41-year old Tommy Albelin says in todays paper that wants to play for the Devils, here are some translated quotes:

"Iīm heading back to the USA August 24th for a talk with the general manager and see what they need."

"I hope to play in the NHL and the team I want to play for is New Jersey."

Sweden?
"I have received some inquiries but cut them off pretty quickly since I havenīt felt for it. I want to check first whatīs available overthere."

this is nuts. With a salary cap and possibly Stevens coming back there is simply no room. Sorry Tommy, thanks for the years and dealing with playing in Albany a few years ago but NJ's blueline is full.

Honestly, if we didn't already have like thrity defensemen, I would probably take Albelin back. He's smart and effective. I'll never forget how during the 2003 playoff run, he went from being a scratch to our most dependable third liner.

I'd like to see him as a Devils defense coach some day.

I want Albelin back. Trade Brown and Matvichuk/White/McGillis.

You guys are NUTS

Sorry guys Albelin was done in 2000.......2003 he was able to get by with great positioning and a sound defensive unit surrounding him. On this current NJ team he would a waste of a roster spot.

The Devils don't need Tommy nor Scott Stevens or Friesen. Don't waste the time with looking at them. Move on they have a great team now on paper.

I want Albelin back. Trade Brown and Matvichuk/White/McGillis.I may agree with Albelin as the 7th defeseman, so trading Brown to make room might be a fine thing if Albelin also wants the minimum. But I strongly disagree if you want Albelin to be an everyday player. He wasn't too effective when he had to play everyday after Stevens went down.

Move on they have a great team now on paper.I strongly disagree with including Jeff Friesen in your comments. Alexander Mogilny has barely played more games than Peter Forsberg since the 1995-96 season. If Mogilny can't play games here and there during the beginning of the season while Elias is out, who is going to score goals for the Devils or be a threat?

What I meant by trade McGillis/Matvichuk/White was get Albelin as seventh defenseman... not eighth or ninth. Then have Hale take sixth, IMO.

Then again maybe that's not the best course of action.

Then again maybe that's not the best course of action.Hale's health problems really concern me. Not only on a personal level, but I don't think he can ever be the top defensive-defenseman if he's going to miss large parts of every other season.
