Anaheim vs. Dallas

7:30 P.M. Pacific Time FSN2

Mighty Duck goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere battled dehydration Sunday night. Now he is dealing with a hamstring pull that figures to keep him out of tonight's game against the Dallas Stars.

Giguere didn't practice for the second consecutive day after experiencing some pain in his hamstring, which he said was not related to the groin injury he had that kept him out of two games last month.

The hamstring problem, however, may be related to the cramps he suffered during Sunday's 3-1 loss to the Stars. He thinks he injured it before asking out of the game in the second period.

...Duck Coach Randy Carlyle said he is using extra precautions to make sure the problem doesn't develop into anything more serious.

"He's a guy where dehydration is a major issue," Carlyle said. "We have to make sure to pay attention to that. We'll see how it goes [this] morning."

If Giguere isn't available, Ilya Bryzgalov will get his sixth start this season.

...Left wing Kip Brennan, who has sat out the last four games with an injured left shoulder, received a cortisone shot and said he hopes to play Sunday against Vancouver.

The Duck enforcer underwent an MRI exam Monday and he said a slight tear in the labrum was detected. Brennan aggravated his troublesome shoulder taking wrist shots in the morning skate before Saturday's game in Phoenix.

"The next day, I couldn't even lift my shoulder," Brennan said.

Go Tyler Wright! :yo: . Losing back to back home games to a division opponent would be embarrassing.....

Ozo was activated from the IR earlier today...any chances he returns to the lineup?

It'll be interesting to see how the boys start the post-Fedorov era tonight against a tough Stars team. I'm also wondering how the play tonight will show what holes we need to fill the most.

50-50 I think. We'll see.

Also the Ducks sent Kunitz to Portland and recalled Mike Wall to back up Bryzgalov tonight.

TSN called him Jeff:http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=143312&hubname=nhl

The Mighty Ducks also recalled 20-year-old goaltender Jeff Wall. The native of Telkwa, B.C., has played in eight games with Portland, going 4-4-0 with a 3.53 goals-against average and .881 save percentage.

I would think they would activate Ozo to get him back in the lineup. I expect him to play tonight.

Moen just crushed Zubov's face into the glass.

Arnott jumped him as well as Morrow.

Everyone came in for the Ducks. Love the team toughness, the Niedermayer brothers jumped into the pile.

If the refs are going to give Moen 5 and a game then Arnott should have gotten more than 2 for roughing. If they are going to make the strict call against us call it the same the other way and give Arnott 2 for instigating 5 for fighting and a 10 minute misconduct and give Morrow 2 for roughing or even third man in game misconduct.

It's too bad Moen is done for the night I love the way he and Wright are hitting.

Top six forward. Needed one before the trade IMO and now they really really need one.

Sykora Getzlaf Selanne
Moen Niedermayer Lupul
Wright McDonald Perry
Fedoruk Pahlsson Hedstrom

That's how it started before Moen got tossed. He has no business on the 2nd line.

I'd leave the 1st line alone. Move Nieds to the wing and aquire a real center there. Send Perry to the AHL.

Sykora Getzlaf Selanne
Niedermayer <center> Lupul
Wright McDonald Hedstrom
Fedoruk Pahlsson Moen

I hate it when a player knows a hit is coming and intentionally keeps his back turned to make himself off limits. The refs have to make that call, but Moen has to be frustrated as hell that he got tossed from the game.

Morrow didnt touch Moen. He came in and grabbed someone who was about to pile on Arnott. I think he actually saved the Ducks from a 3rd man in penalty. And that hit from Moen was just despicable. You just cant smash a guys head straight into the glass.

If they aren't hitting posts, the goaltenders are making great saves. Very good period to watch and no scoring in that period.....I thought there was no excitement without 10 goals being scored. :sarcasm:

He has for a shift or two, all post Moen being tossed and in and around PKs and PPs. Since Moen the lines have been inconsistent to say the least.

With Carlyle, like life, all things are possible. No such thing as a line.

Here's a good line, though:
Steve Carroll - that game misconduct hurts.
Brent Severyn - not as much as Zubov's back right about now

:D He's fun to listen to. I'm changing my mind about him.

