Gillies was returned to the Pirates with a concussion. If he was injured in the Min game isn't he supposed to stay in Anaheim until he is ready to play? I know in the past players who were injured couldn't be sent back down...clearly the money issue. I'm wondering how this works within the new CBA

I don't have an answer for your question.

But it's interesting that he came back and played the rest of the game after that fight, so maybe he was sent down to Portland without really knowing he had a concussion and then when he gets to Portland the doctors there hold him out of the lineup when he starts feeling the symptons of the concussion?

Trevor Gillies returned to Anaheim for additional tests for what is suspected to be a concussion. Gillies was hurt during his NHL debut with the Mighty Ducks on Nov. 6 while fighting Minnesota Wild heavyweight Derek Boogaard. He was placed on Anaheim's injured reserve list, retroactive to Nov. 8.

As I thought would be the case...I guess his agent woke up. :shakehead

When has Fedoruk fought Boogaard

Earlier in the season when Brennan lost badly to Boogard, Fedoruk challenged Boogard and fought him to a draw.

2 awful penalties, one of which cost us, a lost fight and a concussion. Couldn't really get much worse than that.

When have u seen him play on a regular basis, CFOB???????

Anaheim acquired him for virtually what?????? an enforcer for Portland similar to what they've had previously a soft Euro organization---u like that style do u, CFOB?

We knew what Trevor did because we play Hartford a lot and not many rivals that see the same team fans of our team hate enforcers when they're playing against your team?

Anaheim fans didn't exactly have a choice either as I recall, wasn't Fedoruk injured at the same time, wouldn't Fedoruk be the likely one who might have suffered a concussion.

Trevor wouldn't been called up and suffered the concussion and u cannot judge Trevor on one game THAT'S HIS JOB when the game starts to get boring, do u just get up and leave, or if Anaheim looks horrible for whatever reason, u want to get excited, u need players like this at times to shake things up....

I never thought I would see someone defend Trevor Gillies with such passion. But your efforts are wasted here.

You should focus that passion on bashing, complaining, anger and suicidal threats towards the Ducks.

True...Probably not the Ducks/NHL debut he was dreaming of.

As for a penalty that costs a team...well when you are 7-14 there are a lot of plays that are costing your team. But I do think it is fair to say it probably wasn't the debut he was looking for.

Gillies is a quality AHL player. One of the best fighters in the league and feared in most minor league cities. He worked his way from the an undrafted ECHL to a game in the NHL almost entirely on his reputation as a fighter. His roll may never take him to the NHL for long term but he is a valuable asset to Portland and as much as I hated to see him come into Portland wearing a different sweater I welcome him in a P's uniform and want him back/healthy as soon as possible.

So....you thought he had a pretty good debut then? When he mumbled about his dreams to his kids or whatver through his 9 teeth, he was like "when I get to the NHL, I hope I'm a huge liability"? You think he was pretty pleased with the way things went?

:speechles

Who makes the decisions for Portland huh

We had to defend a lot of bad decisions made by Washington OVER THE YEARS which made sense or no sense, depending on the decision made including a Gillies wannabe named Darcy Verot.

Totally agree, Jr, reminds you of Darcy Verot AND THE GRIEF WE took for having him on our club, due to his reputation don't u think ;)
