Devilsfanatic 12-09-2005, 07:18 PM Boo Colorado.
Puck33 12-09-2005, 07:56 PM Boo Colorado.
Boo devils... :D
DevilFisch 12-09-2005, 08:07 PM I won't be able to catch most of this game tonight, as I got take-home finals and reliability projects to put dents into, metaphorically speaking.
The worst stat from the Calgary game was NJ going 1 for *10* on the power play. At the very least, I hope NJ turns out a better performance tonight. I think they will, based on little more than hope and optimism. Go Devils!
tangible_faith 12-09-2005, 08:20 PM If they play like crap again tonight I am cancelling my centre ice package. I am not paying $30+ a month for this garbage.
Main Devil 12-09-2005, 08:24 PM Marty has to steal one tonight. Avs have firepower, it's Marty's turn. Devils need to stay out of the box to win.
Main Devil 12-09-2005, 08:27 PM If they play like crap again tonight I am cancelling my centre ice package. I am not paying $30+ a month for this garbage.
I had to pay $129 in full. Even if a 4 month plan was available it can't be canceled.
Brooklyndevil 12-09-2005, 08:41 PM I see Chico has harmless and a good spirited goof, but can we once have a little objectivity by him. It sure would be refreshing.
Tao Jones 12-09-2005, 08:41 PM No McGillis again
The Omen* 12-09-2005, 08:44 PM At least we consistantly suck. Great job by the D knocking people down once again. OH there a guy in front of Marty, quick bring him a cup of coffee.
Brunette on the PP...here we go again.
The Omen* 12-09-2005, 08:47 PM We have to have the biggest group of tampon wearing defensemen. People chopping away at Marty and no one get clobbered. :shakehead White *** are you doing? What did you now go into the Martin school of checking? Un F ing believeable.

