I thought Lou would be at least top five, but I guess building three Stanley Cup teams with little money and your own draft picks doesn't count for much these days.

The guy is clearly not a hockey fan, if he was he would so Lou some love.
Its better that way, LL keeps winning and everyone body tries to build Devils Clone team.
Forbes.com showed us love.
DownFromNJ 01-27-2006, 10:23 AM What a horrible list. Billy Beane left off. Brian Sabeon given an honorable mention. Lacroix, Holland, and Feaster over Lou?
dkball7 01-27-2006, 10:28 AM 4 of the 10 guys on that list haven't even won a championship with their respective teams. Last I checked that's what makes you great as an executive.

Using that criteria, I'm not suprised that Clarke didn't make the list.
Devilsfanatic 01-27-2006, 10:54 AM Rob Babcock should be on this list
GentlemanOfLeisure 01-27-2006, 11:15 AM I printed this article for two reasons.
1. I had to actually see it in my hands to believe it. Bill Polain??
2. at my job, the men's room is out of toliet paper. I think you can see where i'm going with this....

Easton 01-27-2006, 12:38 PM Well, at least my Braves GM made it...first! Schuerholz has gone through so much. Time Warner slashed the Braves' payroll by 20 million in the last few years. Right now the team is on sell so there is a possibility our payroll could take another drop or remain the same. While Schuerholz has been successful in finding players under a tight budget, he doesn't have the funds a lot of the times to get the right players. Both my teams coincidently have had great success with their farm system and their GM's are respected throughout their respective league. :yo:
Ronnie Bass 01-27-2006, 12:43 PM Found the clown's email address, can't resist but to send him an email to bust his stupid chops.

Here it is for anyone else wanting to do the same.
DevilFisch 01-27-2006, 12:57 PM For Lacroix and Holland, the author makes the point of player development and team success are key factors.
If I'm not mistaken, don't the Devils have the most success through the draft in the NHL (more players drafted by NJ and in the NHL than any other team) and have won more Cups than Lacroix and Holland under Lou Lamoriello?
How can anyone forget about this?
I'm not even sure a strongly worded email will fix his ignorance of the facts.

Yeah probably, but it makes me feel better, you know, in a kinda of get it off your chest way.
sundstrom32* 01-28-2006, 05:49 PM ridiculous.......... on the bottom of the article there were others who received votes..........Lou not among them. He may be the best ever and he is not even on the list
it's like leaving Bill and Belicheck and Bill PArcells off list of greatest nfl coaches
Bajahobo 01-28-2006, 11:31 PM Ridiculous.
And then to add on to that, a slap in the face from Farber in the latest SI from a pretty decent article he wrote about Shanahan's role in the rule changes:
...and last Saturday the Colorado Avalanche and Detroit certainly remembered their lines. The sanctioned mayhem that marked games between the two best teams of the past decade has dissipated...
I must have missed that third Avalanche cup, or the two the Red Wings had won in the past five years.
David Puddy 01-29-2006, 12:43 AM This is a real travesty because Lou Lamoriello has been a great sports executive for well over 20 years. He was a superb administrator/executive at Providence College and with Hockey East before joining the Devils organization. Not only did he help to elevate the hockey program at PC, he was important in the growth of the basketball program to national prominence during his tenure as athletic director.
Staying with basketball for a moment, Lou Lamoriello served as GM of the NBA's New Jersey Nets as the team won two Eastern Conference Championships. This was during PuckHoldings loose affiliation with the YankeesNets group. George Steinbrenner was quoted as saying Lamoriello would make a good general manager of his New York Yankees during this time.
Lou Lamoriello currently holds four titles with the Devils organization: president, CEO, general manager and interim head coach. He was also brought into the CBA negotiations because of his standing with both the owners and members of the NHLPA.
There has been a lot of Lamoriello bashing since the start of the season, and especially in December, so that may have factored. However, his fine accomplishments far out way the mistakes that he has made at the helm of the team.
To conclude, this is a horrible oversight.
brule2000 01-29-2006, 12:02 PM Isn't this exactly how Lou likes it?
Brooklyndevil 01-29-2006, 01:25 PM There are a lot of people other then the ones on this board who just dis-like Lou whether it's jealousy or for other reasons.
Willis 01-29-2006, 02:18 PM As an Oiler fan Lou should be there. Why look at the sucess he has had. However it should not be about just winning cups. Remember some teams are eliminated for teh last 10 years simply due to them not having any ability to compete. For instance here in Edmonton, Lowe has done well at building through the draft, but money has forced us to continually trade talent. So he is at a disadvantage to begin with. That extra 10 million that Lou had might have meant a difference between a cup here in Edmonton not to mention that Lowe has only been on the job for 5 years now and pretty much everyone we have is through our system. THen again look at the Rangers and Leafs. But I digress.
If you ask me Lou is currently the top GM in the league. However this year he has let things slide. Lets see how things look in 5 more years with the cap situation.
4check22 01-30-2006, 12:37 PM What you talkin 'bout, Willis?
Sorry. Just had to.

LOL! I amost did that myself and for the same reason, because I had too.
Verbeek12 01-31-2006, 11:07 PM dropped this bufoon an email. Fox Sports Net should pull the column due to either drunkeness or sheer incompetency
Bubba Thudd 02-01-2006, 07:48 AM No love for Lou. :biglaugh:
Lacroix is on there though, so I'm content. :yo:
