Alexander Mogilny, the sharpshooter Lou Lamoriello brought back to the Devils to score goals while a disease-stricken Patrik Elias is on the shelf, now believes he'll be sidelined himself.
Raging Bull 10-04-2005, 11:07 AM Damn........hopefully it is nothing major, but we all know his recent hip problems.
I Hate Tie DOMI 10-04-2005, 11:19 AM Son of a *****!!!
Ronnie Bass 10-04-2005, 11:21 AM Well that really sucks.
Devilsfanatic 10-04-2005, 11:25 AM Well that really sucks.
I say be ready to hand out warnings just incase stuff goes crazy, which Im sure it will.
David Puddy 10-04-2005, 11:27 AM One must look at this situation with the length of the season in mind.
If Mogilny can play in 65 games, that will be great.
DevilFisch 10-04-2005, 11:29 AM Arrrrrrrrrgh! You've got to be kidding me!
Hopefully, this is a minor injury.

Yeah, but we need all the firepower we can get facing the Penguins, they might just score 5, but they don't have the defense to prevent 6.

I'm more concerned about Friday night aginst the Flyers actually, boy does this really suck.
:banghead:
David Puddy 10-04-2005, 11:36 AM Yeah, but we need all the firepower we can get facing the Penguins, they might just score 5, but they don't have the defense to prevent 6.Well I hope the Devils don't go out and try to "out slug" other teams. They need to stick to the defense first concept and captialize on other teams mistakes.
But Mogilny's presence on the power play will be missed when he's out of the lineup.
Crescent Street 10-04-2005, 12:02 PM So exactly who is threatening offensively in this lineup.. :(

No we won't be trying to do that, but sometimes these games happen (see Edmonton-New Jersey of 00-01) and if Pittsburgh does manage to net 5 goals, Im just saying their suspect D is the type of team to allow 6, and Mogilny might be the difference between a win and a loss.
JimEIV 10-04-2005, 12:04 PM Does this mean Bergfors gets to play RW with GOmez on opening night?
Guttersnipe 10-04-2005, 12:13 PM Does this mean Bergfors gets to play RW with GOmez on opening night?
Unfortunately, I think it mean one of our cadre of fourth-liners will, probably Marshall, and the actual fourth line will be Oliwa, Rheaume and Rassmusen. :help:
greatwhite101* 10-04-2005, 12:37 PM Well.... thats a huge loss for Devils... Is he going to miss game against the Flyers??? Is he day to day? Who is Devils captain?

sddev 10-04-2005, 01:17 PM Can we finally get some good news. Arghhhhhhh :shakehead
Main Devil 10-04-2005, 01:25 PM He's going to miss a few games, no big deal.
This is a team effort. While I beleive the Devils offense is not strong this season with the new rules, Mogilny won't cost the Devils a playoff spot.
JimEIV 10-04-2005, 01:26 PM No Captain for opening night 3 A's

I don't think it could cost a playoff spot, but it could make it along season offensively if he's not healthy, right now going into the season without him we realy have no legitimate snipers.
It is a concern.
devsfan8 10-04-2005, 01:49 PM Expect Gionta and Gomez to play together and get a lot of ice time tomorrow night. Parise-Kozlov-Langenbrunner will be line 2 an Marshall will play with Pando-Madden.
It is bothersome that Almo is not playing tomorrow night, but I am not writing off the Devils.
NJDevils#4 10-04-2005, 01:52 PM this sucks
Main Devil 10-04-2005, 02:13 PM No Captain for opening night 3 A's
What does this post have to do with "Mogilny to miss the opener" thread?
Did you think Mogilny was going to be the Captain of the Devils?
he doesn't want the title.
sk84fun_dc 10-04-2005, 02:18 PM I believe he was simply responding to post #17, where someone who is not following the Devs news very closely, missed the no captain info. from the other threads and asked
I hope Mogilny is only out a few games and stays healthy, I was looking forward to seeing Gomez and Mogilny play together again
JimEIV 10-04-2005, 02:28 PM Looks like more then one game... but could be ready against the Flyers...

No C --- 3 A's
Main Devil 10-04-2005, 04:43 PM No C --- 3 A's
Sorry JimEIV I didn't read the other post you were repling to, I got confused and wondered where you were coming from.
Sorry
JimEIV 10-04-2005, 04:47 PM Sorry JimEIV I didn't read the other post you were repling to, I got confused and wondered where you were coming from.
Sorry
No Problem ;)
Drewr15 10-04-2005, 04:58 PM Does this mean Bergfors gets to play RW with GOmez on opening night?
I think they should give him a shot at it.
JimEIV 10-04-2005, 05:22 PM I think they should give him a shot at it.
I read somewhere here that the Devils gave him rookie Max, If they feel that good about him, I'm sure he'll be in the lineup sooner or later.........
Which means Suglobov fell down on the Devils RW Depth chart
TaiMaiShu 10-04-2005, 05:30 PM does this make bergfors a better prospect than zajac?
GentlemanOfLeisure 10-04-2005, 06:38 PM does this make bergfors a better prospect than zajac?
Bergfors wont play in nj this year. Remember fa is 27 years or seven years of nhl service, whichever comes first.
Buya89 10-04-2005, 07:06 PM Hip Flexor sux
The Omen* 10-04-2005, 09:08 PM No way a 36yr old with a crappy hip going on IR. Who would've thought
DownFromNJ 10-04-2005, 09:13 PM So... who is our top line right now?
Unthinkable 10-04-2005, 09:14 PM does this make bergfors a better prospect than zajac?
I don't think "better" is the right description at this point. Definately closer to making the New Jersey Devils as an NHL'er though. Further along in the development curve then many figured him to be on draft day.

Not the best news to start the season, but let's just hope it doesn't turn into anything serious, but with the problems he's had in the past with it, you have to be a little worried. Let's just enjoy the fact that the regular season opens tommorow, and get pumped about opening night! :yo:
Drewr15 10-05-2005, 01:45 AM I read somewhere here that the Devils gave him rookie Max, If they feel that good about him, I'm sure he'll be in the lineup sooner or later.........

Yeah I only saw Suglobov and Bergfors each play one game and there was a big difference between the two.
I was stunned they gave him the rookie max, that shows they wanted him here and not in juniors.
4check22 10-05-2005, 09:29 AM Well,
Mogilny says he might play tonight (http://www.nj.com/devils/ledger/index.ssf?/base/sports-0/1128491810127410.xml&coll=1). If it truly is a hip flexor, there is nothing to worry about. It isn't even a part of the hip joint really -- more of a lower abdominal muscle. Of course Scott Stevens had a nasty case of the flu back in 2004 too. :sarcasm:
Unthinkable 10-05-2005, 02:59 PM There were some massive overreactions over on NJDevs.com about Mogilny's health last night imo.
