Site — Glendale Arena.
Radio — 1090.
Records — Ducks 7-6-1-2; Coyotes 8-9-1-1
Record vs. Coyotes — 2-0.
Update — While most of the injured Ducks have returned, defenseman Sandis Ozolinsh will be the only one not available tonight as he continues to recover from a cracked rib on his left side. The Ducks are 1-5-0-1 on the road but haven't lost to the Coyotes in their last six meetings. Phoenix goaltender Curtis Joseph was yanked after allowing three goals in the first period of a 5-3 loss to the Ducks on Oct. 23, but the 38-year-old is 7-5-0 with a 2.28 goals-against average. "I'm sure that he's not happy with the start he had here last time," Duck Coach Randy Carlyle said. Phoenix won't have tough guy Tyson Nash (abdominal strain) or center Petr Nedved (hyperextended elbow).

They've played just 16 games and only a handful with the roster they envisioned on opening night but, despite their injuries, the Mighty Ducks have made it clear they expected more than a 7-6-1-2 start to the season. Their 17 points have them tied with San Jose for last in the Pacific Division.
"It's a fact," Coach Randy Carlyle said Friday. "We're one game over .500. That's not good enough."
...Defenseman Keith Carney said it's time the team starts playing with greater consistency.
"When you first start, I think you're kind of feeling things out and getting on the same page as the club," Carney said. "Now it's time to start getting better and expect more from ourselves.
...The Ducks will have no excuses as top-line center Sergei Fedorov returns to the lineup after sitting out 13 games with a groin injury. Forward Corey Perry is also off injured reserve after sitting out the last five because of a concussion.
Of Fedorov's return, McDonald said: "We were somewhat successful even with Sergei and the other guys out. That's a positive. It shows that you have depth on your team. But to get him back and have everyone healthy, it helps your confidence level."

McDonald19 11-12-2005, 07:50 AM The NHL schedule gave the Mighty Ducks a five-day game break. The consensus among the players and Coach Randy Carlyle is that the time off was well spent, but the actual results won't be known until they start playing again - tonight in Phoenix.
"If you win, it's perfect," Carlyle said of the break. "If you don't have success, it's too many days."
It's no secret the Mighty Ducks were a team in need of a break. They were coming off a stretch in which they played eight games in 13 days. Their last two games resulted in losses to San Jose (in overtime) and Minnesota (shootout).
"It was important for us," Carlyle said. "We were pretty active on the ice (during the eight-game stretch). We were on the ice every day. We wanted to make sure that we had some form of rest, not only physically but mentally."...

Jerky Leclerc 11-12-2005, 11:14 AM Leclerc has hurt us both games we played against the Yotes. The Ducks need to shake off the rust from the layoff and skate hard in the first period.
Spankatola Jamnuts 11-12-2005, 12:32 PM We still haven't won since opening night on the road. It's been over a month since we've seen a road win. I miss them.
with all the complaints players have about Phoenix's ice, lets hope Serge doesn't have another relapse tonight...
Randall Graves* 11-12-2005, 07:25 PM So what will the lines look like tonight? I'm thinking..
Lupul/Fedorov/Niedermayer
McDonald/Getzlaf/Selanne
Sykora/Pahlsson/Hedstrom
Fedoruk/Kunitz/Moen
If i'm anywhere close, hopefully Kunitz moves around a bit.
lux_interior 11-12-2005, 08:16 PM A chance for us to continue our "unbeaten in regulation in 2 games" streak.

You forgot Corey Perry. He is supposed to play tonight.
Osprey 11-12-2005, 09:11 PM What's gotten into Fedorov? He's been really talkative recently (and giving long answers to questions), such as in the papers and in that interview just now. I'm not used to seeing him this comfortable with the media (at least in English). As a leader for the team, he needs to be more vocal, so this is very good to see.
lux_interior 11-12-2005, 09:16 PM Nagy with a neat little move puts Phoenix on top 1-0. Damn. Lupul with a nice shot, but Cujo makes the save.
Osprey 11-12-2005, 10:16 PM Wow... what is a penalty if that take down of Marshall wasn't? He had an empty net to put the puck in.

