Zalesak and Harvey were not claimed in the waiver draft, and the Sharks didn't claim anyone, either.
Niko Dimitrakos, Lynn Loyns, and Marcel Goc were assigned to the Barons today.

Well, here are the 14 forwards left.
Cheechoo
Damphousse
Ekman
Harvey
Korolyuk
Marleau
McCauley
Michalek
Parker
Primeau
Ricci
Smith
Sturm
Thornton
Looks like Michalek has made it. Who the heck are the 2 scratches? Has to be between Smith/Primeau/Korky/Harvey/Ekman/Cheech.
Primeau, Ekman and Cheech have all played pretty well in the pre-season, and the team has made a point of calling Korky a top-6 guy. To me, looks like Harv and Smith are the odd guys out to start.
Zalesak has not been sent down, so there are currently 15 forwards on the roster. If they keep 3 goalies, there's only room for 13 forwards, so two more will have to go and you'll only need to worry about one scratch for each game.

The Barons Blast newsletter lists Zalesak as being sent down, while the Sharks website didn't...at least it didn't earlier. I haven't checked back yet. :rolly:

with the latest roster moves and the info from the sjsharks.com news page, it looks like this is the sharks lineup for now:
thornton-marleau-koroluyk
damphousse-mccauley-sturm
michalek-ricci-cheechoo
ekman-primeau-parker
harvey/smith
i like that 3rd line. it brings up memories of the sharks 3rd line of 2 seasons ago. cheechoo isn't quite a scott thornton, but he does have a physical side to his game, and has definite scoring ability. and michalek has some sundstrom like qualities: good skating, passing, and defensive awareness. however, as the sharks site points out, as long as the sharks are carrying 3 goalies, they may only be able to keep 13 forwards up. im guessing ekman and michalek are the most likely to be sent down. personally, i'd rather see either of them (ans smith or harvey, for that matter) on the roster than korky, who was handed a top-six position as soon as he re-signed with the team, but hasn't earned it. but hopefully the goalie situation will be worked out soon. overall, i think the sharks have a very solid offensive lineup. lacking in superstars perhaps, but better than minnesota's lineup from last season at least. combine that with the young-stud defense (once stuart is back), and i don't think it'd be a stretch to see san jose competing for a playoff spot. this all depends on several of the young players stepping up their games and the resurgence of nabokov, but things don't look as grim for the sharks as it did at the end of last season.

hi
Am a Pens fans but a Mass native - was wondering what happened to Dimitrakos? I assumed after last season's performance he would have been a lock for the team this season. Just read he got sent down.
Any info would be great, thanks.

He did pickup a good number of goals, but he was brutal defensively. Ron Wilson is really trying to get the Sharks forwards to be better in their own zone, and perhaps he didn't feel Niko had made enough progress.
I kinda thought it would happen. I traded him for Ribiero on my HFNHL team.

Well in SJ-SHARKS.com newest article it's basically players just going on about how impressive Michalek has been. Sturm and Ricci giving those coments is a big thing. Ehrhoff is getting rave reviews from the coaching staff. Even Preissing is getting props :) :)
Also on the article it does say Zalesak has been sent down. So does Clevelands site.

Niko definitely has all of the offensive intangibles that it takes but his defense is sub-par thus far in his career. But he's an exceptionally smart player and he will definitely turn it around and be a Shark by December.

cool - thanks for all your replies about Dimitrakos
