It was required of players who were selected to the huge preliminary roster that all the countries released. Berard wasn't included on the final 23-man roster.

I wonder if Berard was left off the Olympic team because he wasn't good enough, or was it because the USOC had the steroid results before the team was named. We will probably never know.

And the US Olympic team was named on Dec. 19th. So did the test results come in before or after the 19th???

It is interesting to see if USA Hockey were considering him and were detered by the test or if he just was not in their plans.
