I've been intrigued since Feaster has said Barber compiled a list of what a potential full affiliation would look like. I don't know if it was for this year or next... but it got me to thinking what a full affiliation will eventually look like come next year.
Next year's Louisville Cheetah's (???) could look like this:
Veteran/Perrin/Somervuori
Henrich/Craig/Veteran
Polushin/Kazionov/Artukhin
Packard/Soucy/Reid
Veteran/Holmqvist
Dicaire/Van Hoof
Ranger/Bergfors
O'Brien
Konstantinov
Eklund
(Further depth players provided independently by the Cheetahs)
It could be an interesting group. Perrin back with Somervuori would be dynamite, presuming neither made the Lightning next summer. Craig and a veteran could help break Henrich into the pros. I'd PAY to see a Polushin/Kazionov/Artukhin line... just like I would've paid to see an Afanasenkov/Svitov/Alexeev line. Packard/Soucy/Reid would be a ***** of a crash line to play against.
Very mobile and reasonably skilled backline. Could use some more defense in there which may mean signing two vets and leaving O'Brien to play another year overage in junior.
Goaltending? Konstantinov's last stand. One last year to prove he has any future. Pressure's on. Coleman and Boutin will be in their signing years in '04-'05. Koshechkin may be kicking down the door by then too.
I can see why Barber said he wants to quit pushing paper and coach this team. I think it would be a work in progress, but I think you see quality talent there that's ready to pop.
