Jason MacIsaac 08-21-2005, 11:54 PM With QMJHL camps well underway I think its about time to start a thread like this. Just like last year post anything about prospects in here. Jason MacIsaac 08-21-2005, 11:55 PM Found this on Fayne http://www.hockeyjournal.com/bruins/200507/draft27.htm Mark Fayne - Noble & Greenough Academy (USHSE): A smart player with good size and footwork, Fayne is tremendously athletic young man. At 6'3", 205, Fayne does a lot of things well. While not an offensive player, the skills are in place for him to chip in some points. He works extremely hard, has great character, and sees the ice well. Toward the end of the season, Fayne really started to move up the draft charts. "He has good size and athletic ability, and has a chance to be a good player," said Gorton. Fayne could be similar to the aforementioned Alberts, who was drafted late and developed into a fine prospect. Bergfors joined camp this weekend but didn't play verses the Mooseheads tonight, there is another Swedish player in the fog devils camp that is getting rave reviews allready. Oscar Sundh is really showing great skill against rookies....It will be interesting to see him verses Vets. rat_riot97 09-01-2005, 02:03 PM How soon do you think we'll be able to see Fayne or Bergfors in Albany. With Parise and possibly Suglobov gone up to the big club, I think we'll be needing all the offense we can get. And what about Zajac? Is he still at UND? ndhockey21 09-01-2005, 07:06 PM Zajac is still at UND. What is James Massen doing? AHL, ECHL?? NJDraft 09-01-2005, 07:20 PM Fayne is still in school and uncommited: so it will be years before he's in Albany. -RW St.Sebastians 5'11 190 1-28-88 HARVARD Ben Smith-RC Westminster Prep 5'11 170 7-11-88 BOSTON COLLEGE Alex Biega-RD Salisbury Prep 5'9 176 4-4-88 2004 Quebec U-17 team Vladimir Nikiforov-LC (EJHL) 5'6 145 10-2-87 U.MASS Tony Romano-RC NY Bobcats (AtlanticJHL) 5'10 165 1-5-88 CORNELL Dan Rossman-RW Jr.Warriors (EJHL) 5'11 175 4-28-87 NORTHEASTERN Patrick Cullity-LD Berkshire 6'1 180 1-27-87 BOSTON UNIVERSITY Bobby Butler-RW Jr.Bruins (EJHL) 6' 183 4-26-87 49-18-14-32-36 Chris Cahill-LW Phillips Andover 5'10 171 1-26-87 Hunter Thunell-LD Phillips Andover 6'3 195 1-2-87 BROWN Tom Dignard-LD Phillips Andover 5'11 188 4-27-87 Josh Stone-W Trinity Pawling 5'9 175 8-10-88 Austin Mayer-W Walpole (EJHL) 5'11 170 7-26-88 52-17-31-48-40 Brother at Yale Jonathan Wolter-RD Westminster 5'9 175 8-17-88 Jason Williams-RC/W NH Monarchs (EJHL) 5'8 180 2-22-86 COLGATE Kory Falite-LW Jr.Bruins (EJHL) 5'9 175 7-18-86 U.MASS-LOWELL Kief Orsini-RW Tabor Academy 5'11 165 6-27-87 Kevin Crane-RD Phillips Exeter 5'11 178 2-11-88 PRINCETON Peter Boldt-LD Taft Prep 6' 170 1-16-87 DARTMOUTH Chris Murphy-LW Walpole (EJHL) 5'10 170 1-23-87 2003 USA U-17 team Matt Kronk-RD Jr.Bruins (EJHL) 6'3 210 8-12-88 Matt Germain-LC NH Monarchs (EJHL) 6' 185 4-6-86 Justin Pallos-C Jr. Bruins (EJHL) 5'9 175 12-22-87 UNION Mark Fayne-RD Nobles 6'3 205 5-15 -87 2005 NHL Draft #155 Mike Cornell-LD Walpole (EJHL) 6' 185 7-22-88 44-0-3-3-96 Belizarius 09-16-2005, 06:59 AM 1st game in SM Liiga last night. Tappara won the game. Teemu Laine is 3rd star for his team scoring the 1st goal and adding 2 PIM. Didn't found Ahosilta with KalPa... We've been careful with him because he had knee surgery." So as of now Sundstrom is a strong skater, good defensivly, gritty and has a great shot. Am I the only one who see's alot of potential in this kid. Davef 09-21-2005, 12:49 PM I am in Everett Wa King's Junior team. I was wondering how he is doing? Our season starts Friday and wondering if he will make it back in time. Any info would be helpful Thanks NJDevs430 09-21-2005, 08:17 PM I am in Everett Wa King's Junior team. I was wondering how he is doing? Our season starts Friday and wondering if he will make it back in time. Any info would be helpful Thanks He was working on some drills one-on-one with one of the coaches yesterday. So, either they see that he needs some improvement and will send him back to Everett, or they see that he has potential and will sign him to Albany. Either way, I'm not sure...but I'm hoping for the best for him. }:-)> Charlie_Girl 09-22-2005, 05:23 PM Just an FYI - Mark Fraser has just been named captain of his Kitchener Rangers. Belizarius 09-23-2005, 05:51 AM good news for Fraser! Randy