Harvey sent to ClevelandBaron Von Shark 10-06-2003, 11:22 AM http://www.sjsharks.com/sharks/news/20031006-1065467659.htm Friesenh2o 10-06-2003, 11:29 AM http://www.sjsharks.com/sharks/news/20031006-1065467659.htm kind off a surprise move, but I really like it. The first statement by the front office. You arent GIVEN a roster spot on this team. In the Lombardi and Sutter era this would never have happened. Good decision by the front office. I'd rather have Michalek with this team than Harvey. Av-merican 10-06-2003, 11:41 AM Whoa. Surprising news. I suppose Harvey has had a pretty terrible training camp and preseason, hence his being exposed to waivers and the subsequent demotion. Well, from what I hear about this Michalek kid, if it's a choice between him and Harvey, then they should go with youth. gruntsplatter 10-06-2003, 12:24 PM I don't know if it's that Harvey is doing poorly, he honestly looked better in the preseason game I saw him in than he did most of last year, he had his fire back. I think it's more a matter of a shift in team philosphy and what type of players they want to ice. Harvey himself said when he was put on waivers that the team seemed to be focusing more on speed this year, and thus he was probably not a part of that equation. Mr Brownstone 10-06-2003, 12:51 PM He won't sit in the A long. He'll ask for a trade before he sits down here for a while. vilpertti 10-06-2003, 01:19 PM I think it was done because he was demotable after he cleared the waiver draft on the exposed list... ^^ (edit)maybe i should read the news on sjsharks.com too.. they said it there :D^^ And yes, I too smell a trade nearing... Baron Von Shark 10-06-2003, 01:43 PM The article says that Harvey's agent has the okay to look for a trade. I think it was near the bottom, not exactly in those words. Kevin Wey 10-06-2003, 01:51 PM Actually, if I'm right, this is pretty simple. By having cleared the waiver draft, Harvey does not have to clear waivers the rest of the year when sent down. (I wish I could find exactly where I heard that.) If anybody knows for certain I'm not right on that let me know, but I swear I remember hearing on as ESPN telecast years ago that was the case. (Not before the current CBA though, not that many years ago) Obviously, the same would now hold true of Zalesak, if I'm right on that. Conversely, now Tavis Hansen will have to clear waivers if recalled and sent back down, and Mulick. (I'm not sure if Cloutier will or not, because otherwise he doesn't fall into having to clear waivers, but being included on the Waiver Draft list, I'm not sure which has supremacy.) So, if Doug Wilson cares to come and post a reply, we can get this figured out :) Mr Brownstone 10-06-2003, 02:52 PM Actually, if I'm right, this is pretty simple. By having cleared the waiver draft, Harvey does not have to clear waivers the rest of the year when sent down. (I wish I could find exactly where I heard that.) The deal is this. Harvey would not have to clear waivers, and neither would Zalesak. Anyone else sent down who has reached the minimum of games played in accordance with age would have to clear waivers. Therefore anyone but Zalesak, Harvey, and the rookies who made the team would have to clear waivers to come down.
