serum114 11-23-2005, 07:13 PM Hey all,
Oilers fan here, and I think they are one of a few likely destinations for your "beloved" Petr Sykora. I noticed he was placed on the IR with the nebulous "groin injury." Is this a legit problem, did he actually tweak something, or could more be read into it--is Burke simply insuring he doesn't get hurt while finer points of a deal are worked out?
Any feedback would be great, I don't really follow the Ducks that closely.
Thanks,
serum114
McDonald19 11-23-2005, 07:25 PM Supposedly he pulled his groin in practice.
Jerky Leclerc 11-23-2005, 07:31 PM Cmon, when have the Ducks ever traded a player coming off the IR recovering from a groin injury?

lol, hmm let me see
Mark Everson reports either Alexander Mogilny or Vladimir Malakhav are the most likely to be dealt by New Jersey Devils GM Lou Lamoriello to make room on the payroll for forward Patrik Elias's return, likely next month. Lamoriello must dump $3.3 million, making Mogilny ($3.5 million) or Malakhov ($3.6 million) the most likely candidates. Everson notes a dwindling list of teams with available cap space to take on their salaries, considering "San Jose, Pittsburgh, Washington, Florida, Calgary, Edmonton and Dallas" as possibilities. Everson also feels Lamoriello wouldn't get much back in return. Another possibility could be placing one of them on waivers.
Looks like we dont get Elias ..But what about Mogilny, Malakhov ?
infected13 11-26-2005, 07:03 AM Sykora makes just about as much as they do. its not much of a trade, but if they get waived then thats something to look into picking up MAYBE.

Is this a trick question? :)
- The Anaheim Mighty Ducks will be moving forward Petr Sykora once he returns from injury. The NY Rangers, Phoenix Coyotes and New Jersey Devils are believed interested in him, especially the Rangers, who might try to ship former Duck forward Steve Rucchin back to Anaheim.
I think it will be Phoenix .. but what we get back :dunno: Gauthier :sarcasm:

I hope we get a defensemen like Derrick Morris.

Anaheim would (or should) get rid of two blue liners before bringing another one in.
Pepper 11-27-2005, 12:27 PM Yotes won't be giving up Morris for Sykora alone.
Sykora + rights to Chistov and pick (2nd heh) for Morris or something like that.
Unless Morris is an UFA next summer as well which makes it totally different.
Spankatola Jamnuts 11-27-2005, 02:02 PM We need scoring first.

I don't see the Coyotes as likely trading partners for us---at least not at this time. While it's unlikely that the Ducks would be dealing with any divisional rival(s), I did notice that Garrioch seems to think that Marco Sturm in on the block. I tend to doubt this, but if he were available what about something along the lines of Sykora and a mid-level prospect for Sturm?
I wouldn't mind seeing the Ducks making a pitch for Ethan Moreau, but I don't think he's on the block right now.
As much as I appreciated his effrots in the past, I have no desire to see Steve Rucchin come back here. He's 34, injury-prone and not a Brian Burke-type player. He would only be a band-aid solution.
IMHO, Sykora, Salei and Ozolinsh are all "living on borrowed time". The only question whether we can get something of value in return. (Salei definitely has value, but it is diminished by the fact that he'll be a UFA this summer.)
McDonald19 11-27-2005, 05:47 PM I don't see a Sykora for Rucchin trade accomplishing much. Rucchin is on the downside of his career after taking a year off from hockey during the lockout. I'd rather we got a decent prospect/pick from New York for Sykora.
