He's tearing up the minors averaging well over a PPG, if your going to put Fedoruk on the PP in front of the net why not a guy that's the size of Penner? Send down Perry, let's see what Dustin can do.

Agreed. Perry needs the icetime. Penner has earned a look at the NHL.

NO!!!

jk...He's earned a look. But Portland plays 4 games in 5 nights with the Thanksgiving rush so at least wait and see what he does over the upcoming weekend.

He uses his size well and really knows where to be around the net. I'd like to see him "use" his body more and be a little bit more aggressive in the corners and around the net. Right now he leans and grapples his way into scoring position rather then banging his way in. Subtle difference but when you watch him you'll see what I mean. With bigger stronger D-man at the NHL level I think he might struggle getting into position the same way he does in Portland. Great hands too...

Does he spend a lot of time in front of the net?

More like circling it waiting for a kill.

Not to instantly peg a player who've I seen now less then a dozen times but Penner reminds me very much of Andrew Brunette when he was in Portland. Always grinding out goals around the net...not overly fast but great hands and big body.

Yea I agree. I mean there is no reason to not try it. I say call him up and put him on a line with McDonald and Selanne, see what happens.

Do you think the coaches could get through to him and just say, hold your position in front of the net. I read he had the best verticle leap in camp, so he must have strong legs...