Kings is 18 he can't be assigned to AHL. He's coming in time for the opener : http://heraldnet.com/stories/05/09/23/100spo_silvertips001.cfm Teemu Laine had an assist in a 7-1 win. Stats : 4GP, 1G, 3 A, 4 pts, 2 PIM. Charlie_Girl 09-23-2005, 12:57 PM From the Noof site.......no confirmation. http://www.kitchenerrangers.com/News.asp?Article=719 There's an article in today's Kitchener Record about him as well... www.therecord.com (but you need a password) - here are a couple of highlights: KITCHENER (Sep 23, 2005) Smart kid. Well-liked. Big, strong defender, too. "He's an impressive young guy," said DeBoer of Fraser, who succeeds the legendary Michael Richards as Rangers captain. "He's very mature for his age. I think he stands for all the right things as a student athlete. Off the ice and on the ice, he stands for all the right things. He's a blue-collar, gritty guy who works hard and gives you what he's got every night. He's willing to stand up for himself and his teammates." So what kind of captain will Fraser be? He's got a pretty good idea. "Always lead by example," he said. "Just be a good role model around the boys and someone they can look up to and trust." Belizarius 09-24-2005, 05:24 AM OHL season debut. Windsor 2-9 Kitchener. Mark Fraser 0 pt, +1, 8 PIM (roughing, interference x2, holding) Patrick Davis 2G 1A, +3, 2 PIM (hooking) Other notes : *G Dustin Slade (Vancouver) stopped 19/21 in a 2-2 tie, losing in shootout. He was invited in the Devils traing camp. Jason MacIsaac 09-24-2005, 09:46 PM OHL season debut. Windsor 2-9 Kitchener. He was invited in the Devils traing camp. Davis had a very good game....many think he will pot 40 goals this season with new bulk and a different attitude. JDevils3 09-25-2005, 12:00 AM Davis had a very good game....many think he will pot 40 goals this season with new bulk and a different attitude. This kid could turn out to be a real steal! I know the knock on him is he's real soft. But there seems to be alot of room in the "new" NHL for soft players. I think we are going to start to hear the term soft, less and less. By the way, my theory is really only based on the few preseason games I've seen this year(and a hunch), which have completely lacked any physical play. Everyone still seems to be skating around afraid to take penalties. :teach: Give'em Hell! 09-25-2005, 12:02 AM Valeri Klimov scored his first RSL goal. i think he has played in the last three games for Spartek while Mikhailishin and Kadeykin have seen no action thus far this year for Spartek which is abit dissapointing. http://www.russianprospects.com/public/league_page.php?tour_id=2006011&season_part=1&anchor=Box&anchor=Main Belizarius 09-25-2005, 06:14 AM Saturday : WHL Spokane 2-4 Kootenay D Sean Zimmerman 0 pt, -1, 0 PIM SM Liiga Tappara won 1-0 with Teemu Laine scoring the lone goal of the game, earning 2nd star honor. He has a strong start with 2G+3A in 5 games. Jared Ramsden 09-25-2005, 10:16 PM SM Liiga Tappara won 1-0 with Teemu Laine scoring the lone goal of the game, earning 2nd star honor. He has a strong start with 2G+3A in 5 games. He got off to such a strong start last season, but faded badly down the stretch. Let's hope he can keep up this consistent play throughout the season. Jason MacIsaac 09-25-2005, 10:18 PM Davis had an assist in a 6 - 3 win today. Fraser with no points actually got a third star so he must have been impressive defensivly. Davis took two hooking calls and a holding...they are lazy penalties that he will have to avoid. Jason MacIsaac 09-28-2005, 11:57 PM I was just reading Fog Devils message board and there was a rumor going around that Bergfors was to sign today and would be playing in the AHL. Like I said..only a rumor. MissionHockey 09-29-2005, 12:15 AM I was just reading Fog Devils message board and there was a rumor going around that Bergfors was to sign today and would be playing in the AHL. Like I said..only a rumor. Do you have a link to the message board? I'd like to see what else they are saying about him. Classic Devil 09-29-2005, 12:16 AM Do you have a link to the message board? I'd like to see what else they are saying about him. I visited a Fog Devils board... basically it was along the lines of "please, please, please, please let us have Bergfors, we neeeed him!" Honestly not a whole lot else. Jason MacIsaac 09-29-2005, 