Is that Sokol Kyiv? I don't remember if they play in that league
Irate-Pirate 09-09-2005, 08:04 AM It certainly is Sokol Kiev! They play here as well as two Latvian teams, Metallurgs and Riga-2000.
12# Peter Bondra 09-09-2005, 04:21 PM So Рига-2000 is Riga-2000?
znarok 09-09-2005, 08:49 PM Here is how it shoulda look like to begin with:
Yunost (BLR) 6:3 Vitebsk (BLR)
Khimvolokno (BLR?) 4:0 Khimik-SKA (BLR?)
Gomel (BLR) 4:3 Metallurgs (LAT)
Sokol (UKR) 4:3 Riga-2000 (LAT)
Neman (BLR) 1:3 Keramin (?)
Brest (BLR) 1:4 Dinamo (BLR)
Irate-Pirate, please correct me if I'm wrong :help: You can add cities where the teams are from...
Irate-Pirate 09-10-2005, 06:34 AM Ok, sorry. I was being lazy and couldn't be bothered re-typing the scores in English!
BELARUS teams:

Irate-Pirate 09-10-2005, 06:39 AM I would just like to point out that Dynamo Minsk's jersey is in the traditional style of having the big "D" on the front!!! :yo: Not like Dynamo Moscow's rubbish one with a sponsor!!! :biglaugh:
znarok 09-10-2005, 02:48 PM :yo: Not like Dynamo Moscow's rubbish one with a sponsor!!! :biglaugh:

Arturs Irbe!
Irate-Pirate 09-14-2005, 09:49 AM There are a couple of other goalies people may recognise.... Igor Karpenko for Sokol, Oleg Shevtsov for Dynamo!
12# Peter Bondra 09-14-2005, 04:13 PM Irbe signed with Riga?
yeap
but he waits for proporsals from BIG clubs
he try to stay "in shape" & play then for Latvia in Olimpics and WC in Riga'06

I guess he wont play in North America and risk missing the World Championships at hom.
BTW, is Irbe the most popular player in Latvia?
Irate-Pirate 09-15-2005, 02:35 PM Thu 15th
In the Minsk derby between Keramin and Yunost, the lead changed between the teams all the way through before they had to settle for a 4-4 tie.
Sokol kept up their 100% record with a comfortable 3-0 win at lowly Vitebsk.
In a re-match of the recent Belarus Cup final, Dynamo once again was able to beat high-flying Khimvolokno (3-1). This was Khimvolokno's first loss of the season and keeps Dynamo's challenge going strong!
Gomel are the only other team that is 100%. They won a tight match against Khimik-SKA 1-0
The two Latvian teams had mixed fortunes. In something of a slight surprise, Neman picked up their first victory in a 1-0 win against Metallurgs. In Riga, the home team had a 2-0 lead but Brest came back to tie it up late on. Perhaps Brest thought this would be enough to earn them at least a point, but Riga stole full points with a last-gasp goal! 3-2 final score

BTW, is Irbe the most popular player in Latvia?
Id think so.
And its nice to see him want to end his career in front of his own fans and in his country.
znarok 09-16-2005, 01:40 AM Id think so.
And its nice to see him want to end his career in front of his own fans and in his country.
Definitely, he is THE MOST POPULAR HOCKEY PLAYER in Latvia.
Sandis Ozolinsh is number 2,
Helmut Balderis (who played in 70-80s) is number 3.
No matter what, Irbe will serve a goalie in a home World Championship and finish his great career!
