The stats speak for themselves. Frank Doyle has played 6 more games than Ari (whose played 8), but has allowed the same amount goals (35) as of last nights game vs Portland. His save percentage (.924) and goals against average (2.49) are also far superior to Ahonen's (.877% / 4.42 GGA)
What does this indicate? Is our former #2 prospect really a bust? Is he actually getting worse? Is Frank Doyle the future backbone of Devils Defense? Your thoughts...

Have to figure his (lack of) future with the organization is weighing on Ahonen pretty heavily at this point. I was surprised he came back to Albany following all the speculation that he planned to play overseas after the lockout was lifted. Ahonen's prospect ranking is and has been a bit overrated/overstated over the last few years imo. I can easily see him being moved to a team that still has questions in goal where he'll finally get a chance to break in and show what he can or can't do.

this is exactly what i was thinking after the rats win yesterday!
Does Doyle have much/any NHL potential?

Ahonen played quite well in tonights loss to the Senators. Hopefully he'll gain some momentum after his impressive performance and prove himself worthy of being in NHLer.

It would seem based on his performance so far this year and the last few years in Idaho and Maine that Doyle indeed does have potential. Another 32 save performance tonight and the Rats win 6-2.

They gotta play in the NHL to determine who's quality.
