His play tonight disturbed me, this kid plays with a bad attitude some nights, his defensive play has been aweful.

This team was hot when Gomez was on, and is cold when he's off. What a night tonight :(

too many off nights so early in the season.

this team is very inconsistant........ I don't agree with playing your top three forwards all on one line and to boot putting mogilny on the checking line???

I would like to see the following lines:

mogilny gomez marshall
kozlov brylin gionta
langenbrunn madden pando
philman parise whom ever

defense

white martin
raffy matvichuk
mcgillis brown

I agree with those lines 100%
Mogilny is completely wasted on the checking line. While I understand why they put him there (the checking line has absolutely no offensive upside and they are on the ice a lot), he is still the only one out there that can score. The other teams can just focus on him.
What happened to the Madden from his rookie year? He used to be a bullet, now he looks like Holik out there or something, a statue.
Langenbrunner has never been the same since he got injured in 03, he is no longer a threat...ever. This whole team has the feeling of being three years too old.

good points.

I always thought of this team at least the past few years as a relatively quick team.

but guys like brylin, pando, madden, langs all seem to have lost a step, in a ddition to losing elias and freisen our speed up front is not what it has been.

Effort is missing on this team, it just is not there every night

time to name a captain; someone who will pick the team up when they are playing shiitty; even a fight or something would have been good, no effort , no balls, nothing from this team, i am not optimistic at all.

Overreacting because of a loss yet again. Tonight wasn't the offense that was the problem it was the defense. Rafalski was awful, just plain terrible giving up the puck countless times and completely failing to quarterback the powerplay. The rest of the crew was average, but Colin White did not make an impact on the game. It seemed like none of our D could catch up with the wings players due to their shiftiness and constant movement. Don't try to fixate your thoughts on the offense of this team. Good offense comes from good defense and our defense never gave us a chance.

I think he had a good reason tonight. He knew B.J young and I believe his funeral was tonight.

This team simply doesn't have the talent to compete with the elite teams in the NHL. Gionta's offensive output is impressive, but he simply can't dominate a game in the way that Elias can, but that's stating the obvious. What's more concerning is the structure of our defense. Without Niedermayer, we don't have a single defenseman who excels in all aspects of the game. Our stay-at-homes are too slow and Rafalski and Martin have proven incapable of picking up the offensive slack (1 goal between the two of them?) We certainly have enough organizational depth to plug some of our defensive holes, but burdensome pre-lockout contracts (*cough* MALAKHOV *cough*) are going to hamper our ability to make meaningful deals this season.

Even when Elias comes back, I doubt this team as it stands has the defensive depth to go past the first round of the playoffs. Our defense is simply too slow and too offensively inept to compete in the new NHL. I'm willing to reserve judgement on Madden and Langenbrunner until Elias comes back, and our prospect pool at forward is very promising. Until we can clear some cap space, we won't be able to add a difference maker on defense. Lou's always been able to make innovative and surprising deals, though - I will be glad to eat my words when/if Lou shakes things up.

The problem is we are hot against ****tie teams. We can't beat any legit team oh wait except Montreal. We suck and this team right now will not make the playoff without a major overhaul.

Both the play of Gomez and Rafalski was outright sickening!

His defensive play has been awful.

You overrate his defensive play.

All joke aside, there is a problem. You first line center can't be a 60/70 points player, especially when he's as uni-dimensional as Scott Gomez. If we were talking about an all-around guy, I wouldn't worry, but that's not the case here.
