Anyone know what the latest is with the proposed Brooklyn arena for the Nets? I haven't heard anything about it in months and I guess it's pretty safe to assume it won't be ready for the '07-'08 season, assuming it gets built at all. So, where would the Nets play that season? Have they made any comments about playing in Newark (which I would imagine would be more profitable that the Meadowlands, even for only a season or two) or are they just intent on waiting it out in East Rutherford until the new arena is ready in Brooklyn? Also, are they still planning on keeping Continental Airlines Arena around or blowing it up once both teams are gone?

Something tells me they will end up in Newark.
I have not heard any news about the Brooklyn Arena. Xanadu is a work in progress. I could see them going back to LI but the city has no taken a serious move forward to build a new arena.
Temporary or not I for one think they are headed to Newark.

I've spoken to the Nets ticket officer and nothing has been done yet (we buy Nets tickets for clients). They are still trying to buy properties to make it happen. He was still up in the air as far as completion/move date, but I believe their target is '08/'09.
As Devsfan8 mentioned, they could go to Newark or even end up staying at the CAA with Xanudu coming in. There are no plans to tear the CAA, the state maybe willing to put together a nice package for the Nets.
If the Nets get and Arena, The Isles are planning a new one. There will be 5 competing indoor venues for events in the Greater NYC area! That's crazy.

If the Nets go to Newark...The Devils would be their landlord. That would be an awesome new revenue stream for the Devils

I live in the area of Brooklyn where they proposed the arena and it's not going to happen. The outcry against it is immense from both residents and businesses.
