Only have 12 forwards up now. So either Marshall goes to forward or a deal is coming.

Also of note. Burke trades Popovic to get Brennan who he then puts on waivers...

Again things that make you go hmmmmm

Didn't I tell you they're going to move a d-man? I wouldn't be surprised to see Salei and Sykora packaged in a deal. If if they're not packaged, I think they're both finished in Anaheim. Look for a deal with Toronto involving Allison, Antripov and/or Ponikorovski [sp?].

Someone has to be willing to trade something for Sykora. No way Burke just lets him go for free.

The kids need ice time, this also clears cap room for more potential moves.

we might as well get a playmaker to play with Sykora, he can score goals if he has a guy to set him up. I am frustrated with him, but let's take one kick at the can and see what happens.

if Sykora is on waivers I will puke.

I was about to come here and ask what you guys want for Sykora, but if he's going to be on waivers, I think the Sharks might pick him up for free. :) We sure have the cap room.

If he doesn't go on waivers, what would you want? Keep in mind that not many teams will want a slumping winger with such a high salary. I'm aware you might get more for him at the deadline, but I think the point is to make some moves now to avoid being out of the playoffs at the deadline! (that applies for both the Ducks and the Sharks) Thanks!

Maybe I'll wake up and Gomez and Havlat will be Ducks and Salei and Sykora won't be.

Any young forward who can offer something and a draft pick.

Oooh, you KNOW it's gonna take a heck of a lot more than that!

Throw Ozo in there too.

Ekman + 3rd for Sykora?

Ekman has a 1 year 1.1 million dollar contract. Both players could use a change of scenery.

I'd take that. Ekman can't be any worse for us than Sykora has been.

What is the word on Sykora? I see that he was "injured" tonight with a pulled groin - is that actually true or is he just riding the pine until a deal is announced?

How would we know that?

I figured that something would have been mentioned about Sykora during the broadcast and how he injured his groin if it's actually true. Who better to ask than those that just watched the game?

They said he was apparently out with a groin injury. For such an important player for us they made little mention of it. Your guess is as good as ours.

Knowing Burke we will put Sykora on waivers and sign Bob Probert to a deal.

LOL

PS: I like Nils "I am the" Ekman if for nothing else than his Beatles-esque moniker.

Well I guess one of us has to swallow our pride and call up Petr and ask him how the old block and tackle feels

in this new cap world, being put on waivers is not such a bad thing. It isn't sykora the player that is being waived, it is his contract. It appears that Burke could not get an asset for him (propsect or pick) so now he is willing to let his contract go for free.

Time for the oilers to step up.