11:59 PM Just visiting sites and UND now how Travis Zajac listed at 6`2 210....up from 6`2 195 last year. I also visited a message board and a poster said Zajac put on alot of upper body muscle. He was allready one of the stronger players along the boards last year....now he may be dangerous. Jeff Frazee has weighed in at 6 feet 201....really big for a goaltender. I hope he didn't come to Gophers camp out of shape. Tyler Eckford stands at 6`3 215....good size for him. Jason Smith 6`2 193....he will play alot this year and we will finally see what he is capable of. Belizarius 09-30-2005, 04:15 AM Teemu Laine news. Tappara won 3-2 against SaiPa, Laine has 2 assists, earning 3 stars honors for his team. Stats : 6 GP, 2+5=7 pts, 2 PIM. Tied for 2nd in league scoring. Charlie_Girl 09-30-2005, 11:10 PM Davis had both of Kitchener's goals tonight (2nd star) in their 4-2 loss to Saginaw. Belizarius 10-01-2005, 05:41 AM Laine again team 2nd star. Tappara lose 6-5 vs KalPa. Laine had only 1 assist, he must have made a pretty strong game to earn 2nd star... With KalPa another Devil prospect, Marko Ahosilta, played his 1st game of the season, 0 pt. Kitchener : Fraser was -3 and 0 pt, 0 PIM. Davis 2G, -1, 2 PIM, 2nd star. Jason MacIsaac 10-01-2005, 10:36 PM Patrick Davis scored 2 goals tonight in a 4 - 2 win over Owen Sound. He now has 6 goals and 2 assists for 8 points in 4 games. Last year before he bulked up, PEli has some friends in Kitchener so he would probably the first to get a view of him unless Sportsnet covers a CHL game. Jason MacIsaac 10-02-2005, 02:27 PM http://www.gonanooks.com/artman/publish/article_958.shtml The hardest shot title was won by UAF’s lone senior, Kelly Czuy (Edmonton, AB/Canmore-AJHL), who fired a 99 mph slap shot. Czuy defeated sophomores Greentree and Adam Powell (Fairbanks, AK/Chilliwack-BCHL), and freshman Tyler Eckford (Langley, BC/South Surrey-BCHL), who each had a hardest shot of 97 mph. Pretty big boomer from the point Eckford has. ratsgirl 10-06-2005, 06:37 PM http://www.goerie.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20051004/HOCKEY01/510040417 (registration required, I think) Disher, 20, declined New Jersey's one-year AHL/ECHL contract and an assignment to the ECHL's Augusta (Ga.) Jared Ramsden 10-08-2005, 02:01 PM Patrick Davis yet another goal(his 7th) in a 5-2 win for the Rangers. I just read an interesting little blurb on Davis on the McKeens website. I can't post the whole article on here, but in summary, it says Davis has been the most impressive prospect on a Kitchener team that has the most NHL drafted players in the OHL and that new crackdown on obstruction should help Davis blossom this season. Belizarius 10-09-2005, 10:13 AM Zimmerman 0 pt, 0 PIM last night. Zajac didn't score in North Dakota 1st win this season (Toews and Oshie stole the show), and he didn't shoot. Okay Lou, then Davis hasn't been the most impressive - he has been good, but anyone who says Davis has been the most impressive on the team is looking with funny glasses. Frazee 1st game (3-3 tie, 34 saves). Disher 2nd win and 3rd star. Zimmerman 1 point. Rats win. Tarkir 1st game, Zajac still scoreless. Finally found some stats on Klimov. But I have nothing at this point on some other players. DevsFan30 10-17-2005, 01:53 AM Kitchener won 3-1 tonight. Unfortunately, Fraser and Davis were both -1 and did not record a point. Fraser went off for holding, fighting, instigating, fighting, and he received a gross misconduct. That's actually a total of 24 PIM, but in the WHL they don't count misconducts in the actual totals so it goes down as 14 PIM. I really don't like our prospects fighting (unless it's Janssen obviously) but I guess once in awhile it's okay to show some intensity in that matter. I like Fraser and Davis a lot - I hope they both have nice seasons. Jason MacIsaac 10-17-2005, 10:06 AM Whats going on with Zajac? 