Brooklyndevil 12-11-2005, 04:13 PM If they come out and play like they did the second and third period of the Colorado game, they should win.
crashlanding 12-11-2005, 06:18 PM Malakhov takes yet another dumb dumb holding penalty.
DevilsFan38 12-11-2005, 06:24 PM Devs radio feed isn't working for me, so I have to listen to the Blue Jackets' :shakehead

same for me.
It's going to finish at 1 AM in France, I will sleep at work tomorrow morning... :biglaugh:
DevilsFan38 12-11-2005, 06:27 PM Woo-hoo! Devils goal!
ratsgirl 12-11-2005, 06:27 PM first goal of the season for Paul Martin.

ahhhh....me too, hell with it!
ciao
crashlanding 12-11-2005, 06:31 PM Nice play by Martin.
This is what happens when we add the dmen to the offensive zone play. We can't score 3 on 5.
DevilsFan38 12-11-2005, 06:36 PM Can we please stop taking penalties?
DevilsFan38 12-11-2005, 06:41 PM Well, sounds like our PK is looking good so far.
Oh, and if their radio announcer says "Mala-hoff" one more time, I think I'm gonna go crazy. Did he not notice there's a "k" in there?
Belizarius 12-11-2005, 06:50 PM He's pronouncing right... in Russian it's "hoff" and not "khov"... :)
when you see a "Kh" you don't pronounce the K but it's a kind of "rh"...

when you see a "Kh" you don't pronounce the K but it's a kind of "rh"...
Really? I never knew that. So all the other announcers out there are pronouncing it wrong?
DevilsFan38 12-11-2005, 07:06 PM Man, it sounded like that was an awesome fight, too bad I can't watch the game.
TaiMaiShu 12-11-2005, 07:12 PM it really is sad to see a lower placed team have so many fans in those seats while we have trouble filling up the lower section
TaiMaiShu 12-11-2005, 07:17 PM Man, it sounded like that was an awesome fight, too bad I can't watch the game.
not really just long....damn it zherdev scores

crashlanding 12-11-2005, 07:21 PM Somebody needs to teach Rafalski how to not hit shinpads with his shot.
crashlanding 12-11-2005, 07:23 PM can some one explain to me how a fight can change the momentum of a game :help:
The fight has nothing to do with it. The Devils are back to their lackadaisical play. If they need to be motivated by the coach for every shift, these guys should give half their salary to the coaching staff.
TaiMaiShu 12-11-2005, 07:24 PM Somebody needs to teach Rafalski how to not hit shinpads with his shot.
i hate that :madfire:
The Omen* 12-11-2005, 07:25 PM It the new Dev hockey, get the lead and sit on your heels till they score. It works everytime.
The Omen* 12-11-2005, 07:27 PM can some one explain to me how a fight can change the momentum of a game :help:
It can't against the Dev. We don't have a legit fighter. It would only happen if lets say Landgoon gave a beat down to Brash. Why is Langoon still on the team? He's not even a decent fighter.
TaiMaiShu 12-11-2005, 07:28 PM whooo gionta
crashlanding 12-11-2005, 07:28 PM Gionta...so good.
DevilsFan38 12-11-2005, 07:29 PM :handclap: :handclap: :handclap:
ratsgirl 12-11-2005, 07:29 PM gionta with his 18th of the season.
dkball7 12-11-2005, 07:30 PM gionta with his 18th of the season.
He'll eclipse his career high in 7 games at this pace.
TaiMaiShu 12-11-2005, 07:36 PM we are getting outshot pretty badly
DevilsFan38 12-11-2005, 07:57 PM It would be nice if we could get the PP going
DevilsFan38 12-11-2005, 07:59 PM :madfire: :madfire: :madfire:
We don't take advantage of a 5 on 3, and now it's tied
NJ_Devil_Boy 12-11-2005, 08:04 PM Lovely...
Are they trying for more 50/50 in the shootout? :shakehead
NJ_Devil_Boy 12-11-2005, 08:05 PM wOOt! More penalties FTL! :biglaugh:
Note: Play Parise more or send him down. Under 4 mins of TOI is pretty lame.

Hey. There's 50 seconds left. The Jackets are completely capable of losing this game still. :)
Trust me.

I didn't say we couldn't win this game, we should be able to beat them easily. We shouldn't have to go into OT (or a shoot out) against this team. :shakehead
DevilsFan38 12-11-2005, 08:27 PM Going to OT...sounds like we were lucky to just hang on :shakehead
38 shots against and 0-7 on the PP against Columbus. That's disgusting

I was going to say that, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. This game we should have had two points, there's no excuse for it.
joeskow 12-11-2005, 08:41 PM yeah and I have season tickets. do they allow refunds. the most expensive team to watch, with least exciting product go figure.
TaiMaiShu 12-11-2005, 08:41 PM :banghead: :banghead: i hate the fact that we have the talent to win us games but we can't
devils1983 12-11-2005, 08:42 PM This team has no offense. Really, our only offense is Gionta, Gomez (our set up guy, lead the league in assists last season played), and hopefully Elias when he gets back into the lineup....and even then...it will take him a few weeks to get back into game shape. Mogilny has been a total disappointment, or D is horrible....Marty is the only reason why we are not losing by 4-6 goals a game.
It's safe to say to write of this year and hopefully unload the dead weight during the offseason. I've read a report that a team may be interested in McGillis.
joeskow 12-11-2005, 08:43 PM can I exchange my tickets for ranger tickets. atleast the garden is fun.