Time to start reading up. :yo:
what style defenseman should we draft this year? :sarcasm:
The Omen* 12-09-2005, 09:09 PM Again player in front of the net and he doesn't get knockdown. This team is pityful. There is just no passion what so ever. Larry how about I don't know taking responsibility?
Trade Ralfi, he's a liability on both ends. Cinderella man it's midnight for you.
tangible_faith 12-09-2005, 09:10 PM I see Chico has harmless and a good spirited goof, but can we once have a little objectivity by him. It sure would be refreshing.Chico is probably the nicest sports personality I have ever met(I have met well over a hundred) but for God sakes, get him off the TV. He is horrible..
tangible_faith 12-09-2005, 09:11 PM 3-0
devils1983 12-09-2005, 09:11 PM Might as well look ahead to next year, when we can hopefully unload some of our dead weight. During this past summer, while every other team loaded up with offensive talent, the Devils sat and watched. Our big offensive signing...Mogilny...oooooooh!!! Lou, get up off your butt and shake up this team.
The Omen* 12-09-2005, 09:12 PM Chico is probably the nicest sports personality I have ever met(I have met well over a hundred) but for God sakes, get him off the TV. He is horrible..
Agreed, he's not watching the same game we are.
The Omen* 12-09-2005, 09:13 PM Is it me or does Robinson look like Freddy Cruger?
ice berg slim 12-09-2005, 09:14 PM Is it me or does Robinson look like Freddy Cruger?
lol...its not just you
tangible_faith 12-09-2005, 09:15 PM Disipline this team. Pihlman has taken too many stupid penalties. ANybody who takes a stupid penalty especially in the opposing teams zone should be benched or in Pihlman's case, sent down. Play Clemmenson more. He has been playing almost as well as Marty has and make a lot less. Put Mogilny back with Gomez. The KGG line played two good games. Why is Mogilny with slapshot Madden and Pando? I am better than Pando offensively? In my opinion the only players that have played well this year are Kozlov, Gionta, Brylin and BRown(for the first 15 games).
tangible_faith 12-09-2005, 09:16 PM Agreed, he's not watching the same game we are. When there was 10 minutes left he said besides the Colorado goal and the first few minutes of the game the Devils have played very well. Why didn't he just say, the Devils almost had a scoring chance so far this period?
NJ_Devil_Boy 12-09-2005, 09:17 PM Making rookie goalies look like Vezina winners again. :(
tangible_faith 12-09-2005, 09:17 PM Making rookie goalies look like Vezina winners again. :(No. They have to get by that less than average defense first.
crashlanding 12-09-2005, 09:18 PM When there was 10 minutes left he said besides the Colorado goal and the first few minutes of the game the Devils have played very well. Why didn't he just say, the Devils almost had a scoring chance so far this period?
You have to admit, the three minutes that Chico was talking about the Devils showed more life than we've seen in a month.
The Omen* 12-09-2005, 09:20 PM Chico "Well Doc the Devils didn't do that bad the 1st period. Marty kept them in there. They could have easily been down 5-0. There were two Dev shot that missed the net by 2 feet but you take 23 inches away from those shots and its a 3-2 game. I really like their chances" :help:
tangible_faith 12-09-2005, 09:21 PM You have to admit, the three minutes that Chico was talking about the Devils showed more life than we've seen in a month. The can play the best they have in the history of the team, but I would rather take playing good for 60 minutes than great for 20 and horrible for 40.
Unthinkable 12-09-2005, 09:22 PM 2nd straight game where Stan has advocated embarrassing some of these players publically.
tangible_faith 12-09-2005, 09:23 PM Chico "Well Doc the Devils didn't do that bad the 1st period. Marty kept them in there. They could have easily been down 5-0. There were two Dev shot that missed the net by 2 feet but you take 23 inches away from those shots and its a 3-2 game. I really like their chances" :help:If the Avs had a soccer net, it could have been 8-2 Devils and there is no way the Avs would have come back.
Devilsfanatic 12-09-2005, 09:23 PM  I asked the Avs not to do game 6 all over again, and they are. Final score will be 4-0.
devils1983 12-09-2005, 09:23 PM ....it doesn't help that the Devils don't have a "leader" in the dressing room.
TaiMaiShu 12-09-2005, 09:26 PM my bro's favorite team is the aves. they are a fun team to watch. they are a goalie from being tops in the west. and i just hope it stays close tonight
Main Devil 12-09-2005, 09:27 PM Lou stand up
Fire Chico, hire Dano Trade Marty and Gomez make a stetement be a leader.
tangible_faith 12-09-2005, 09:28 PM ....it doesn't help that the Devils don't have a "leader" in the dressing room. They have leaders in Mogilny, Madden, Rafalski, Pando and Brylin etc. This team is built on leadership. Too bad nobody is stepping up.
The Omen* 12-09-2005, 09:30 PM Bottle of wine is out for me!!! Time to start drinking
devils1983 12-09-2005, 09:32 PM They have leaders in Mogilny, Madden, Rafalski, Pando and Brylin etc. This team is built on leadership. Too bad nobody is stepping up.
LOL, the closest to a leader might be Madden.....that being said, that was my point.....a "true leader" would step up and rally the troops, but it hasn't happened. So, I state again, this team has no leadership in the dressing room.
The Omen* 12-09-2005, 09:33 PM LOL, the closest to a leader might be Madden.....that being said, that was my point.....a "true leader" would step up and rally the troops, but it hasn't happened. So, I state again, this team has no leadership in the dressing room.
Madden is still not a leader. All those year they develop Neids to become the leader but they never expected him to leave. Madden is not leader.
crashlanding 12-09-2005, 09:36 PM This positioning is terrible in the defensive zone.
Maybe we need a coach that can teach defense. I'm doubting this whole Larry "Hall of Fame Defensman" Robinson thing.
The Omen* 12-09-2005, 09:38 PM This positioning is terrible in the defensive zone.
Maybe we need a coach that can teach defense. I'm doubting this whole Larry "Hall of Fame Defensman" Robinson thing.
Larry should stick to making movies with Jason. His act of "I'm not worried" is total BS. If you're not worried, you don't care.
devils1983 12-09-2005, 09:38 PM Madden is still not a leader. All those year they develop Neids to become the leader but they never expected him to leave. Madden is not leader.
So that leaves no one in the dressing room. I don't consider Pando, Brylin, Rafalski or Mogilny leaders.
TaiMaiShu 12-09-2005, 09:38 PM our luck just sucks right now
crashlanding 12-09-2005, 09:39 PM That's it this whole season is just a nightmare.
Pandolfo splitting the D, there's no way any of this is real.
GentlemanOfLeisure 12-09-2005, 09:39 PM Nice goal by Pando.
TaiMaiShu 12-09-2005, 09:41 PM no shots by the aves this period... i smell trouble
The Omen* 12-09-2005, 09:42 PM our luck just sucks right now
Nothing to do with luck it's our players. They just have no life in them. They just don't care. :madfire:
Jared Ramsden 12-09-2005, 09:43 PM This positioning is terrible in the defensive zone.
Maybe we need a coach that can teach defense. I'm doubting this whole Larry "Hall of Fame Defensman" Robinson thing.
That is the biggest downfall right now. That Brunette goal was exactly like the first Iginla goal on Wednesday. You can't let guys walk out in front of the net like that. Take the body for christ sakes!!!!! Way too passive in their own end.
devils1983 12-09-2005, 09:43 PM Rookie mistake by the Avs goalie......it wasn't pretty....we'll take it
Unthinkable 12-09-2005, 09:43 PM Gionta makes it a one goal game. A fluke goal like that one was scored against the Devils when the Bruins played them earlier in the year.
TaiMaiShu 12-09-2005, 09:44 PM Rookie mistake by the Avs goalie......it wasn't pretty....we'll take it
i wouldn call that a rookie mistake
crashlanding 12-09-2005, 09:45 PM our luck just sucks right now
Yeah it's terrible! Hey guys I think this complaining about our luck thing is working.
Synergy27 12-09-2005, 09:45 PM I am a Ranger fan living in New Jersey, so i get to see most of the Devil games. I am in no way trolling here (I hate but respect your team like no other), but Chico Resch is the worst color man I've ever heard. He is blaming the Devils sub-par play on bad bounces and bad "luck" in general. Am I being a biased anti-Devil guy or what?
devils1983 12-09-2005, 09:46 PM i wouldn call that a rookie mistake
So what would you call it?
Unthinkable 12-09-2005, 09:47 PM Brylin takes a high stick from Laaksonen. 4 minute PP begins.

