Thoughts on game with the Wild!!!!strib 10-07-2003, 05:15 PM Be interested in hearing some Chicago fans thoughts on the game tomorrow against the ever fearless Wild. Teemu 10-07-2003, 08:39 PM I, uh, hope we win. who_me? 10-07-2003, 09:15 PM Gaborik isn't playing, right? if so, then the Hawks might have a decent chance to win Teemu 10-08-2003, 06:30 AM well, this is one of our few home games that we can see, so we'd better make it worthwhile. HAWKSWINHAWKSWIN 10-08-2003, 07:48 AM adrenaline is pumping, rookies are ready to roll, Ruutu comes out and just NAILS some poor Wild sap, and the rest is history.... Hawks 4 Wild 2 :rolly: JayzinSmith 10-08-2003, 11:50 AM No Gaborik or Dupuis for Minnesota + No Korolev for Chicago = Blackhawks win. Robert Paulson* 10-08-2003, 06:24 PM Go Nieminen!! Only saw the highlight, but it certainly looked that way... Teemu 10-08-2003, 09:20 PM that was one of the most boring games ive ever seen. but hey, at least we won. so did the ads - 5 points from McLean, 2 goals from Ellison, and babchuk and m keith had a goal apiece Oilers Hockey 10-08-2003, 09:22 PM Good job! I just saw the updates on TV and Ruutu sure didn't look like a rookie, he deserves his hype, great playmaking ability. Spiffy 10-08-2003, 10:14 PM How did the finns look? Nemo had an assist, Tuomo played mature, how about Kukkonen? aylib 10-09-2003, 08:26 AM Good job! I just saw the updates on TV and Ruutu sure didn't look like a rookie, he deserves his hype, great playmaking ability. Did you see a piece where he got stuck in the door and fell? Spiffy 10-09-2003, 08:32 AM Did you see a piece where he got stuck in the door and fell? Anyone got a video with that? Sounds hilarious... Slowe 10-09-2003, 09:02 AM Kukkonen looked pretty good and logged quite a few minutes. He played just as advertised. A steady solid defender. I expected him to have a little more trouble transitioning to the NHL game than he has, but he seems to be fitting in very well. Nieminen had an assist and damn it was nice. He basically gift wrapped the goal for Arnason. Many hawk fans penciled him in on the fourth line (myself included) in order to give playing time to some kids. So far Nieminen is making that a tough decision. JayzinSmith 10-09-2003, 11:02 AM Did you see a piece where he got stuck in the door and fell? http://www.chicagoblackhawks.com/photos/gm_100803d.jpg Slowe 10-09-2003, 12:19 PM Per blackhawkzone.com Lasse Kukkonen – Overall Grade: A-, I thought of the four rookies who played last night Kukkonen was head and shoulders the best rookie, hell, he might have even been our best Dman last night. I would describe Kukkonen’s defensive game as a poor man’s (a very poor man) Niklas Lidstrom. He is very positionally sound; this biggest piece of evidence I can give for this is that he plays the man in his position and does not chase the puck around. I remember one time in last night’s game where the Hawks were running around a bit Kukkonen had a slim chance of getting to a loose puck, but instead of doing that he stuck with his man and perhaps saved an empty net goal. Kukkonen is also very calm and collected with the puck, especially on the PK. Last night he always appeared to be taking a look before he blindly cleared the puck. The only chink in his armor is his lack of offensive production, but once again, that is just being nitpicky. Tuomo Ruutu – Overall Grade: C+, I want Ruutu to be as dominant as everyone else does but I am not going to wear rose colored glasses when watching him play if I don’t think he does a good job. Don’t get me wrong, Ruutu was not bad (he even won 50% of his faceoffs) but he didn’t do anything that really jumped out at me last night. He did have a couple of nice passes but all in all the Daze/Ruutu/Sullivan line was pretty well kept in check and once again, this cannot happen too often if the Hawks are to experience any kind of success this year. I am not trying to be too hard on the guy here (I know he is just a rookie) but he looked way better in the preseason games. Ville Nieminen – Overall Grade: B+, I thought Nieminen looked like a great 3rd line winger last night. A third line winger’s top priority should be to play well defensively (which he did terrifically last night), agitate the opposition (just seeing his goofy smile which he always wears during a game would agitate the hell out of me), and chip in some offensive production when the opportunity arrives (he had the sweet pass that Arnason finished off). When you add those up it equals a very nice Blackhawks debut. sabretooth 10-12-2003, 09:08 PM http://www.chicagoblackhawks.com/photos/gm_100803d.jpg from the 300's.....it looked like it hurt. | ||
