I'd actually like to see what Freeze and Mogilny do flanking Gomez.

I want to keep Kozlov

White and Matvichuk can go.

I'd love to get rid of Matvichuk. I'd definately trade Kozlov... but I know he'll go somewhere and have a good year. We also have to get rid of one of our enforcers. Oliwa would be great, but I'm sure he untradeable.

I agree.........Friesen is valuable even when Elias is available

But I do not want to loose White and Mativichuk

What would it take for the Penguins to acquire White or Matvichuk?

Probably Taking Kozlov

If I had to pick:

1) Kozlov
2) Matvichuck

I'd rather keep Friesen because he isn't afraid to hit and that goal vs Ottawa still stands out. CLUTCH!

I don't really want to trade Matvichuck, but NJ right now has too many D-man. You can never have too much depth on the blueline as NJ found out 2 years ago....

agreed, id prefer to keep the offence we have and trade a d-man (white or matvchuk) we still have brown/hale as a decent 6th man and marty helps make up for some errors, but u cant win without scoring a few

do you see yourselves getting back anywhere near the true value of the player traded? Teams over the cap are really at the mercy of the other teams. In effect you are buying cap space and you will pay a premium. Could you see trading a oplayer, or two, plus a high pick for a lesser player and lower picks? Say a 1st rounder for a 2nd, etc.

Probably looking at a Danny Markov for a pick type trade in any case.

That's the dumbest thing I've heard all year.....why did we sign Mogilny?

Matvichuk is the grit we lost last season due to the retirement of Daneyko. I'd say get rid of Kozlov and Oliwa. We have our tough guy in Langdon and he's half the price of Oliwa.

What would you want from the Pens? (not that I would expect Lou to trade with a division rival).

Done, just because I want to get a jersey with that name on it.

Don''t really want to part with Goligoski, though the 2nd rounder I don't mind at this point. Other Pens fans are probably gonna get on me for this, but would you take a package centered around Morozov by chance? (Brodeur would probably thank you).

Yeah, but where is the salary dump?

hm, Matvichuk and Kozlov were making less than I thought. Kinda phases out that option.

Honestly, it's time for Gomer to go. Lou Lamoriello downplayed this particular aspect of the Mogilny signing, but I'm of the opinion that it sent the same message to Scott Gomez (who is free to walk as an UFA in a years time) that the Devils tried to give Scott Niedermayer when they attempted to bring Rob to New Jersey which is "we want you here long-term".

My vote was for Jeff Friesen. I defended his efforts in his last season with the Devils as it did appear that he was giving it an honest effort most nights, but the results just weren't all that impressive without Joe Nieuwendyk as his center. He's the type of player imo who genuinely needs to be on a line where both his center and off winger are pushing him as hard as Pat Burns did to get the very best out of him. Some players respond well to positive reinforcement and pats on the back while others need a kick in the ass to get it going at times. Jeff Friesen falls in the latter category. I like him a lot as a player, but its frustrating as hell watching him go in such long scoring slumps when he has all the tools and then some to be a consistent top six forward contributor. The only player more disappointing then Jeff Friesen with the Devils last season was Igor Larionov in my mind which says something.

Whats his stats against Marty again? 15 goals in 20 games?

Anyway the Devils need to get rid of salary yes, but they also need to get rid of bodies at forward too. We currently have 16 NHL caliber forwards (including Elias and Suglobov). There just isn't enough room for everyone!

We don't need someone who will make an impact on the team now, or even within the next 2 years. We're covered in the short term. Its the long term depth (future picks, 20/21 year old prospects who need 2+ years of development) which I would prefer Lou to recieve in a trade.

Goligoski fit the profile of being a young (20), NCAA prospect with nice upside and plays defense.

Honestly, it's time for Gomer to go.Are you fricking kidding? That's like peanut butter telling jelly, "it's time to go." Gomez is a staple on this team until Parise is ready. If Parise has a breakout year, I'd consider trading Gomez just to get some return when he goes UFA. But that is next year. Without Gomez, we go from playoff team to barely breathing offensively.

With the new rules coming in (yeah, I know we've heard this song before) Jeff Friesen is going to break out. I am looking forward to a line of Freeze, Gomez, Mogilny. I know that Friesen had a bad year last year, but he's got such great wheels I just have a feeling he's gonna be great for us this year.

I vote to get rid of Kozlov.

I vote to get rid of Kozlov.I'm seeing a lot of this "get rid of Kozlov" stuff, and I have even been a proponent of it in the past, but in reality, the guy has only played a handful of games for us. I think we should give him a season to show us what he has. I mean, we have been very patient with Friesen after last year (and lets face it, his trade value is MAYBE a 4th round pick tops), and Kozlov wouldn't get us much in return either. We have to cut somewhere before October 1st, but I have a feeling that Kozlov is going to be a Devil this year. He's got the talent. If somebody could light a fire under him, he could be a great asset for us.