3 games and no points, I was expecting him to improve on last season totals. He and his linemates are off to a poor start offensivly. On the bright side Zajac is on the first PK unit and UND has only gave up 1 goal on 33 attempts which is pretty damn good. When a player is playing on the PK so much it is pretty hard to focus on offense. Charlie_Girl 10-17-2005, 10:22 AM Kitchener won 3-1 tonight. I like Fraser and Davis a lot - I hope they both have nice seasons. While I'm not a big fan of fighting, Fraser's fights today were the result of someone running a rookie, and a questionable hit on one of the forwards. It was great to see him step up and defend these players. He's been almost too quiet so far this year and his actions today were warranted and needed. As far as Davis goes, he was centering the 3rd line (instead of top line RW) and played very well. Belizarius 10-23-2005, 10:13 AM http://lepalethockey.free.fr/actu/njdevs_prosp.html Updated. All that ability, and youre right, he does seem like he's outa shape. Hopefully he's just an 18 year old kid who figures out he has to dedicate himself to get better. Because everytime I've seen him play, he's been spectacular. Under 18, for the most part, he was the best player on the ice for the US. Perkovich on fire in USHL, scoring a goal in 3 straight games. Davis scored 9th goal of season last night. Zimmerman playing very well in Spokane (+5) Jason Smith 2nd win with Sacred Heart. Frazee 2nd win, 3-1, for Minnesota. North Dakota had a tough lost vs Denver, Zajac pointless. Albany 1L 1W this week-end, last night 3-1 with 1G+2A for Jason Ryznar. Sundstrom now has 9 pts in 9 games in Sweden juniors. Posnov scored his 4th goal of the season (20 games) in Russia. Disher stopped 40 shots in 6-5 win for Erie, was 3rd star. Jason MacIsaac 10-31-2005, 01:26 AM Alexander Sundstrom had a good games with 2 goals and an assist. That now gives him 8 goals, 4 assists in 10 games. 62% on the faceoffs and is +3. He really is going to prove to be a steal for the Devils in this past draft. Get him over to the AHL next year IMO or to a CHL team. Sundstrom and Bergfors should both play for Sweden at the under 20 WJC this year, if Bergfors is allowed, so we will have something to watch. Jason MacIsaac 10-31-2005, 01:36 AM Bergfors - 4 points in 4 games AHL Frazee - 1 win 1 tie, 4 GA in NCAA Fraser - 0 points, 13 games, -2 OHL Davis - 13 games, 9 goals, 4 assists, 13 points OHL Fayne - Who knows Zimmerman - 3 assists in 13 games, +4 WHL Sundstrom - 12 points, 8 goals in 10 games SwedUnder20 Riddarn 10-31-2005, 02:47 AM Sundstrom and Bergfors should both play for Sweden at the under 20 WJC this year, if Bergfors is allowed, so we will have something to watch. The competition for this years WJC Team Sweden seems quite hard, alot harder than the past 4-5 years probably. Bergfors, if he's released to play there, is a lock and a corner stone player for that team. Sundström will have a very hard time making that team. Belizarius 11-02-2005, 05:08 AM Davis scored his 10th goal of the season last night in a Kitchener win. He was named 3rd star of the game. Jason MacIsaac 11-04-2005, 12:10 PM After a fairly slow start to the high league season with 2 points in 5 games, Bondarev recorded 4 points in his last 4 games and now has 2 goals, 4 assists for 6 points in 9 games and is a +5 in those games. He was highly regarded a year before the draft in Russia as a highly skilled forward with loads of speed. Jason MacIsaac 11-05-2005, 01:23 AM We may have another good goaltending prospect just yet. Jason smith in the last three games gave up 4 goals for Sacred Heart posting two wins and a tie. Stoping 73 of 77 shots in the games. This year he has a 1.96 GAA with .932 SV%. What else can I say about Eckford, he is the best defensmen on the surprise Alaska Fairbanks team and had 2 assists in tonights 5 - 3 win. He has 4 points in 7 games. Alaska is now 3, 1, 1 against alot of strong teams. Belizarius 11-05-2005, 06:51 AM Zajac had an assist in a 4-2 loss vs Wisconsin, and D Dan Glover had a goal for Cornell. Perkovich scored again (4 or 5 straight games). http://lepalethockey.free.fr/actu/njdevs_prosp.html Updated! Jared Ramsden 11-05-2005, 03:15 PM I'm working on a CHL update, and looking at the Spokane Chiefs official website, they have Sean Zimmerman listed at 6'4 208 lbs....other places have him listed at 6'2 208 lbs......That's quite a difference from his height/weight when he was drafted of 6'2 220 lbs.....Just an interesting note I thought I'd pass on...... Jared Ramsden 11-05-2005, 03:34 PM Disher took the loss last night for Erie, 4-3 to Kitchener, but made 47 saves in the loss. Davis and Fraser scoreless, Kitchener won 2-1 vs Disher in Erie. Frazee was pulled after letting 3 goals in 16 shots in 30 minutes