Yeah, he's the biggest homer in sports coverage. I still like him though because at least he doesn't talk crap about the other teams, he just skews his comments heavily in the Devils favor. I can see how a nondevil fan could hate him though (like I hate the Lightning guys).
devils1983 12-09-2005, 09:48 PM Did Chico just say "a four man advantage"?
GentlemanOfLeisure 12-09-2005, 09:48 PM Im sorry. Paul Martin is overrated.
TaiMaiShu 12-09-2005, 09:50 PM So what would you call it?
i'm not sure... bad luck? i mean a lot of goalies probably would of tried to stop the puck there also.
devils1983 12-09-2005, 09:50 PM Correct me if I'm wrong, but it is the Devils that have this 4 min power play, right?
TaiMaiShu 12-09-2005, 09:51 PM Im sorry. Paul Martin is overrated.
just give him time
devils1983 12-09-2005, 09:52 PM Nice stop by the Avs goaltender.
imayagainknowanton 12-09-2005, 09:52 PM i'm not sure... bad luck? i mean a lot of goalies probably would of tried to stop the puck there also.Exactly . It's not a rookie mistake because it is in no way the goalie's fault that there was a problem with the boards that caused the puck to bounce in front of the net.
crashlanding 12-09-2005, 09:52 PM Did I just see Madden, Langenbrunner, and Marshall on the PP? I don't care how long it is, but the only way those three get on the ice at the same time is if the other 12 forwards are on stretchers.
The stonehands line.
Unthinkable 12-09-2005, 09:54 PM Desperate times call for desperate measures.
TaiMaiShu 12-09-2005, 09:55 PM dive??? ill take it
crashlanding 12-09-2005, 09:57 PM I'm not saying that that was a complete dive, but I'm glad to see the dive called by itself. If the dives aren't called by themselves there really is no penalty for it.
Devilsfanatic 12-09-2005, 10:03 PM dive??? ill take it
May dove earlier to get that first PP. Malakhov just nudged him and May went into Marty like he had been pummelled in the back. It was ridiculous.
GentlemanOfLeisure 12-09-2005, 10:05 PM Madden, langenbrunner, marshall..
the Roberto Duran line..
Unthinkable 12-09-2005, 10:11 PM Wish Larry would give Rasmussen more ice time. Ditto for Pihlman and Parise.
crashlanding 12-09-2005, 10:13 PM Wish Larry would give Rasmussen more ice time. Ditto for Pihlman and Parise.
I agree, even though Pihlman has got some costly penalties lately.
Unthinkable 12-09-2005, 10:20 PM Tough to see what Pihlman can do at this level when he gets so few shifts. Rasmussen can play a solid physical game which would be an asset in a close game like this and would compliment some of the hitting from Madden and White. Zach Parise has been playing better lately. He deserves more ice time tonight imo.

