Seems that Sykora is certainly on his way out of ananheim. I really don't see the were the devils can use another small winger.

but what if it were a huge blockbuster 6 man type deal; I doubt the devs will throw their hat into the ring for sykora... but I would give up mogilny in a heartbeat.

how about mogilny and malakov for sykora; it gets rid of a little salary and we add sykora who is better than mogilny at this stage and elias worships him; also we get rid of malakov which is addition by subtraction

Almo-Malakhov for Sykora????

You do understand that the Ducks are DUMPING salary right?

You couldn't pay somebody to take those 2 contracts on, let alone expect anything of value in return.

Exactly. Why would anybody want Malakhov and Almo to begin with? The only way those two are getting traded is at the Trade Deadline when the Devils are out of contention. They are rental players at the end of their careers.

a team that just signed neidermayer for 6 million a year is interested in making the playoffs

they need offense and the devs can offer up 2 offensive players; you are probably right but I don't think teams are in the salary dump mode just yet.

Just a thought.

the question is would you do the deal??

Malakhov, at his salary, will be going nowhere.

You're probably right, but in March his salary only counts about $700,000 toward a team's cap. He definitely could go then . . . not that it helps the Devils.

I disagree. He will be going either to Albany or back to Russia. :)

Sammy has way more value then Sykora does so I don't see that happening.

Looks like the B's, Habs, NYR's are the most interested.

Maybe Malakhov for Sykora :sarcasm: anyways, he's not coming back here, no matter how much a former HFboard star wants him to.

While it seems impossible given our current salary situation, I would do quite a bit to try to get Sykora here. Send down Malakhov, McGillis, even trade Mogilny, who's been very good for us.

Sykora's value is a little low right now, but we've seen what he's capable of.

Imagine

Elias-Gomez-Gionta
Kozlov-Parise-Sykora
Pandolfo-Madden-Mogilny

How do you trade Mogilny AND have him on the third line? ;)

It's easy when you're a super-genius GM like Lou. It'd be the greatest three-way trade of all time, too. ;)

according to the ducks fans sykora has been worthless for them at 3+million a season............ so maybe it is not far fetched that we can dump some of our dead weight on them.

Like i said mogilny and a defensman maybe mcgillis for sykora we lose a little salary they don't go way overboard and they get a defensman as well.

although I don't see sykora as any help to the devils alone we need help in other areas as well..

Your not getting it, you would have to PAY somebody to take Almo or Malakhov off your hands!!!

The ducks are dumping salary, NOT adding it with deadweight!

Mogilny > Sykora.