but didn't took the loss (Minnesota losing 4-3). Zajac scoreless in North Dakota loss vs Wisconsin, took 2 PIM. Perkovich, Laine, Ahosilta, Bondarev, Glover, Tarkir (ejected) scoreless... The lone player scoring a point was, again, D Tyler Eckford with an assist for Alaska Fairbanks. What a start for him... Perkovich had a hat-trick last night and climbs to 17th in league scoring. But Chicago lose... Zimmerman +1. Travis Zajac scored 2 goals and an assist in North Dakota 7-2 win. jake1 11-15-2005, 04:30 PM It's not just that Zajac scored 2-1-3 in a 7-4 win. It is more the game situation that makes the most recent game for Zajac special. First period: Captain Smaby gets booted for CFB. UMD scores twice on the major PP. Period ends 0-2. Second period: Leader Stafford gets booted for CFB 0:20 into the period. Another major penalty to kill. Things look bleak without two of the team's better players. After UMD takes an even-up penalty, Zajac scores an even-strength goal at 3:53. UMD takes more stupid penalties and, still in the time of Stafford's major penalty, UND scores again (Spirko) at 5:11, with Zajac on the ice. Zajac then scored an even-strength goal at 9:24. After two more UND goals, from the second PP unit, and one from UMD, the period ended 5-3 UND. Third period: UND outscores UMD 2-1. Zajac on the ice for both goals, getting one assist. The resilience UND showed in this game, and especially in the second period, may be a hint of what is to come for the team. And Zajac got it all started. Give'em Hell! 11-16-2005, 08:30 PM here is some news from Russia, some about Kadeykin is encouraging but some bad news for Mikhailishin. Anton Kadeykin (New Jersey Devils) has been loaned by RSL’s Lokomotiv (Yaroslavl) to High League (Russia 2) club Dizel (Penza). The young defenseman has thus far been playing for Lokomotiv’s farm club Lokomotiv 2, but has constantly accompanied the main squad on most road games, especially in the past month. He has fully recovered from shoulder surgery and the High League assignment sends him on a similar path to that of Vancouver Canucks second round choice in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Denis Grot. That young prospect spent a season in the High League before finally becoming a regular in the Super League. Alexander Mikhaylishin (New Jersey Devils) suffered a concussion this weekend during a friendly game between RSL clubs Spartak (Moscow) and Severstal (Cherpovets). The young defenseman got hit in the face by the puck, suffering the concussion. He will be sidelined for at least two weeks due to the injury. Hopefully, this injury/sickness thing doesn't continue with Nittel because he is a very special player when healthy. It is also worth noting that Chris Minard has 3 assists, giving him 15 points in 22 games with the Rats. Not too shabby for a FA signing. Tallackson also had 2 goals, including the game winner in OT. I had planned to watch the game on the AHL website, and I thought the game was at 5, but it turns out it was 5 eastern, which was my bad ;) So I shelled out $6 to watch only the 3rd period and OT. Not a total waste, but I wish I could have seen the whole game. Now that I know the quailty of the broadcast from the AHL website actually isin't that bad, I may watch another game or two before the season is out. This game should not have even been in OT. Rats had a late PP, and Redlihs made a horrible pinch to give the Crunch a 2-1 on which they scored. Rats bounced back in OT though. Suglobov and Khomutov combined on a nice passing play to draw the penalty in OT, and Tallackson made a nice between the legs tip in of the Redlihs point shot for the winner. Nittel looks to be really rounding into form. His 3rd goal was a bad angle wrister that he put over the Crunch goaltenders shoulder. As I've said a few times today, the youth upfront in Albany looks to be progressing very well. Ryznar and Vrana were the most noteable ommisions from the line-up. Talks a lot of trash to the other team...he usually backs it up, though. ratsgirl 03-11-2006, 11:38 PM despite having to dress three defensemen (matt demarchi, teemu kesa and ben carpentier) as forwards, the rats managed to pull off a 3-2 victory over the lowell lock monsters earlier tonight. pierre-luc leblond scored his first ahl goal, and petr vrana scored the game-winning