Just thought i post this about one of our favorite former Devils.
What do you think he'll do?? say f' the ducks, or f' team canada?
goin2hell 01-26-2006, 05:47 PM Well his brother isn't on team Canada so the choice should be obvious. F' Team Canada

True, but he'll drag it out to make it seem like a tough decision.

Maybe he'll refuse to play unless they let Rob play too.
Yeah, that's it, instead of Gagne they can take Rob Niedermayer.
Devilsfanatic 01-27-2006, 12:46 AM Oh for cryin out loud.......this is terrible news, Canada Neids him, he'll come and play for his country.

That was original :shakehead honestly people, it's 6 months old, time to move on, he's gone, and I wish him all the best, unbelievable how his success here in Jersey is forgotten on a whim.

I'm not forgetting what he gave us and I appreciate his play on the Devils. Scott left a bad taste in everyone's mouth (including Rob's!). Good riddance, if you don't wan't to be a part of the Devils, fine, same thing for Holik. If they really were concerned with keeping it family, they would of signed in Vancouver, where I believe the parents live. The Devils try to acquire Rob on many occasions, to no avail, he even give his brother a million out of his pocket.

He did keep it in the family, he's closer to his inlaws, the parents moved to California, everyone is there, it's his decision, he didn't bolt to a rival, he went to a team where we'll face him once in his entire tenure as a Duck, the situation is FAR different than Holik, he left on loyalty based with his family, Holik left for money, get over it everyone.
He hung Lou out to dry, he should've told Lou earlier what his real intentions were, by the time he made up his mind there was nobody left to sign so we ended up with Malakhov & McGillis instead of somebody like say Pronger?

first of all, wasnt pronger traded?
secondly, everyone knew nieds was interested in playing with his bro. it wasnt anything new
RangerBoy 01-29-2006, 10:50 AM This was one of the topic's on Satellite Hotstove. All four panelists:Ron MacLean,John Davidson,Pierre LeBrun(CP)and Jacques Demers felt Niedermayer should have the surgery and miss the Olympics. His loyalty should be towards the Ducks ownership and Brian Burke.Have the knee surgery.Use the break to recover and come back strong for the playoff push
Firstly, Yes you're right, Pronger was aquired by a trade but there were a lot of other better d-men that could've been signed as free agents.
Secondly, if everyone knew he was leaving someone should've told Lou, either he was lying to Lou or Lou made a huge mistake not knowing what everyone else knew?

List the major UFAs who signed on the 5th day? (I think it was the Wednesday, after the Saturday that deals could be made) If everyone else was ready to go, what made Niedermayer drag his feet for so long? surely not lil' Rob's contract?
I agree Lou should have been ready with plan 'B' and implemented it sooner. Anyone think everybody would be praising Lou if he went out signed Foote, Rathje, Hatcher, or Gonchar without giving Nieds a chance to make a deal?
If you think Lou got ripped for his summer deals, how much do you think he would be getting ripped if he read Niedermayer's mind and only gave him 24 hours to give him an answer? Where would the Devils be in the standings with your #1 UFA D signing not named Scott Niedermayer? Take your pick of any of the UFA D who were available last July/August.

i know i personally wouldve been PISSED if we had gotten hatcher, gonchar, or even rathje...
NJDraft 02-02-2006, 02:58 AM Once a Devil gets to UFA status it's over, he isn't coming back. I never thought Scott would return. He probably figures to split the rest of his life between BC and Socal.
He's done it all so he went for the money and lifestyle.
Good luck to him (and his sore knee!).
