DevilsFan38 01-31-2006, 08:17 PM The Devils website has some great stuff on Stevens. It's got videos of some goals, hits (including the one on Lindros), and him raising the Stanley Cup.

thefiestygoat 01-31-2006, 08:52 PM Nice video collection. Too bad the hit on Berube is no longer up, that was an awesome clip.
DownFromNJ 01-31-2006, 08:56 PM I'll be at the game. Coming back from school in Rhode Island for it.
lucscaps 01-31-2006, 09:04 PM if you click on the p.shafer one it's the berube hit.
thefiestygoat 01-31-2006, 09:09 PM Thanks!
Belizarius 02-01-2006, 08:59 AM Well... I don't like these videos... so short! only 2-3 seconds videos, no replay...
There was a thread a few months ago with Stevens top-10 hits, can't find him again...
Anyone? :)
Brooklyndevil 02-01-2006, 10:10 AM Scott Stevens is the epitome of what a hockey player should be. I loved watching his passion, skills, leadership and his warrior mentality. He reminds me of another great captain I admired "Thurman Munson" of the Yankees. Thanks for the three cups and the trills. Good luck Cap! And hope to see you soon in the Devs organization!!

Great analogy!
He is our Munson.
Thank god he's still around too.

Amen to that!
Brooklyndevil 02-01-2006, 05:30 PM Nothing against Mess and the Ranger organization, but I hope there won't be any presentation of the Stanley cup. The cup should be lifted especially on the ice, only by the team that win's it that specific night.

I have to say I agree because that's what I always liked about the Stanley Cup. I hate it when NBA or NFL teams carry out their seven or however many trophies they've won in their history whenever they win a new one. If there's that many of them, it lessens the special feeling that comes when you finally earn it (I'm speaking as a fan of course, not knowing what it's like to win anything).
The Stanley Cup should be reserved for functions of the reigning champs, not something that gets rolled out for every charity golf event or something.

I could not agree more with your words.
joeskow 02-02-2006, 02:38 AM I was lucky enough to play pick up at SMA with Stevens, Rafalski, Langenbrunner, Albelin, Brodeur, Madden, and Driver during the lock-out. I've palyed Jr. A hockey so I can keep up. and let me tell you Stevens is a GOD. thankfully Stevens and Rafalski was on my team. the man is my Hero. I will be at the game Feb. 3 2006. the 1st Devil to have his # retired and rightfully so.
THANKS SCOTT! :yo:
wyldthing89 02-02-2006, 03:29 AM Well deserve to him. Was one of the best hitter of all time. One fact about him, some peoples talk about him for dirty hits, this guy have under 10 elbowing penaltys during all his career, that says it all, he was clean all the way and a great captain.
Guttersnipe 02-02-2006, 04:57 AM "It's going to be a big game for us," Brodeur said. "We'll get to see how we play against the top teams. It's going to be something quite special. I played with (Stevens) for 11 or 12 years and we won three Stanley Cups. He was my captain.
"I don't know how long (the ceremony) will be. I don't think it'll be as long as Messier. I don't think there will be people singing (as Dana Reeve did at the Garden)."
Gotta love Brodeur and his love of the Rangers' organization.

Sonny Lamateena 02-02-2006, 08:57 AM Congrats to Scott Stevens, his career deserves alot more press then it got. Its a shame he never won a Norris Trophy because their were certainly years he was the best defencemen in the NHL. Great leader, underrated offensively, great in his own end, vicious hitter, good fighter, a True Devil.

The Cup will be in beautiful (not really) Sioux City, IA for the USHL All-Star game. I'd go, but I'll be coaching track up in equally as beautful (and equally not really) Mankato, MN. Sigh.