goal. http://ahl.leaguestat.com/stats/game-summary.php?game_id=1001889 http://www.albanyriverrats.com/news/?id=9694 Jason MacIsaac 03-12-2006, 12:50 AM Zajac is turning into the new version of Tallackson. Had a decent season going into the playoffs then this weekend Zajac gets 1 goal and 3 assists in 2 games. This is the same time last year that he went on his run carrying ND through the playoffs. Belizarius 03-12-2006, 07:20 AM Perkovich scored 2 goals in a 6-2 loss, giving him 27 goals in USHL and 103 PIM. Power forward? Jason MacIsaac 03-12-2006, 10:53 PM Zajac with 2 goals through the first 2 periods in the deciding game in their first round matchup. Sioux are up 3 - 0 in the game. He's a forward who just finished his collegiate career with Ohio State. Here (http://ohiostatebuckeyes.collegesports.com/sports/m-hockey/mtt/pelley_rod00.html) is his profile from the Ohio State site. Hopefully this spells the end of Matt DeMarchi's career as a forward. Oilers Chick 03-16-2006, 06:17 PM Congrats is in order to Jason Smith. He was named to the Atlantic Hockey All-Conference First Team. Smith, for those who don't know, is the starting goaltender with the Sacred Heart Pioneers. He had a terrific season this year and led his team to a third place finish in the AHC (Atlantic Hockey Conference). Unfortunately, the Pioneers season ended last weekend when they were eliminated by UConn in the conference quarterfinals. Ratsgirl: The Pelley signing is a good one for Albany. If he can do for Albany what he did for OSU, he'll turn out to be a very good pickup down the road. In a nutshell, he's a tenacious, pesky forward with alot of heart who has a good nose for the net. Pelley's numbers being down is a reflection of just much OSU as a team struggled to generate offense this season. Heck, even their top scorer Tom Fritsche's numbers were down. Pelley's numbers (or lack thereof) don't even begin to tell how much and what he could bring to his team (in this case, Albany). I wish him all the best with the River Rats and hopefully one day he'll get the call up to big club. Belizarius 03-17-2006, 03:50 PM Yes I saw some articles and his work ethic seems to be pretty good... not a surprise for a Devils tryout... I'm curious to see how he will do and I'm going to add him in my stats web page... :) EDIT : some infos : Ohio State site article (http://ohiostatebuckeyes.collegesports.com/sports/m-hockey/spec-rel/022206aaa.html) Wearing the Scarlet and Gray Senior Rod Pelley played in his 161st game as a Buckeye last Saturday vs. Ferris State. He now is tied with Doug Andress and Scott May for second place, six behind first-place Mark Anderson, who played in 167 games from 1981-85. Pelley is just the 28th Buckeye to play in 150 or more games in the Scarlet and Gray. Joining the Century Club Eight Buckeyes have played in 100 or more games in the Scarlet and Gray. Senior Rod Pelley leads the way with 161 [since, 163], followed by classmates Nate Guenin (147) and Dan Knapp (119) and juniors Matt Waddell (116), Sean Collins (116), Andrew Schembri (114) and Mathieu Beaudoin (108). Bryce Anderson recently joined the group, playing in his 100th game for the Buckeyes against Ferris State last Saturday. Senior Rod Pelley leads the Buckeyes and the CCHA with 156 shots this season. Team awards Senior forward Rod Pelley won Best Wrist Shot and was first runner-up for Hardest Hitter (Forward). Pelley also changed a lot of linemates (http://www.columbusdispatch.com/osusports/osusports.php?story=dispatch/2006/02/24/20060224-D15-02.html) Rod Pelley, the team’s top-line center, has played with 10 left wingers, eight right wingers and 15 combinations of wingers after playing most of last season with just three combinations. It's been an unbelievable game. 7-7 going into OT. Jeff Frazee has gotten a chance to play after Kellen Briggs was pulled. :) He's looked pretty composed for an 18 year old. Not suprised he has been good every time he's had a chance to play. The goals he let up were on a turnover and a breakaway. The winner gets to play Travis Zajac and North Dakota. :handclap: edit: I guess this isn't a Devils prospect comment(not yet at least ;) ), but Stephen Gionta scored another goal in the Hockey East Semi's. He missed some games but has now 1+2 in 2 games since his comeback. Zajac will play WCHA finals (1 assist