Any ideas on what the Czech roster could look like?
They are Canada's #1 threat, so IMO, they deserve their own thread.

Czech Republic Roster?big_steve 11-26-2005, 01:21 PM Any ideas on what the Czech roster could look like? They are Canada's #1 threat, so IMO, they deserve their own thread. LannysStach 11-26-2005, 02:38 PM boy do they ever! i'm dying to see their line-up, maybe some Czech guy will czech in. :sarcasm: they are some of my favorite players in the league, the most exciting, and the best. they may be more than a "threat"! i'm just really looking forward to watching them play! espo 11-26-2005, 02:48 PM new rules, can't trap like they are used to.They may have to adapt quick, they are skillful enough to do so but will they? I'm betting they can but they don't want to get caught in a game flat-footed and get down a couple of goals. therealdeal 11-26-2005, 04:59 PM We need a Czech guy to take care of this one, all I know is the obvious ones, my guess would be the bolded guys: Goaltenders Roman Cechmanek (Karlovy Vary - Czech) Dominik Hasek (Ottawa - NHL) Milan Hnilicka (Liberec - Czech) Martin Prusek (Columbus - NHL) Marek Schwarz (Sparta - Czech) Roman Turek (Ceske Budejovice - Czech) Tomas Vokoun (Nashville - NHL) Dunno who for the 3rd DEFENSEMEN Michal Barinka (Norfolk - AHL) Jiri Fischer (Detroit - NHL) Roman Hamrlik (Calgary - NHL) Jan Hejda (Khimik - Russia) Frantisek Kaberle (Carolina - NHL) Tomas Kaberle (Toronto - NHL) Filip Kuba (Minnesota - NHL) Pavel Kubina (Tampa Bay - NHL) Marek Malik (New York Rangers - NHL) Radek Martinek (New York Islanders - NHL) Jaroslav Modry (Atlanta - NHL) Karel Pilar (Toronto - NHL) Martin Skoula (Dallas - NHL) Jiri Slegr (Boston - NHL) Ladislav Smid (Portland - AHL) Jaroslav Spacek (Chicago - NHL) Marek Zidlicky (Nashville - NHL) Dunno who would be No. 7 FORWARDS Jan Bulis (Montreal - NHL) Petr Cajanek (St. Louis - NHL) Radek Dvorak (Edmonton - NHL) Patrik Elias (New Jersey - NHL) Martin Erat (Nashville - NHL) Martin Havlat (Ottawa - NHL) Milan Hejduk (Colorado - NHL) Ales Hemsky (Edmonton - NHL) Jan Hlavac (Geneva - SWI) Jiri Hudler (Grand Rapids - AHL) Jaromir Jagr (New York Rangers - NHL) Jakub Klepis (Hershey - AHL) Ales Kotalik (Buffalo - NHL) Robert Lang (Detroit - NHL) Vaclav Nedorost (Ceske Budejovice - Czech) Rostislav Olesz (Florida - NHL) Vaclav Prospal (Tampa Bay - NHL) Petr Prucha (New York Rangers - NHL) Robert Reichel (Litvinov - Czech) Martin Rucinsky (New York Rangers - NHL) Martin Straka (New York Rangers - NHL) Petr Sykora (Anaheim - NHL) Vaclav Varada (Ottawa - NHL) Josef Vasicek (Carolina - NHL) Petr Vrana (Albany - AHL) Radim Vrbata (Carolina - NHL) David Vyborny (Columbus - NHL) That'd be my guess. 12# Peter Bondra 11-26-2005, 05:16 PM My guess: Hasek Vokoun Open spot but Ill say Hnilicka Fischer Zidlicky Kubina Tomas Kaberle Malik Spacek Kuba Jagr Straka Rucinsky Hejduk Prospal Lang Hemsky Elias Dvorak Bulis Varada Havlat Sykora MXD 11-26-2005, 05:56 PM We need a Czech guy to take care of this one, all I know is the obvious ones, my guess would be the bolded guys: Goaltenders Roman Cechmanek (Karlovy Vary - Czech) Dominik Hasek (Ottawa - NHL) Milan Hnilicka (Liberec - Czech) Martin Prusek (Columbus - NHL) Marek Schwarz (Sparta - Czech) Roman Turek (Ceske Budejovice - Czech) Tomas Vokoun (Nashville - NHL) Dunno who for the 3rd DEFENSEMEN Michal Barinka (Norfolk - AHL) Jiri Fischer (Detroit - NHL) Roman Hamrlik (Calgary - NHL) Jan Hejda (Khimik - Russia) Frantisek Kaberle (Carolina - NHL) Tomas Kaberle (Toronto - NHL) Filip Kuba (Minnesota - NHL) Pavel Kubina (Tampa Bay - NHL) Marek Malik (New York Rangers - NHL) Radek Martinek (New York Islanders - NHL) Jaroslav Modry (Atlanta - NHL) Karel Pilar (Toronto - NHL) Martin Skoula (Dallas - NHL) Jiri Slegr (Boston - NHL) Ladislav Smid (Portland - AHL) Jaroslav Spacek (Chicago - NHL) Marek Zidlicky (Nashville - NHL) Dunno who would be No. 7 FORWARDS Jan Bulis (Montreal - NHL) Petr Cajanek (St. Louis - NHL) Radek Dvorak (Edmonton - NHL) Patrik Elias (New Jersey - NHL) Martin