ok, so he's in albany's roster ...

and two games have been played - yet, he's not on the scoring sheet.

any thoughts? anyone know anything about this?

Sorry if this has been asked before, but is Niklas Bergfors playing with your AHL affiliate or the LHJMQ?

I'm assuming he isn't in St. John's as I don't see statitstics under his name, but I'm wondering fi anyone in New Jersey can give me some more insight.

He is going to be in the AHL with River Rats once he gets his working VISA all sorted out as far as I know.....

How long can it take for someone to get their work visa in the States?

Ovechkin had his work visa when he stopped in Toronto before heading to Washington(granted he was drafted a few years ago)

At least send him to the Fog Devils until the matter is cleared up:)

Canada = worlds weakest immigration standards.

US post Sept 11 = strong handed immigration policy.

His agent was quoted as saying that Bergfors will go where he will get ice time.

Currently AHL Rats have played 4 games and the Fog Devils have played 12 games.

Both the Fog Devils and the Rats are both last in their divisions :(

True, but even so, Bergfors has a job waiting for him and I assume that he isn't on any wanted-for-terrorism list. So whats the problem? Just some byreaucratic weasel that enjoys his work a little bit too much?

Paperwork was faxed over, but it had Forsberg's name on it and it had already been pre-approved years ago. Rumor is Bergfors may consider legally changing his name and date of birth to a certain Flyers top liner just to get into the Albany lineup.

If he becomes a premier player and Peter stays in Philly, we need to have "Our Forsberg is Better than Your Flopberg" t-shirts. Assuming he doesn't go the Gagne route.

(Or get a better joke than the one I just made. Whichever.)

After signing with New Jersey after a successful training camp, Bergfors had to wait for his immigration papers to go through.
"In the beginning there was a problem and by the second week it was more and more frustrating," Bergfors said. "But I knew I would get a chance to play and I practiced to get ready for it."
The rookie is not the only one excited about his debut.
"If I was a fan in Albany, I would come out Saturday," Ftorek said.

Players Bergfors played with last year included goalie Olli Jokinen of the Florida Panthers and San Jose Sharks left wing Scott Thornton.

Jokinen is playing the net now? Probably a good career move for him since he can't seem to live up to his offensive potential as the #3 overall pick.

While Bergfors was on the team, he was the 13th/14th forward, so he didnt play much with Jokinen, Calder, Thornton etc...

Finally, Bergfors in Albany! I regret that I can't see the game on Saturday. Guess I'll have to wait till next wednesday's game vs. the Falcons to see him in action.