again), Glover ECAC finals. Tarkir lost in CCHA semis, like Frazee in WCHA semis. I'm not exactly sure what the rules are, but I am 99.9% sure he is a free agent. I mean, he is nobody's property. He can go wherever he wants, and why not have him in Jersey with Zach? The Chiefs contacted Disher on Friday after roster moves, prompted by Tampa Bay goaltender Sean Burke's broken finger earlier this week, opened a spot. The Chiefs are affiliated with the NHL's Lightning. New Jersey, which holds Disher's rights until at least the June 1 signing deadline, has permitted him to join the Chiefs. "They think it will be a good experience for me," he said. He declined the Devils' AHL/ECHL offer and a spot with the ECHL's Augusta Lynx before the season, hoping his performance this season would lead to an NHL contract. Now, he hopes to determine his future with the Devils in the next month. "My stock hasn't risen but it hasn't gone down," he said. "It all depends on what the Devils' needs are. At this time, New Jersey doesn't know what they're going to do." ratsgirl 03-19-2006, 11:27 AM Ratsgirl: The Pelley signing is a good one for Albany. Why Lou has guys like Ryznar and Tallackson sitting out a nightly basis in New Jersey is very questionable at this point, especially considering the River Rats are really thin on forwards right now. If both those guys were playing with the Devils, then fine, but it's not helping them, or Albany much to have them sitting in the press box night after night. It is quite "un-Devil" like to see what has transpired this year. Usually this organization is a well oiled machine that keeps on churning but there have been a few un-characteristic blunders and strange moves that have transpired over the course of the season. I understand not being able to trade for a goal-scorer, because the market for guys like that wasn't great, and the price to get a guy like that would have been outrageous. They didn't want a short term fix, which is fine by me. I just hope they are more aggressive in trying to address the secondary scoring issues in the off-season. cjmurph 03-20-2006, 03:57 AM Even more questionable is this in relation to the old Devils philosophy of making sure not to rush their prospects. But Zajac is going to play in the AHL after his sophomore year with the sioux? Am I right? :) That's up in the air. He played very well last night in the West Regional Semis. That UND team is very young, so he might choose to stay. Then again, if Parise leaves, he might too. Tough to say. I have changed my mind about Travis in one respect. I don't think he is going to be a second-line center in the NHL. Nothing against him. He can create well and has great speed, but I think he might be the player to take Madden's spot in a few years. He plays VERY WELL in the defensive zone and isn't afraid to play physical. That being said, with Parise set to take the second-line center position in a year or two, we have to keep Gomez at all costs . . . well, save one: if it ever came down to signing Gomer over Patty, I'd have to go with Elias on that one. But we need to lock him down to a long-term deal this summer . . . AND sign Elias to a deal as well. Yikes. 4check22 03-25-2006, 10:56 AM By the way, our TWO UND prospects (Zajac and Parise ;) ) played well last night in a 5-1 victory over Michigan (http://siouxsports.com/hockey/result.php?GAMEDATE=20060324) in the West Semis. Parise saved 34 of 35 shots and Zajac had a goal and an assist. UND plays Holy Cross who took out top-seed Minnesota last night in a MASSIVE UPSET. Barring a letdown, the Sioux should make the Frozen Four next week. Jared Ramsden 03-25-2006, 04:48 PM Rats continued to struggle, losing again last night, 5-2 to the Phantoms. Josh Disher made his AHL debut and was peppered with 44 shots, 39 of which he turned away. Bergfors scored both Rats goals, and with Suglobov, Clarkson and Tallackson currently not on the roster, Bergfors is now the Rats leading active scorer with 15 goals and 17 assists for 32 points in 54 games. With the kind of season he's having at such a young age, the potential of Bergfors, especially offensively, seems unlimited. He could become a dominating AHL player as soon as next season if he keeps at his current development clip. That's if he's not with us next season. ;) Jared Ramsden 03-25-2006, 07:11 