Erat (Nashville - NHL) Martin Havlat (Ottawa - NHL) Milan Hejduk (Colorado - NHL) Ales Hemsky (Edmonton - NHL) Jan Hlavac (Geneva - SWI) Jiri Hudler (Grand Rapids - AHL) Jaromir Jagr (New York Rangers - NHL) Jakub Klepis (Hershey - AHL) Ales Kotalik (Buffalo - NHL) Robert Lang (Detroit - NHL) Vaclav Nedorost (Ceske Budejovice - Czech) Rostislav Olesz (Florida - NHL) Vaclav Prospal (Tampa Bay - NHL) Petr Prucha (New York Rangers - NHL) Robert Reichel (Litvinov - Czech) Martin Rucinsky (New York Rangers - NHL) Martin Straka (New York Rangers - NHL) Petr Sykora (Anaheim - NHL) Vaclav Varada (Ottawa - NHL) Josef Vasicek (Carolina - NHL) Petr Vrana (Albany - AHL) Radim Vrbata (Carolina - NHL) David Vyborny (Columbus - NHL) That'd be my guess. Canada is the defending Olympic Champions, are World Cup Champions and have the best team on paper so I can't see how it's the other way around. big_steve 11-26-2005, 07:40 PM IMO it's the other way around. That's just your opinion. Consensus says otherwise. Anyway, that's the first and last thing I'll say on that topic. koko27 11-27-2005, 05:40 PM Plekanec will be the #1 center :teach: ILuvLA 12-02-2005, 01:50 AM My guess: Hasek Vokoun Open spot but Ill say Hnilicka Fischer Zidlicky Kubina Tomas Kaberle Malik Spacek Kuba Jagr Straka Rucinsky Hejduk Prospal Lang Hemsky Elias Dvorak Bulis Varada Havlat Sykora Given his recent health issues, Fischer probably a no? 12# Peter Bondra 12-02-2005, 02:14 PM Yeah. I didnt even include on the list due to that but if he was healthy, hed be a sure player for the Olympics. Corto 12-03-2005, 06:31 AM Goaltenders Roman Cechmanek (Karlovy Vary - Czech) Dominik Hasek (Ottawa - NHL) Tomas Vokoun (Nashville - NHL) DEFENSEMEN Roman Hamrlik (Calgary - NHL) Tomas Kaberle (Toronto - NHL) Pavel Kubina (Tampa Bay - NHL) Marek Malik (New York Rangers - NHL) Jiri Slegr (Boston - NHL) Jaroslav Spacek (Chicago - NHL) Marek Zidlicky (Nashville - NHL) FORWARDS Petr Cajanek (St. Louis - NHL) Patrik Elias (New Jersey - NHL) Martin Havlat (Ottawa - NHL) Milan Hejduk (Colorado - NHL) Jaromir Jagr (New York Rangers - NHL) Robert Lang (Detroit - NHL) Vaclav Prospal (Tampa Bay - NHL) Petr Prucha (New York Rangers - NHL) Martin Rucinsky (New York Rangers - NHL) Martin Straka (New York Rangers - NHL) Petr Sykora (Anaheim - NHL) Vaclav Varada (Ottawa - NHL) David Vyborny (Columbus - NHL) * Vasicek or Bulis in case Elias doesn't get back by then Also, Reichel may well be on the team, their only "problem" is at centre (but you can hardly call Lang and Cajanek a problem... Straka will probably centre Jagr's line, possibly with Prucha on it). Kotalik, as much as I love the guy, won't be on the team. His slapper is great to have on the PP, but they have Hamr and Kubina to shoot it. Zidlicky and Kaberle are no slouches either. endacka 12-05-2005, 10:50 AM Goalies: Our main strength  . 1,2. Hasek, Vokoun - they habe been both great this season so far. If they can keep it up, it will be tough decision but I honestly cannot see a way healthy Hasek would not be a starter - he is a legend and scares opposing forwards just by beying in the net. 3. Normally, I would say it doesnt matter who is the third goalie, but Hasek is old and thus injury prone, so in my opinion it will be Hnilicka who goes. Would love to see Mensator though (is not on that list) Defense: Our main weakness (if we have any) ;) . 1. Tomas Kaberle - Roman Hamrlik Our best D-men, I am not sure if they will play together though. If not, Zids plays with Hammer. 