer I am. :D

Canada doesn't stand a chance at all. Considering we have a decent netminder this time, (meaning not Olaf Kölzig), and the shooting practice the team had on the Biathlon range today Canada isn't even competition. You guy's are victims.

I wish Greiss all of the best to it make to the NHL one day, but today he will be pounded pretty badly. At home in the German DEL he faces AHL, ECHL scraps and cast offs among others. I don't have any hope tonight.

My prediction:

Maple Leaves: 5 (Hopefully the Sens can light the lamp.*g*)
Federal Eagles: 2 (Greiss get's pulled after the first 7 shots result in 2 goals.)

It wasn't Leaf bashing, McCabe is the weak link on the defense and Redden was playing with him. It looks like it's mostly on the powerplay anyway, which is smart because Redden is similar to Kaberle.

Yes i know, but when you play with a team we have against canada you need luck also if you want to have a little chance. And the only team that had luck so far is Canada. Then you have no chance, that's clear.
