Canada will in all probability win by a good spread but that's second to me.It's how they play this game that is more important. They need to continue to work on areas that are not up to snuff like break-out execution from their d-men and moving the puck smartly and smoothly on the PP.I trust a Sutter coached team will make sure bad habits don't start to creep in.It will also be an opportuinity for guys that have been underwhelming so far such as Latendresse to start getting their games and confidence going. We need all guys playing up to their potential to win this thing.

The biggest concern is to keep improving and not to get into bad/lazy habits.

I don't think this team will get into bad habits. Remember who is coaching the team. Sutter won't let them develop bad habits.

Even though the game is against Switzerland some Canadian players have to have a big game.

Latendresse is one of them. He has played poorly in both exhibition games and the game against Finland. If he continues to play like this he won't be seeing the ice a lot. He needs to start creating offence and start using the body more.

On defence Barker and Bourdon have to step it up. Barker has to be a force physically and offensively. He should be Canada's best defenceman but he wasn't against Finland. Bourdon has to play better in his own zone. He gave the puck away too many times.

I think Pouliot will have a big game tonight.

Downie has a flu virus I believe. Sutter wants a "pack of fools mentality" hoping for bad penalties and neutral zone turnovers by his club. Its an odd coaching strategy but Sutter knows what he is doing. Kolliker admits to being perplexed but knows Canada is a tough draw in their home rink. Berra will need to stop 50 shots to give the Swiss a chance.

Canada looks for its second straight win at the 2006 world junior hockey championship in Vancouver when it faces Switzerland today (6:30pm et/3:30pm pt on TSN). Justin Pogge, who back-stopped Canada to a 5-1 win over Finland in their tournament opener, is expected to start against the Swiss.

To touch upon what McGuire said in his conversation with Sutter about Boyd being in better shape and more mentally focused.

Compared to last season, Boyd is noticably bigger, both on and off the ice. At the Calgary Flames camp, he didn't look undersized, which most players do. Increasing his strength the way he has will only accelerate how quickly he'll make the Calgary Flames.

Well so far Boyd, Omarra, Pyatt, Bertram, Downie have played quite well. Toews is a keeper.

They need a little more from the Comeau line I think. They've not been bad but just not great. I think they'll pick it up for the US.

Why is Latendresse on this team again????? I'm still baffled that this kid somehow almost made the Canadiens. I've seen him play about 8 times and he just seems to vanish for large periods of time. He hasn't done squat in these 2 games and seems to have played himself into the 13th forward role. This kid just doesn't have what it takes imo. If he doesn't pick it up he'll be bench warming the rest of the tournament.

Cogliano----SHOOT THE PUCK!! He's a fantastic talent but at least 3 times tonight he should've shot and looked pass first.

Staal and Parent have been very impressive. They are the go to pair for this tournament, there is no doubt.

Beautiful behind the back/spinorama pass from Pouliot to give Bolland an empty net tap in after a blocked shot of Barker's from the point.

Canada has to do a better job of clearing the shooting lane so that Pogge can see these shots.

Come on guy, the shot was from the side boards for heaven's sakes!!! He needs to make himself big in the net. If you watch the replay, he's not covering near enough of the net. He's left the top half side wide open and that's where the puck went.

Certainly, a lot of the problem is that the defense needs to clear the lane. All 5 guys need to hear about that goal because it was a pathetic clearing attempt and all around bad shift. I'm sure Sutter will go over it.

This team has to start shooting the bloody puck. They pass, pass, pass all the time. Every 2 on 1----pass. Somebody Shoot!!

This seems to be the way it goes. I know I've been watching this tournament for 17 years and Canada has had trouble against perceived "lower" opponents. They seem to play down to their level and just lack that killer intensity.

Pierre McGuire doesn't like diving. He tells all of the kids who may be watching not to dive because diving ruins the integrity of the game.

You had a coach who told you to dive???

Nice to see the ref call the dive after Switzerland spent the entire third period flopping all over the ice.

The ref was horrible, he shouldn't be allowed to work anymore.

Nice too see that the Swiss didn't just roll over to Canada--nothing builds a team's character like a near upset.

How did Blake Comeau play?

At least the ref called the last dive. He missed the first 10 but finally noticed when the punk dove RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIS FACE!!

I'm sick of this diving crap. This is what happens when you have a POOR ref calling everything early. It facilitates these sort of actions.

Not a great game at all by Canadas juniors... I dont want to hear they played down to the level of their competition.... shouldnt be an excuse... Sutter better have the guys ready for Norway tomorrow... He is still undefeated as Team Canada Junior coach......Learn from tonight boys that you have to work hard for sixty mins

Yes they did, they should be proud of their effort against Canada, especially their goalie!

Agreed. I've always hated that logic.

First: Good game by the Swiss, nice game plan and stood up to the physical game really well.Nice defensive effort all night and played a good box in their end and a nice set in the neutral zone.

Second: Canada was not sharp and did'nt get to the spots well enough tonight. They had a devil of a time picking up passes in the o-zone and when they would get it............they would'nt shoot it.

bad game all around.

How did Blake Comeau play?

Comeau played a strong game I thought. In my opinion, he's one of Canada's best forwards and is the kind of guy, from what I've seen, that I'd want out there for the last minute... I've really become a fan of his.