I believe if you go back on this thread, you will find several posts complaining about Chico. However, he isn't the worse, J.D. is. If something doesn't go the Rangers way, he takes it personally. You can hear it in his voice. It's as someone just insulted his wife or worse. Example, last night with Hartnell getting pissed because of a hit by Kasper. And J.D. going on and on stating "It's A clean hit, Hartnell has to be able to take a hit, it's A clean hit." I just wanted to scream J.D., shut the **** up.
Brooklyndevil 12-09-2005, 10:24 PM Madden, langenbrunner, marshall..

I like that...that's their new name!

I always find that JD is one of the color guys that actually calls out his team on occasion. Obviously every color guy is going to be a homer, but JD openly complains about the Rangers play from time to time. I guess after the last decade though he didn't have much else to talk about.
Unthinkable 12-09-2005, 10:28 PM Gionta was so close to tying it up.
crashlanding 12-09-2005, 10:29 PM Gionta was so close to tying it up.
Now Bill Murray will have to tie up that cut.
I'm sorry, couldn't resist.

I won't deny that. But he also gets emotional about situations that goes against the Rangers and it's unprofessional!
Unthinkable 12-09-2005, 10:35 PM Never say die. Gomez does it.
TaiMaiShu 12-09-2005, 10:35 PM PEEERRFEECT tip
devils1983 12-09-2005, 10:36 PM Well I'm impressed....well done....way to battle back, boys. Keep up the momentum.
Devilsfanatic 12-09-2005, 10:37 PM Im still not impressed.
Brooklyndevil 12-09-2005, 10:41 PM Finally, nice to see the Devs knock a goalie on his butt!
devils1983 12-09-2005, 10:44 PM Im still not impressed.
....to battle back against one of the highest scoring teams in the league, damn rights that's impressive. This Avs team should be up 5 goals with the offensive talent they have. The 2nd and 3rd periods have been the Devils so far. It's too bad they couldn't have played for the entire 60 mins. I wonder if Larry threw a garbage can across the dressing room again, LOL (a la 2000 playoffs against Philly).
Main Devil 12-09-2005, 10:46 PM I didn't think the could come back I think it's great to see the Devils play with this much effort and drive. Devils will win with the work effort.
WoW this is great to see.
White is playing great.
crashlanding 12-09-2005, 10:46 PM All these shots on the rush off the glass are worrying me.
Get them on net so the Avs can't counter with a rush of their own.
crashlanding 12-09-2005, 10:54 PM Two solid periods and a point. I'm very pleased.
Unthinkable 12-09-2005, 10:55 PM Avs 1-3
Devs 3-2
TaiMaiShu 12-09-2005, 10:59 PM i love 4-on-4 hockey
Unthinkable 12-09-2005, 11:02 PM Devils look good playing 4 on 4. Colorado blew a 3 goal lead in this one. Usually this team is chastised to no end for doing the same thing when a 2 goal lead is blown. Good to see Brylin back after the high stick to the face he took earlier which bloodied him. A win in the shootout and the Devils have the same exact record as the Islanders. More importantly, it could be the pivotal game in the season that this team looks back to in 2-3 months time as the one that really changed things after Robinson called them out for their lack of leadership.
GentlemanOfLeisure 12-09-2005, 11:02 PM this shootout isnt a good thing for nj.
sakic throughout the years has OWNED Brodeur.
so has Hedjuk and Tanguay.
crashlanding 12-09-2005, 11:02 PM i hate shootouts
crashlanding 12-09-2005, 11:03 PM Gomez?
This games over.
TaiMaiShu 12-09-2005, 11:08 PM this truly demonstrates goalies skills. brodeur is great. its all been bad bounces for marty this year
crashlanding 12-09-2005, 11:09 PM Parise Let The Kid Shoot
Unthinkable 12-09-2005, 11:09 PM Laaksonen scores.
Unthinkable 12-09-2005, 11:10 PM Langenbrunner denied right afterwards. Avs win the shootout after some great saves by both goalies.
A_Mack17 12-09-2005, 11:10 PM uh oh laaksonen scored
devildan 12-09-2005, 11:11 PM Now that was just damn entertaining. Sucks that we lost, but jeez. :handclap:
John Flyers Fan 12-09-2005, 11:11 PM Laaksonen scores.
That's as good a goal as you'll see. Broduer had no chance.

