From the River Rats web site:
January 23, 2006 - The Albany River Rats announced today that right wing Aleksander Suglobov has been reassigned by the New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey League. The team also announced that Suglobov has been selected to replace defenseman David Hale on the PlanetUSA AHL All-Star team at the upcoming 2006 Rbk Hockey AHL All-Star Classic. Suglobov was also selected to play in the 2004 AHL All-Star Classic but was unable to participate due to injury.

That's cool that he gets to go in Davey's place.
Not crazy about him sent down with Marshall hurt, cause that leaves the dreaded Langdon to play.

That's nice that he gets to play in the all star game. I really hope they call up someone else instead of playing Langdon - I'd love to see Bergfors (though I doubt that will happen).

If we need a hard-hitting winger that's also solid with his defensive game, then I'm all for bringing up Clarkson. He's put us respectable numbers in this season, and plays on the Rats PP and PK units. I've seen him out there for a few 5 on 3 penalty kills and he looks really solid and composed out there. He's also by no means afraid to drop the gloves, and can hit with the best of them.
But I am disappointed with Sluggo being called up and not playing a single game, and then called down when a spot opens up for him! And on right wing too! Unbelievable. :shakehead

I hope this makes Mogilny a permanent healthy scratch...

That's good, there's no point having him hanging out with Langdon and Brown on the Devils.

I'm just as puzzled. Doesn't make any sense to me either....

The only thing I can think is they called him up but then with the winning streak never wanted to change the lineup until they lose. But then the Rats need a rep for the all-star game and after Hale - Suggy was the next best thing. I bet he comes up after and actually gets some game time.

FSN New York Skills Competition: 2/1, 12:30 am ET All-Star Game: 2/5, 4:00 pm ET
Let's see...the skills competition at half-past midnight tonight (or tomorrow morning, if you choose to look at it that way); and the game on Super Bowl Sunday.
FSNY must really like being taken to the woodshed.

I have to go out and buy some video tape. I wonder if I can convince the people at the Super Bowl party I go to to catch the game before the GAME.

Just in case anyone is curious, Suggy will be competing in fastest skater, pass and score, and the breakaway relay.