Nice of Bryzgalov to join the rest of the team in not playing 20 minutes, I thought he gave up atleast one soft goal, if not two.

what is with this team only playing 2/3 of the game?

also nice of the refs to call Modano for his dives(sarcasm)

I thought the Ducks played pretty well overall. Three horrible plays resulted in goals against, one each by Ozolinsh, Carney, and Bryzgalov. We still can't finish and our special teams still blow.

You should know whether he has a shot at the gold, as you've witnessed Kariya splashing and flopping all over the ice for about 7 straight years.. ;)

Seriously, Modano should be fined. I hate diving..

But the 3 stars, come on. How can Arnott not be number one? Not to mention Bryzgalov, who allowed 4 goals, including a softie, is a star when Morrow with 3 assists and a couple of hits is none?

Anytime a player scores a hattrick in a 4-2 game they should be the number 1 star I agree. Scott Niedermayer probably was the best player on the ice though. Easily the best game he has played as a Duck so far. Bryzgalov played 2 really good periods and 1 bad period, not sure I would have given him the third star.

It certainly wasn't the worst hit from behind I've seen this year. Zubov had just gotten turned as Moen was already intent on throwing the hit. It happens, I'm not saying it was a clean play by any stretch of the imagination though.

As far as Morrow's role. I'd have to see a replay to really judge what his role was but I know he had his gloves off wanting to throw punches...I just don't see how the only penalty out of all that for Dallas was Arnott for roughing.

So, what exactly is a turd burglar? It is my perception that you dislike lupul and from your posting history you seem to take every opportunity to bash him and no opportunity whatsoever to give him any credit. He is presently your 2nd leading scorer behind selanne and tonight got 2 well earned assists on the Anaheim goals.
He created scoring opportunities for himself and others and has done so over the last few games. I agree with the poster who pointed out that the constant rotating of lines and Carlyle's insistence on placing a "grinder" with 2 offensive players on his top lines (e.g. Fedorov, Lupul, Moen) is a mistake and a drag on offence. The whole team would produce more with some stability and 3 skilled players on the top 2 lines. With respect to Lupul, basically a second year player in the NHL almost leading his team in scoring. 3 pp goals and 2 sh goals. Could he do more? Sure he could, just like everyone else on the team but he has had a pretty decent start and is on pace for 30-35 goals and 30 assists. He, Getzlaf and Perry will soon lead this team so lighten up and give credit where credit is due and constructive criticism when warranted instead of just the criticism which you are so quick to deliver. Just my 2 cents worth.

So, what exactly is a turd burglar?

No idea, it just struck me as the right phrase at the moment.

I don't really like anything. Lupul's one of my favorite Ducks and I'd hate to see him turn out like Sykora. He's floating around, doing big loops (no pun intended) instead of bearing down and getting to the places he needs to be, like the front of the net. His million shots on goal are largely worthless. He has a hell of a lot of potential and it frustrates me to see him wasting himself on laziness. He did this for long stretches in Cincy, too.

I agree with the poster who pointed out that the constant rotating of lines and Carlyle's insistence on placing a "grinder" with 2 offensive players on his top lines (e.g. Fedorov, Lupul, Moen) is a mistake and a drag on offence. Couldn't agree more. Carlyle's dogged adherence to Burke's obsession is detrimental and kind of gross.

With respect to Lupul, basically a second year player in the NHL almost leading his team in scoring. 3 pp goals and 2 sh goals. Could he do more? Sure he could, just like everyone else on the team but he has had a pretty decent start and is on pace for 30-35 goals and 30 assists.

His numbers right now illustrate only how good he can be. Before tonight he had 2 points in his last 7 games. He has points in just 8 of our 19 games. No credit for that, sorry. This isn't the squirt leagues, where you get a pat on the back no matter what. You need to produce something besides shots on goal.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Whatever.

I don't know how many of you were at the game last night, but I was seated in section 227 about six rows up from the ice. Niedermayer was phenomenal last night. The T.V. cameras only focus on the guy with the puck. I had the luxury of focusing on any player. Not only was Scott's skating and stickhandling terrific, but also his defensive "reads" were outstanding.

I wouldn't have griped if they gave Arnott the 1st Star, but, believe me, Scott Niedermayer earned it last night.
