jr77812 11-10-2005, 12:18 AM Thought this was worthy of a new thread. ;)
Penner with 4 g 1 a. Shannon 1 g 2 a. Konopka with 1 g 1 a. Nice to have that top line back together again.
Portland won on the road 7-4. They came back from 2 down early to score 4 straight on Hartford:

sk84fun_dc 11-10-2005, 12:54 AM Hey JR - Glad to see Portland continues to play well. Too bad for Portland STH the 7 goal (4 by Penner) performance came on the road, but it sounds like they are playing well at home, too. Congrats on the Pirates start to the season.
TheJoeMan 11-10-2005, 02:45 AM That's great news. I don't think we've ever had a prospect who has improved as much as Dustin Penner. This dude could be serious power forward on this team one day and we got him for nothing :D.
Fighter 11-10-2005, 05:06 AM After last year I was pretty sure that without Chistov, Lupul and some other NHL players our farm team would have sucked badly, instead they are playing very well.
This prove once more our scouting staff is doing a great drafting job.
Pepper 11-10-2005, 06:14 AM Bbbbbbbust!
jr77812 11-10-2005, 10:11 AM Great read about the game:
http://sports.mainetoday.com/pirates/stories/051110pirates.shtml
And I just love the attitude of the team:
The Portland eruption began shortly after Jordan Smith, a 6-foot-2, 215-pound defenseman, went toe-to-toe with Martin Grenier, a 6-6, 260-pound defenseman, for more than a minute in the Pirates' end. That fight began just after a fight ended between Portland's Simon Ferguson and Hartford's David Liffiton.
"Smitty and Fergie both took it upon themselves to motivate the team," said Penner.
Pepper 11-10-2005, 11:12 AM Well we have certain resident experts on this board as well who will tell you that fighting has absolutely no role in hockey.
MightyAdam 11-10-2005, 11:28 AM As of Wednesday, November 9, 2005
No. PLAYER POS GP G A PTS +/- PIM PP SH GW

Those statistics speak louder than words! The good thing about a week off is it gives Carlyle a chance to call up a player from Portland if he chooses. With these stats, and being that Penner could easily take Fedoruk's place on Federov's line... should Federov return... I think Burke has no choice but to suggest the call up to Caryle.
I don't see how Penner won't be in the lineup this Saturday. With him and everyone else healthy, the Ducks should be a force to be reckoned with.
NOTE: Chistov never even put up those kind of numbers when playing in that league.
Pepper 11-10-2005, 11:39 AM Penner, Lupul, Getzlaf, Perry, Ryan.
We have 5 top6 forwards for the first 2 lines coming up!
MightyAdam 11-10-2005, 11:47 AM not to mention Chistov!!! With the new rulse, players like the guys on Nashville are doing well! I don't see why it would be any different with a guy like Chistov. That gives the team 6 players for the top two lines.
I say Ryan and Chistov are on the team next season. But besides Getzlaf, for the future, who can play center? Maybe Chistov can convert?
Pepper 11-10-2005, 12:33 PM Chistov will never be a center, Perry is much more likely to play center than him.
Sign someone to play centre, depth on the wing never hert anyone ;)

Lupul can play a little bit of center.
Chistov stats:
Magnitogorsk Metallurg 22 games 6 goals 7 assists 13 points 22 pim
He is third on his team in scoring. Malkin has 22 points and some guy Nurtdinov has 15 points.
Randall Graves* 11-11-2005, 01:16 AM I am a big fan of Penner, he has worked his *** off and it is starting to pay dividends. He'll never be a star but he has the potential to be a good top six forward who plays physical, pots 20 goals and wreaks havoc in front of the net(his vertical shows how strong his lower base is). We've never had a group young forwards this talented. In three years teams are going to have a hard time against us.
If Chistov ever gets it together then it's all gravy.