Yeah. It would be nice to actually put in one of these point blank chances.
braincramp 11-12-2005, 10:27 PM Perry and Getzlaf working together produce again; they should stay together. Carlyle seems to be creating his line combos using a lotto machine.
lux_interior 11-12-2005, 10:37 PM Ryan "Getz" the last "Laf" with that goal. Sweet little toe drag and puts her home. Tie game. Feds gets stoned on the deke. But we're playing well enough to win.

For the life of me I don't know why Perry isn't with Getzlaf allowing Selanne to play with McDonald.
Hockeyfan02 11-12-2005, 10:47 PM This reminds me of the Wild game where they are dominating and won't get the winning goal. I hope I'm wrong. Sweet goal by Getzlaf.
lux_interior 11-12-2005, 11:26 PM Finally the ref gets his ****ing hand up in the air on a holding call against Doan. It should have been holding on Doan when he took down Fedorov, or interference when someone mugged Selanne.
lux_interior 11-12-2005, 11:28 PM 4 on 3 powerplay to start OT. Almost the full 2 minutes.
braincramp 11-12-2005, 11:29 PM Well, we'll start OT with a 4 on 3.
lux_interior 11-12-2005, 11:34 PM A chance for us to continue our "unbeaten in regulation in 2 games" streak.
And we extend it to 3.
Randall Graves* 11-12-2005, 11:48 PM Man, it sucks when you dominate territorially and lose. Yeah you get a point but jesus the ducks had so many chances to win.
I was totally unimpressed with the officiating, too much stickwork and obstruction for my liking, and no coyotes fans i'm not just saying towards the ducks either.
Spankatola Jamnuts 11-12-2005, 11:56 PM This team is the exact opposite of clutch.
lux_interior 11-13-2005, 12:08 AM Choke?
McDonald19 11-13-2005, 12:18 AM and the refs and Cujo give Phoenix a win.
Those 2 refs should immediately be fired and banned from all professional and semi professional leagues in the world.
lux_interior 11-13-2005, 01:03 AM Ehh. The Ducks had tons of chances to win this game, but couldn't score on Cujo. I don't see how this one can be pinned on the refs.
Duckstudd269 11-13-2005, 02:22 AM what were the lines?

my personal beef with the refs has nothing to do with the outcome... win or lose, they sucked and weren't calling sticks on bodies. their firing would be fine with me too.
by the way, this kind of loss is the annoying one, where the opposing goalie plays like a king. What has Cujo done? The last two seasons he sucketh, and now he's all good?
what were the lines?
Sykora Fedorov Lupul
Fedoruk Getzlaf Selanne
Hedstrom McDonald Perry
Moen Pahlsson Niedermayer
by the way, this kind of loss is the annoying one, where the opposing goalie plays like a king.
Damn Cujo, doesn't he realize that he's only allowed to make a difference if the game goes to a shoot out? :D
and the refs and Cujo give Phoenix a win.

Fraser is one of the most respected refs in the game. Don't get me wrong, I hate him when my team loses, too. ;) You are right about Cujo, though, Phoenix had no business winning that game.
McDonald19 11-13-2005, 01:57 PM Ehh. The Ducks had tons of chances to win this game, but couldn't score on Cujo. I don't see how this one can be pinned on the refs.
Cujo was on his game for sure.
but the no calls on the muggings of Selanne and Fedorov were disgusting.
Duckstudd269 11-13-2005, 11:57 PM Sykora Fedorov Lupul
Fedoruk Getzlaf Selanne
Hedstrom McDonald Perry
Moen Pahlsson Niedermayer
Is there a reason why Carlyle sees the need to lose the chemistry between Perry and Getzlaf? As well as taking the chemistry away from McDonald and Selanne? :dunno:
