All right! :handclap:

Congrats to Danny for a job well done. Here's hoping he has a long, successful career with the Jackets.

Also, let's give credit to DM for getting this done so quickly. I was getting a little nervous this morning when I read that time was running out to sign Fritsche in time for him to stay with the big club.

When I read that he was willing to take less because he really wanted to be up here, I was impressed. I was also surprised at the candor of a kid in the middle of negotiations. He says if he should be up here, he should be up here.

Great news for the organization, as well as Dan and his family.

Where did you read that he was willing to take less?

Good for Fritsche...

I remember reading in a Dispatch article that he would accept slightly less than market value in order to make the team.

Quite a contrast to Kiel 'effing McLeod. :handclap:

He had a quote in the Dispatch that he told his agent that he was willing to take "less than market value" just to get a contract done. He was more concerned about playing than making money. I wish more players had that attitude.

GREAT player and a GREAT kid. this is the kind of kid you want on your team. i really think that he is here for the long haul unless he totally blows in the beg of the season. i think he has shown that he has the ability and character that shouldhave made him a top pic not a mid second rounder

But I hope they send him back to Sarnia.

Don't get me wrong. Fritsche was a terrific draft choice and is probably going to be really productive for a lot of years.

I think another year in junior - a year in which he could reasonably be expected to excel - might give him a chance to add a layer of polish to his offensive skills. This could make the difference between topping out as a top-quality, gritty second-line guy, and developing into something really special.

I know Nash made the jump at 18 and in his case I think it proved to be justified. But any team that makes a habit of throwing teanagers into the NHL grind is taking an awful risk.

But the signing is a good move - one less administrative issue to mess with.

Im probobly the only one here that hopes Dan is sent back to Sarnia and isnt heard from again for another two years.

But hey, I dont run the team.

I think he should be sent back....just because he likely won't be a Top 6 forward as an 18 year old...so waiting for him to get to 20 or 21 to be put in that position to me is the best move...

But hey...It;s also neat to think that he's up here....

It cant hurt to let him play 8-10 games. It will only understand how far he has to go yet.

Good news!!

I'd be happy seeing him get a few games in up here, and then go back to juniors.

Fritsche sounds like the Anti-McClod.

I think that's exactly what will happen, unless he's scoring big time or something.

the latest dispatch article makes it sound like he will be around for a while

Congrats to Dan and the Jackets. I'm not a huge Jackets fan, but I watched ALOT of Dan in Sarnia last year, and this kid is something special. On top of his skills, he's very down to earth and has a solid head on his shoulders. Hopefully he can turn this opportunity into a long and successful career in the NHL in Columbus! Between him and Letowski, the Jackets now have probably two of the better players to have come out of Sarnia.
