I saw the thread on the main board about the Caps looking for defense and was surprised they passed up Timmander at the waiver draft.Did injuries hit the D after the waiver draft?
For the first 30 games last season, Timmander was very good.His game fell off in the 2nd half of the season.
Isles would probably dump him for just a late pick to be rid of his salary.He's playing in Bridgeport.

Right now the Caps defense looks like this...
Gonchar(norris trophy candidate)
Witt(just below allstar caliber)
Eminger(19 year old 12th overall pick in 2002)
Doig(minor league free agent signed last year...55 Caps games last year his most in any NHL season)
Kwiatkowski(acquired from Ottawa for future considerations...34games last year his most NHL games in a season)
Boumedienne(acquired for 30year old AHL veteran Dean Melason..10 NHL games)
The reason that the Caps have defense problems is because they have a rookie and 3 guys that are on the ragged edge between marginal NHL players and AHL players...in other words Timmander is not the solid and reliable NHL defenseman that the Caps would be needing.

Much rather have Timmander than Kiwi or Doig.JBoum is a solid player if he gets decent minutes, like Kiwi and Doig minutes.

timmander is a much better player than Kiwi, and Gruden. I wouldn't say Doig or Boumer but he's at least as good as them..which isn't great but anything is an upgrade over Kiwi and Gruden(just when I thought there couldn't be a worse dman in the nhl than Kiwi)

Maybe Timander is better. But the idea of another unwanted defenseman plucked off of another teams bargain bin AHL team isn't what I want to see.

Agreed. Also this is Cassidys team and you know he wont give one of his boys spots to someone else...

He makes a salary? No way the Caps will pick him up.

I was surprised when Timmander was demoted.I thought after he'd passed thru waivers that he'd be bought out.
I'm not sure if demoting him, isn't the isles way of trying to pressure him into taking their buyout offer.
