"Those goalies that block shots, instead of stopping shots, will find it's going to be a little tougher for them, especially in close."

After three scrimmages, it's safe to say Brodeur retained his No. 1 status with the Olympic group. He was the goaltender when Canada won the gold medal in 2002 at the Salt Lake Olympics and likely will be the starter at the Turin Games in February.

"I didn't think there was going to be that big of a difference with the smaller equipment," Brodeur said. "But in practice when guys get close to me, they're able to pick the corners a lot quicker than before.
