chris_dub 08-23-2005, 06:07 PM Hard, gritty worker who always showed up to play.
Gonna miss him.
EDIT:
Rooch gets shipped out to NYR. Also very sad to see him go. Long serving Duck & team captain.
Oh well, out with the old in with the new I guess under this Burke regime...
...but then again, Teemu is back...
I duno...:help:
Jerky Leclerc 08-23-2005, 06:34 PM Good Luck. :handclap:
I'm going to miss him. :pout:
Now he is our enemy. :madfire:
He must be destroyed. :toothless
Then we will celebrate. :hockey:
Ducks_è_Halos 08-23-2005, 06:39 PM ^Agreed. I appreciate what he did for this team. I am sad to see him go and I would wish him and his team the best of wishes but since he will now play for a division rival... :sarcasm:
McDonald19 08-23-2005, 06:53 PM He was on his game in the 2003 playoffs...thats the way I will remember him.
Big powerplay goal vs. Dallas and the nice little pass to send Sykora in all alone to beat Minnesota in OT. Part of the shutdown line with Rucchin and Niedermayer.
He was drafted by Anaheim in the 95 entry draft, and was our best player from that draft.
A look back on the 95 draft:
1-4th overall Chad Kilger C...traded in Selanne deal, has been a well traveled grinder.
2-29th overall Brian Wesenberg RW...traded to Philadelphia on March 19, 1996 for Anatoli Semenov and the rights to Mike Crowley. played 1 NHL game for Phily in 98-99 season. Clearly a bust for a 29th overall pick.
3-55th overall- Mike Leclerc LW :handclap:
5-107th overall- Igor Nikulin RW...played in Cincy from 95-96 through 98-99...played 1 NHL game for Anaheim...returned to Russia as a UFA in 99-00.
6-133rd overall Peter Leboutillier RW, played 35 NHL games for Anaheim with 176 pims, most notably his role as part of the Anaheim Dallas brawl in 98. Left the Ducks organization in 2000 played a season for Lowell in the AHL then went to Europe for one season and retired in 2002.
7-159th overall, Mike LaPlante D...did not pursue a pro career after college.
8-185th overall Igor Karpenko G...played a couple of AHL seasons 97-98 through 98-99 returned to Russia in 99-00.

What is even more impressive is he went into the playoffs on one leg, not to mention picking up the bumps and bruises of the NHL playoffs. He went at Hatcher the whole Dallas series, he was usually on the short end of the battles but he always came back for more. Hopefully he will be able to be healthy but unfortunatly I doubt it with his knee the way it is. Best of luck Mike! :yo:
Snap Wilson 08-23-2005, 07:23 PM And the pass to Ozo in Game Six of the Dallas series (aka, my favorite Duck game ever). He was arguably our best forward in the 2003 playoffs.
lux_interior 08-23-2005, 08:05 PM I'll sure miss him in a Ducks uniform. Sad to hear he was traded. He was one of my favorite players.
Hey will Jerky change his handle now?

Cocky Konopka has a ring to it.

That was actually a backhand shot that Turco booted straight to Ozo. Same difference, though. Good play.
Reaper45 08-23-2005, 08:39 PM Better change it to the Leclerc and Rucchin appreciation thread.
Snap Wilson 08-23-2005, 09:41 PM Rooch was my favorite Duck since the team's inception. I realised his departure was inevitable, but I was hoping for one last hurrah.
My favorite Rucchin moment (and probably my favorite moment as a Duck fan) didn't even come during a game. After Game Four against Detroit, Rucchin stayed on the ice to get interviewed by ESPN, I think. Most of the fans were still in their seats whooping it up. When the interview finished, Rucchin slowly skated back to the bench, and acknowledging the cheering crowd, tapped his stick on the ice the whole way. A very classy, appreciative gesture to the fans that had supported the team since the beginning.
Jerky Leclerc 08-23-2005, 09:44 PM Who can forget Game 4 OT upset against the Detroit Red Wings? Carney behind the net, passes to Rooch, GOAL!!!!! The Pond goes nuts and everyone jumps on Rooch.
Best Mighty Ducks moment ever IMO.

Yea that was a perfect way to end that series. I remember thinking it couldn't have happened to a better guy, and watching him celebrate was awsome! It will be so weird watching him play in a Rangers uni but hopefully he continues his strong play there.
Reaper45 08-23-2005, 09:50 PM So what does your top 6 look like now?
Ducks_è_Halos 08-23-2005, 09:51 PM Yeah, I'll never forget Rooch's OT goal vs. the Wings, ensuring the SWEEP!!!
God, I'm going to miss him so much...
This is going to take some getting used to. :(
Spankatola Jamnuts 08-23-2005, 09:56 PM :(
Rucchin was a favorite of mine, even when I was pulling my hair out about how he wasn't as physical as he could be. Objectively, I can say I'd rather have Selanne and Niedermayer than Leclerc and Rucchin, but sentimentally this is a brutal move.
I hope it makes sense next offseason to reacquire him.
McDonald19 08-23-2005, 10:05 PM So what does your top 6 look like now?
Second line center is the big question mark...
Niedermayer-Fedorov-Lupul
Sykora-Getzlaf-Selanne

Dude, I have it on Video Tape, you know. Anyways, sad to see him go, but I guess Burke's plan of attack is to balance out the roster with vets(Fedorov, Niedermayer, Sykora, Selanne) and rookies(Getzlaf, Perry, Lupul)
caliamad 08-24-2005, 12:43 AM dark day for the ducks... i can't wrap my head aorund this move... why dump Ruchin and Leclerc when you can dump Sykora and get the same $$$....

I'm upset too. But to be honest...I wouldn't be surprised if Sykora scores close to as many goals as Leclerc and Rucchin combined.
Spankatola Jamnuts 08-24-2005, 12:56 AM He is due.

agreed. Personally It's only a sentimental loss for me. I think Rooch was overpaid, but he was a fan favorite. Good luck Rooch
