CrossCheck 12-04-2005, 09:45 PM I tought this guy should be up by this time of the year and still no words...
Is he still rightup there in the depth chart or has he fallen to others?
Any comment on his play in Albany?
:dunno:
DownFromNJ 12-04-2005, 09:51 PM When I saw him he looked absolutely ready for the NHL. He's just being blocked by a bunch of high salaried players.
Main Devil 12-04-2005, 10:53 PM He's in Albany where he belongs until Lou attacks the $39 M salary cap moves some players.
let it go.

Can't say I agree he belongs there since he outplayed all the stiffs on the Devils in camp.

Cue the omen and machoking for some more negativity to counter valid points.

Sorry.
How can I forget the trio of doom?

Sounds about right to me. I'm sure he knows he's ready, and I'm sure the organization knows he's ready. Once all the salary stuff is cleaned up, I'm sure we will see him up very soon......

ohh the agony of anticipation
Tao Jones 12-05-2005, 08:12 PM Sux for Hale that his NHL return is dependent upon Elias' recovery. All for a reason I suppose. :o
Blackjack 12-06-2005, 03:40 AM Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Hale played last year and the Ms (Malakhov, McGillis, and Matvichuk) didn't. It wasn't much of a surprise that Hale outplayed them in camp, he should outplay them, but they had to be given a chance to get back on their games.
Plus, as much as those guys are trashed around here, when we get to the playoffs, their experience is going to be important. Does anyone else remember Tommy Albelin in the 2003 playoffs? We had Tverdovsky, Smehlik, Daneyko, and Albelin, fighting for the third pairing, and Albelin turned out to be the best one.
Hale will get in there.

Hale was never really given a chance in the playoffs. I think he only played 1 game. Which I thought was a major mistake especially the way Philly was able to use their size as an advantage and keep the puck down low for long periods of time.

Which I thought was a major mistake especially the way Philly was able to use their size as an advantage and keep the puck down low for long periods of time.I think Hale was injured (shoulder?). He came back and played a few matches before the playoffs and a match in the series with Philly, but he wasn't 100%. If he would have been healthy, he definitely would have played.
2forsbergaura1 12-06-2005, 12:53 PM the Devils need to at least give Hale a real shot this season. The guys he outplayed all have 1 thing in common, LACK OF SPEED:
MATVICHUK
MALAKHOV
MCGILLIS
They are all too SLOW at this point in their careers, due to their age and to never really being fast. Hale on the other hand is physical yet skates VERY well for a big guy. He is exactly the kind of dman the Devils are missing right now!
Trade, drop, or sit Malakhov or Matvichuk or Mcgillis...I'd get rid of Malakhov first cause he is the worst of them all! :handclap:
Drewr15 12-06-2005, 01:23 PM I think Hale will definitely be part of the solution when they move people to fit in Elias. At this point I think the Devs would like to keep Kozlov and move a dman and somebody else and bring Hale up. He did outplay alot of guys in camp, and while the point of he was playing while others haven't is valid, the fact is if it wasn't for cap reasons he probably would have played over a couple of guys out of camp. I look forward to seeing him up here full time as he think he will be a solid dman.
Unthinkable 12-06-2005, 07:08 PM I think Hale was injured (shoulder?). He came back and played a few matches before the playoffs and a match in the series with Philly, but he wasn't 100%. If he would have been healthy, he definitely would have played.
But even if he'd been a hundred percent and played more games in the playoffs, we were all still waiting to see the physical side of his game at that point, so I'm not convinced he could have done much to have turned the tide against Philly.

He played very physical in the game he did play, I remember his first or second shift drilling brashear twice behind the net.
CrossCheck 12-06-2005, 07:18 PM Who do you guys compare him to (playing in the NHL...)?
Adam Foote?
Matt Norstrom?
Scott Hannan?
Jason Smith?
Robin Regher?
others?
:dunno:
sundstrom32* 12-06-2005, 10:06 PM all three of svck, hale is better than all three of them, and albelin is just as good when considering his salary.
I would rather have mcgillis than matvichuk and malakov,
it seems ridiculous that we have a 2 million dollar a year defensman sitting out half the games... this is poor
just let the stiffs go and bring up hale

i just hope he will be in that same class of players
2forsbergaura1 12-07-2005, 11:14 AM I think he will be very much like Norstrom actually. Hale has the same good speed and mobility, he can move the puck OK, and he will become more and more physical over time!
He could really getting annoying too I think ,just like Norstrom...since you can't really get away from Hale's size or mobility... :handclap:
