Two quality goals last night. He's done well to fill in for Fedorov during his injury but does this guy deserve a real chance on one of the scoring lines?

Pwnasaurus 10-31-2005, 09:00 AM He's kinda like a poor man's Brian Gionta...flies around a bit and tries to cause havoc despite his smallish stature. TheJoeMan 10-31-2005, 12:57 PM Yeah he's also Dirk's favorite player, he loves the little guys. Professor John Frink 10-31-2005, 01:55 PM Two quality goals last night. He's done well to fill in for Fedorov during his injury but does this guy deserve a real chance on one of the scoring lines? He is earning his chance to stay on the top two lines. He clearly has some chemistry with Selanne. Once Fedorov is back there will be some tough decisions to make. But its better we have more scoring rather than not enough with Ozo, Feds, Getzlaf and Perry out. I would contest sending Perry and Getzlaf down to the minors once they are healthy again. I think Kunitz contributes more and is more ready on a day to day basis than those two. But again its a good problem to have. Pwnasaurus 10-31-2005, 02:04 PM I don't know, whenever Perry has the puck I move closer to the tv in a good "I wonder what he's gonna do" way, not in a bad "please don't let him turn the puck over" way. Everytime he's behind the net or in close he's drawing penalties. I really hope he sticks up here this season, if anything he's extremely fun to watch and he's reasonably producing. I agree, my problem comes with where is he gonna get all his icetime now? I think its a waste having these guys play 7 minutes a game. Perry is exciting I just think he will be much more exciting yeahs down the road if he is brought along slowly. Hank 10-31-2005, 02:49 PM He is earning his chance to stay on the top two lines. He clearly has some chemistry with Selanne. Once Fedorov is back there will be some tough decisions to make. Fedorov coming back makes the choices pretty easy IMO. We've got 3 really solid pairs in Fedorov-Lupul, McDonald-Selanne, and Pahlsson-Hedstrom. Then 4 guys to mix and match with them: Niedermayer, Fedoruk, Sykora, and Moen. I like Nieds on the top line. Fedoruk looks good with Selanne unless we need to push for goals with Sykora there. Sykora normally with Pahlsson spreads out the offense and he'll still get lots of minutes on the PP with more talented scorers. Moen left over for the 4th line is a good thing. And I agree, I don't see a lot of ice time left over for Perry or Getzlaf. Sending them to Portland is fine by me. Dirk316 10-31-2005, 03:51 PM Yeah he's also Dirk's favorite player, he loves the little guys. :sarcasm: McDonald19 10-31-2005, 05:04 PM He's kinda like a poor man's Brian Gionta... Poor man's Martin St. Louis!! A poor man's Gionta wouldn't score 5 goals in 5 games. Randall Graves* 10-31-2005, 05:08 PM He's earning a top 6 minutes, it's great to see him finishing. everytime he's on the ice he does something. Randall Graves* 10-31-2005, 05:11 PM I don't know, whenever Perry has the puck I move closer to the tv in a good "I wonder what he's gonna do" way, not in a bad "please don't let him turn the puck over" way. Yeah, Perry has "it" he is a puck magnent, and Getzlaf was really coming around before his injury. I was thinking of moving niedermayer on the top line with feds and lupul and keeping the mcdonald, selanne, fedoruk line together. Depth is never a bad thing. McDonald19 10-31-2005, 05:12 PM Fedorov coming back makes the choices pretty easy IMO. We've got 3 really solid pairs in Fedorov-Lupul, McDonald-Selanne, and Pahlsson-Hedstrom. Moen-Fedorov-Lupul Niedermayer-McDonald-Selanne Hedstrom-Pahlsson-Sykora Fedoruk-Konopka-Kunitz/Brennan Let Perry and Getzlaf have a fresh start in Portland when they recover from their injuries and then recall them if they light it up in the AHL. Spankatola Jamnuts 10-31-2005, 07:19 PM Poor man's Martin St. Louis!! A poor man's Gionta wouldn't score 5 goals in 5 games. A poor man's Gionta would score 0 in 50 though. Pwnasaurus 11-01-2005, 10:13 AM St.Louis never hits anyone...Gionta flies around and looks for contact as McDonald does on occasion. braincramp 11-01-2005, 04:24 PM Let's not be premature and start worrying about what to do if everyone returns; things have a way of happening. Almost every team has someone on the shelf for some reason. Does anyone remember two months ago when everyone was whining about our lack of depth? Anybody remember two months ago when everyone had Andy Mac penciled in for the 4th line? I laugh now but I was one of those people. DOH! Since playing with Teemu, McDonald has found like a 5th gear I have never seen from him before. His goal against Vokuon was awesome. mmbt 11-02-2005, 09:59 AM Anybody remember two months ago when everyone had Andy Mac penciled in for the 4th line? I laugh now but I was one of those people. DOH! Heck, I was almost ready to let him go. But then, I was thinking of the post-'03 concussion version. I had him pegged as trade bait or the odd man out(especially when my call was way off about Perry and Getzlaf getting sent down). Sometimes it feels soooo good to be soooo wrong. caliamad 11-02-2005, 01:55 PM personally I prefer: Nidermayer-Federov-Lupul Sykora-McDonald-Selanne Hedstrom-Pahlsson-Kunitz Fedoruk-Konopka/Gavey-Moen/Brennan I like except, I would put Fedoruk with Selanne And McDonald. I think Sykora there makes the line too small and we'd have no one to dig pucks out of corner. I would then Put Sykora with Getzlaf and Perry (when healthy), and dump Phalson, Hedstrom, and ? on the 4th line. Lines would look like: Niedermayer - Federov - Lupul Fedoruk - McDonald - Selanne Sykora - Getzlaf - Perry Hedstrom - Pahlson - Brennan/Moen You could switch Sykora with Lupul too, but I think the 3rd line would be too green then...