That's what kills me too. My roomie is a Caps fan, she's not expecting them to be good this year, so it's not as painful when they lose.
It kills me that they have the talent to do well, the heart just isn't there.

A slumping New Jersey team ran into a rising Columbus team, you also caught a Nikolai Zherdev who's awaken from his coma, and Jan Hrdina finally put his stick to good use other than hooking.
Seriously, the season isn't lost with a loss to the Blue Jackets, you guys haven't played St. Louis yet, have you? ;)
Second week in a row we've went 2-1... Columbus isn't exactly a horrible team, we're just a shade under mediocre

Give'em Hell! 12-11-2005, 08:52 PM trade some players, play the youth. our future is not looking very bright if we are playing our only two rookies a combined 6 minutes against Columbus. this is absolutely absurd. it actually pisses me off the way this organization utilizes our prospects. what do we have to lose! LARRY WAKE UP! this team is stale, let the young guys play.
Millions Livio 12-11-2005, 08:54 PM The Jackets are a good team when they are on their game. It doesn't really help we literally have had almost our top two lines out on injury all season.

I agree, at least the young guys will play with some passion. Parise has tons of potential, but he's not going to realize any of it if he spends the whole game rotting on the bench.

He seems to lean towards the vets and the vets seem no to be listening. This nonsense of bring up Pihlman, sneding him back a game or two later, recalling Tallackson and doing the same thing seems to be a waste. Parise is all but invisible.
Same thing with Hale. Why he isn't in NJ is a joke. It's not like NJ is playing stellar defense. Hale can't be any worst than some of the poor signings that were made. Who would've thought that by December NJ would be 14 points behind us!
Have you any info on the alleged Elias groin tear? If that is true, I read somewhere that they thought he would be back skating in 2 weeks. While true, I doubt he will be effective even if he recovered from the Hep. My son played with a torn groin and while he could play, he was limited and he had a very hard time coming back quickly after playing a game. It took him 4-5 days to recover. He plays D1 soccer and they would play friday & sunday. He could not recover in time if he played friday's game by sunday. It got progressively worst and weaker. He ended up having Surgery and missed the following season. That would be truly sad news if true. Bad enough the poor guy got Hep A.
BigBully4 12-11-2005, 09:17 PM This is the lowest point in my Devils fan career.
Just an awful, awful display. Four losses in a row. Parise not playing. McGillis scratched every game. Brodeur trade rumors. Rangers winning.
This is a nightmare I want to wake up from.

someone please tell me that elias doesn't have a groin tear.
joeskow 12-11-2005, 09:21 PM 1995-1996 was pretty bad, but I think this year takes the cake. no playoffs. ranger fans please tell us what it's like in may with no games scheduled.

This team is so frustrating!
Very frustrating. There just doesn't seem to be any urgency at all. To be honest, I'm more concerned about the passive, pansy defensemen we have, rather than the offense. I can't believe how unphysical this d-core is. Something needs to be done to wake these guys up. In general, the whole team is sagging, but I think it's the sloppy defensive play that is the most concerning. These high shot totals against are ridiculous.

DevilFisch 12-12-2005, 12:42 AM I guess it was a good thing I spent a little more than 9 hours at school getting little done on a project due Wednesday and getting somewhat done with a take home final instead of seeing this game.
Hopefully, this is the nadir of the season and it will only get better.

Also, to all you "Mystery Science Theater 3000" fans, I know the guy that makes it. His name is Pedge Jameson; he is a complete and utter failure at life. He actually ran away crying from an internet radio station he was on because he thought his stupid slots made him rule the station.
I am not making this up whatsoever, look him up if you want. The guy is in his 30's, he lives in a trailer less than 20 feet away from his mother’s trailer. You heard me right; he lives in a trailer connected to his parents with his 240 pound girlfriend. I could not make this up if I wanted to. He is the most immature guy I've ever met in his 30's. To me, this is just either a complete overreaction or the statement of a complete Devils newbie. If getting one of two points against the Blue Jackets in December somehow compares to the hearbreak of the 2001 Stanley Cup Finals, or the 1997 Eastern Conference semifinals, or the 2004 quarterfinals, or the entire 1996 season...you need to get back on your meds. And those are just examples of the last decade of Devils hockey...

Or for that matter cheering for the team when it was in Colorado and making the playoffs was a great success. Those were the days.

I hate when people talk like this. If you think that you can easily beat any team in the NHL on the road then then it serves you right to lose.

Sorry. Right now, this is the worst I've felt as a Devils fan. Yes, everything you stated above were low points. But TO ME, this is the worst I've felt. If you don't agree, I apologize. Questioning my maturity was getting off topic. It's good to see you know your Devils history and I'm very proud of the fact that you followed the team during their Colorado/Kansas City days and know every stat about them and this means nothing compared to the doldrums when they were in their infancy, according to you.
Still, this is the lowest point. I'm not excited watching them, I don't think they're going anywhere, and I think a major change is needed.
Meatwad 12-12-2005, 12:39 PM I think the way things have been going, the Devils are likely due to turn it around for the last half of the season. I'm seeing alot of similarity comparing this year and the last year before the lockout.
zarathustra1900 12-12-2005, 12:51 PM fwiw, I believe some serious changes are on the way gents...
I think, as said elsewhere, that the second half of the season will be different.
But this game really hurt..almost painful..