I was thinking the same damn thing, I'm sure he got alot of practice in Albany last year with shootouts, why in the hell not??
TaiMaiShu 12-09-2005, 11:13 PM That's as good a goal as you'll see. Broduer had no chance.
yea perfect move i wish we had some more scoring depth... why not give parise a shot???
crashlanding 12-09-2005, 11:14 PM yea perfect move i wish we had some more scoring depth... why not give parise a shot???
Probably because Langenbrunner has been burning up the nets all season...
Seriously, letting Langenbrunner shoot before Parise is just foolish.
devils1983 12-09-2005, 11:14 PM Now that was just damn entertaining. Sucks that we lost, but jeez. :handclap:
That's why I hate the shoot out. After 65mins of playing, it comes down to an individual effort, not a team effort. Instead of ties in the NFL, after a 15 min quarter, have QB's throw a football through a tire.....or instead of extra innings in baseball, make it only 4 extra innings then a home run competition....better yet, in basketball after a 15 min quarter, make it a free throw competition.
Sorry, just had to vent, I'm not a fan of the shoot out.
Brooklyndevil 12-09-2005, 11:15 PM This is the Devils season in a nutshell, after their best comeback of the season, they still lose. And please, none of the pivotal game nonsense. I'm trying to get used to the idea that this team isn't very good, but it's difficult. It's like trying to quit smoking.

Amen to that!
bottleCAPS 12-09-2005, 11:18 PM The boys deserve credit tonight. They fought back from a 3 goal deficiet and got a point out of it. PK looked horendous that first period.. Questionning why Langenbrunner took the shot over Parise but Kolesnik was pretty good in that shootout (as was Brodeur)
Brooklyndevil 12-09-2005, 11:21 PM Probably because Langenbrunner has been burning up the nets all season...
Seriously, letting Langenbrunner shoot before Parise is just foolish.
Either Larry has no confidence in the kid what so ever, or maybe he's afraid of putting pressure on kid. I don't understand, but they should just send him down and get him some playing time, because he's not getting here.
bottleCAPS 12-09-2005, 11:24 PM Lamerello could be shaking up the roster soon, maybe it'll end up with Parise getting a more pivitol role on the team.
Devilsfanatic 12-09-2005, 11:25 PM I was thinking the same damn thing, I'm sure he got alot of practice in Albany last year with shootouts, why in the hell not??
Totally! I wanted him to, better than Gomez......anyways, great game. I was impressed, I just chose to say I wasn't :p:

NJ lost to Detroit and Calgary, two top teams currently leading their divisions and it was like a funeral parlor atmosphere in here after both those games. Nevermind that Detroit has won 20 of its 30 games thus far and Calgary has 9 regulation losses in 30. Lets not completely lose sight of the impressive stretch the team had right before this. Martin Brodeur looks at the standings pretty closely every morning. The point was made earlier that a win tonight would have put them 3 wins behind Philadelphia and closer to that 8th playoff seed in the standings with a lot of hockey to be played over the next 4+ months. Focus on the positives.
Main Devil 12-09-2005, 11:29 PM Did you expect them to come back to a tie after being down by 3, be honest? I didn't. I liked the this game. They played 60 minutes.

You know, it was a heck of a comeback, but really, how many more times do you think this team can come back from a 3 to 0 deficit, not many I would think. And the point being after the loses to Detroit and Calgary, they were down 3 zip before you can blink an eyelash. They need a shake-up. That's my opinion. Hey, I hope they win the next ten games and make me eat crow!