PM That's if he's not with us next season. ;) With guys like Elias, Gomez and Gionta being counted on for offense, throwing Bergfors into the mix to help provide some secondary scoring has to be considered. If he has a strong training camp and pre-season next year, I wouldn't be at all shocked to see him leapfrog other prospects in the system and start the season in New Jersey. He is still very young, so they will have to be carefull with him, but if he shows that he might be ready, then why not give him a shot? 4check22 03-25-2006, 07:27 PM With guys like Elias, Gomez and Gionta being counted on for offense, throwing Bergfors into the mix to help provide some secondary scoring has to be considered. Don't we have to lock up Gomez and Gio as well? That's a tall order considering how close we are to the cap right now. I think Bergfors has a great opportunity to play next year considering how cheap he will be against the cap. crashlanding 03-25-2006, 07:33 PM I know Elias is a UFA next season. I think Bergfors has a great opportunity to play next year considering how cheap he will be against the cap. Gomez and Gio are both RFA. They have arbitration rights too so it is important to not let this go to far, the arbitrator could screw us. Langenbrunner is UFA though, I'd like to get him locked up at a slight discount. I'm hoping he's a guy that slips through the cracks. brule2000 03-26-2006, 07:15 AM Even more questionable is this in relation to the old Devils philosophy of making sure not to rush their prospects. On one hand we can't give Suglobov a shot a the show as a 24 year old, but we sign Bergfors as an 18 year old to play in a man's league. Management of this organization as a whole has been quite disturbing this year. From the 3 "M" signings, to the strange callups and subsequent scratches of prospects (as you stated), to not having David Hale up from the start of the season when everyone knew he was ready for a second NHL season, to the trade for more defense when the biggest problem with the team was scoring, to the completely baffling Kozlov situation, to the current 2nd line situation, the Devils have made an unprecidented series of blunders/questionable moves this year. I don't know if it is unprecedented. It reminds me of 2002; Zyuzin, Richer, Kamensky, Dagenais, Constantine, Arnott and McKay. In some circumstances if you don't want to rebuild you have to gamble and when it doesn't work it looks like you are thrashing about and getting nowhere. Lou's recovery from summer 2002 was astonishing but the problems intrinsic in the team at that time were far less than those stored up for an aging and elite team in a league that shut down for over a year whilst rewriting its rules on and off the ice. There were no geniuses who new what the new league would be like definitively. (If there were Niedermayer would have been signed for six years at $9 million per in 2003 and paid $6.7 each year until '09). Sather gambled and was lucky, O'Connell threw the same dice and lost out. Lou is, I'm certain, processing all the information on the way this league is now and will be in the future. Past performance suggests he will find a way to build a succesful team. However, the same could be said of, for instance, Harry Sinden in Boston ten to fifteen years ago. Who knows what the future will bring? If the team is truly competitive for maybe three of the next five seasons he will have done a good job in my opinion. Anything more then he is a genius. Personally, I see another Stanley Cup within ten years, under Lou or Conte. Hope I'm right!! Tao Jones 03-26-2006, 11:22 AM Keep posting brule2000  :handclap: 4check22 03-26-2006, 02:07 PM Travis Zajac had a HUGE goal in the Western Region Final last night, which put UND up by 2 goals in the final period. The Sioux won the match 5-2 (http://siouxsports.com/hockey/result.php?GAMEDATE=20060325), and Parise played well as he saved 17 of 19 shots. Seriously, when UND is on, they remind me so much of the Devils of a few years ago: they could score goals and clamp down in their defensive zone. 19 shots against in NCAA hockey is impressive considering how wide open that game is. Add to that the fact that UND has only 1 upperclassman on defense, they are playing very well right now. Will Lou sign Parise when the tourney is over? Man, I hope so. | ||
