who is better suited for Gomez: Elias or Mogilny

When Elias returns that is. Almo and Gomez have had great chem. years back, but then again do you want to break up the E-G-G line?

I think it matters more who Parise develops chemistry with than who Gomez has chemistry with. Gomez will produce with either of them. Will Parise produce more with Elias or with Mogilny?

I actually think we'll see both setups as the players become available and whenever one line starts slumping they'll re-arrange the top-6 forwards. For those 6 slots we have at least 8 potential forwards who could produce...

Gomez, Elias, Gionta, Parise, Langenbrunner, Mogilny, Brylin, Kozlov... plus Bergfors should we see him this season and even Grant Marshall.

Elias-Gomez-Mogilny would likely be more potent. But I no longer have confidence in Mogilny to be healthy. Lou Lamoriello said Mogilny was healthy when they signed him, but now he has a hip problem again.

If Mogilny is fairly healthy during the season, the Devils could have two good scoring lines to go along with Madden's shutdown line. The Parise-Kozlov-Gionta line looked pretty good in the preseason games. If they are the second line to the GEM Line, that will be some good offensive punch.

If Mogilny is out for a while, then we’ve got the EGG Line again. Maybe Langenbrunner is moved up to the 2nd Line, or someone in Albany gets a shot at the spot.

Its always easier for a left handed Center to go his Right..........So I guess that would mean Mogilny

Elias is a left wing and Mogilny is a right wing, so it is not a question of Mogilny or Elias. It is rather a question of Mogilny or Gionta for the EGG Line to be whole once again, or it is Elias or Brylin.

It will likely be determined at the time of Elias' return. Larry Robinson could concentrate the power on one line by putting Elias with Gomez. Coach Robinson could also put Elias with Parise and Brylin to split the two biggest goal scoring threats, Elias and Mogilny.

Elias - Gomez - Mogilny
Kozlov - Parise - Gionta

or

Brylin - Gomez - Mogilny
Elias - Parise - Gionta

Either way that may very well give the Devils a #1 Line and a #1A Line.

Which is my preference, honestly.

You know, Gomez and Mogilny's magic was 5 years ago, who knows if they can re-create it, Elias-Gomez-Gionta was a season ago, they should have a better chemistry rating, therefore I think keep the EGG's together, and put Mogilny with Kozlov and Parise like Classic pointed out.

Unthinkable

Thats the same logic I used when voting.

Elias-Gomez-Mogilny

Give them lots of ice time together. Best line in the league.

Kozlov-Parise-Gionta will still score plenty of goals.

Elais - Gomez - Gionta
Kovloz - Parise - Mogilny

No doubt in my mind. Why break up a line that was small and dominated in the old NHL when rules changes will only help them.

Right.. so do you move Langenbrunner or Brylin? IMO we move Langenbrunner (better return as well as just because Brylin's been better).

Elias - Gomez - Gionta
Kozlov - Parise - Mogilny
Pandolfo - Madden - Brylin
Rasmussen - Rheaume - Marshall

If necessary, you can re-arrange the lines...

Brylin - Gomez - Mogilny
Elias - Parise - Kozlov
Pandolfo - Madden - Gionta
Rasmussen - Rheaume - Marshall

or if you want to concentrate all our offensive firepower...

Elias - Gomez - Mogilny
Kozlov - Parise - Gionta
Pandolfo - Madden - Brylin
Rasmussen - Rheaume - Marshall

or if you want to run four completely even lines...

Elias - Gomez - Marshall
Brylin - Kozlov - Mogilny
Rasmussen - Parise - Gionta
Pandolfo - Madden - Rheaume

I messed it up actually....when Elias comes back the second line will be:
Brylin - Parise - Mogilny

If Kozlov performs you move Langenbrunner instead. Whichever one of the two is the better player stays. I expect it to be Kozlov. We'll see.

Kozlov costs more and doesn't offer anything physically or defenivly that Langenbrunner does on the ice.

We'll see. I'm still interested in what Kozlov can do in a full season in Jersey, especially under Larry Robinson.

If Langenbrunner doesn't get his act together soon his ticket is punched anyway.

I tend to agree with this.........but I'm a sucker for giving players a pass who've had great playoffs.......Same with Friesen, if it was up to me I would have never moved him based on his Ottawa performance.

Pandolfo - Madden - Rheaume

Thats a nice checking line. I think it would work. Or put Marshall up there, and Rheaume 4th line C.