2. Pavel Kubina - Jaroslav Spacek Well, these two have been playing together on the int. level since a long time and as Kubina is a lock, I think Spacek goes. 3 . Marek Zidlicky - Kuba, Slegr, Kaberle F., Modry. Fischer will be a lock on this pairing, if he is healthy. Zids is a lock. Offense: 1. Havlat - Straka - Jagr 2. Elias - Lang - Hejduk 3. Rucinsky - Prospal - Dvorak 4. Cajanek - Vyborny - Hemsky If healthy, the first 6 plus Prospal are locks. Sykora, Kotalik, Prucha, Varada, Bulis still have a decnt shot making that team, although Vyborny and Cajanek will most probably go. The Mars Volchenkov 12-05-2005, 06:30 PM Havlat's shoulder injury may keep him out. The fact that we still don't know how long he'll be out yet makes me think it could be 4 months. They are Canada's #1 threat, so IMO, they deserve their own thread. valid point sir, yeah the czechs will ride the backs and will only go as far as you know who goes, the former Penguin mr Jagr leads the nhl in shots I think and should be lethal if Hasek plays like he does in international play, then hasek's a lockdown tender still hes proved that. I've been tryin to project a few teams rosters using nhl view, this game editor for nhl 05. I hope Hemmer makes the czech roster, if he lights it up down the stretch and into january man, not sure about Dvorak though maybe, most likely. Heres my roster I got... Jagr / Prospal / Hejduk Elias / Nedved / Rucinsky Hemsky / Straka / Dvorak Havlat / Vyborny / Sykora Their top 6 D- Malik, spacek, zidlicky, kablre, hamrlik, skoula, Fischer if he can play by then with Hasek and Vokoun between the pipes. endacka 12-09-2005, 08:04 AM valid point sir, yeah the czechs will ride the backs and will only go as far as you know who goes, the former Penguin mr Jagr leads the nhl in shots I think and should be lethal if Hasek plays like he does in international play, then hasek's a lockdown tender still hes proved that. Hasek at his best is the best goalie in the World, even if Brodeur or Luongo were at their best IMO, and they are not even at their best now, plus Vokoun is also great and improving yearly. Jagr when he is motivated and hungry is probably the best forward in the World, along with a healthy Forsberg. Their D is incredable. Their other top forwards like Prospal, Havlat(when healthy), and Hejduk, are really in form this year. I have a hard time picking the whole team, I will have to think it over a bit. katodelder 12-09-2005, 12:12 PM The young Prucha has is developping some nice chemistry with Jagr in Manhattan. The Czechs should give him a look. therealdeal 12-09-2005, 12:46 PM Havlat being out will hurt the Czech team quite a bit in my opinion, he is highly talented, and can be a game breaker in any game, especially against Canada in the past. ILuvLA 12-10-2005, 12:12 AM Even with Havlat & Fischer out, the Czechs should be at the top - even perhaps the team to beat. Nich 12-11-2005, 12:06 AM i think prucha will get a spot Gardolo 12-12-2005, 01:25 PM Endacka, can you remind me what is the next data, when coaches should name their preliminary rosters? NewHabsEra 12-13-2005, 05:24 AM Plekanec has to be considered way before Bulis, he has been one of our best fowards so far this season... He is definitively a major upgrade over Ribeiro to center our second line.. I dont think he will make the team this year but should in the next few years.. ajsonor 12-13-2005, 02:53 PM Ales Kotalik will get serious consideration for this team. He has one of the best shots in the league. Rabid Ranger 12-13-2005, 03:01 PM Canada is the defending Olympic Champions, are World Cup Champions and have the best team on paper so I can't see how it's the other way around. True, but the Czechs won the last World Championships and boast a roster that top-to-bottom is almost as impressive "on paper" as Canada's. They should be considered one of the favorites. 12# Peter Bondra 12-13-2005, 03:11 PM They will be missing Fischer though, who was an important piece. espo 12-13-2005, 06:21 PM Is there any news Elias will be done with this hep A stuff in time to play? I have'nt heard of him back playing yet. Gardolo 12-17-2005, 06:31 PM Well, i write just not to lose this topic:) soon it will be announces a final roster... FLYLine24 12-21-2005, 06:01 PM Didn't Prucha beat out Havlat for the last spot in the last WC's? Prucha has only gotten better since then I dont see why he would be left off. Havlat was playing like crap last year and I don't think he got along with the coaches so he didn't make the team. He was great in the Olympics in '02 though at only the age of 20.
